I had a voicemail on my home phone that said to call 877-247-6116 as this was an attempt to collect a debt.  Since I do not have any outstanding debt, I was worried that I somehow I had been a victim of identity theft or something?  I called the number and asked who I was speaking to and they told me I had been routed to the Law Offices of William W. Siegal which I Googled immediately.  The guy asked me for my SSN which I said I would not give out.  He said that he can't give me any information regarding this account until I gave him my Social Security Number.  I just said that I am sorry but that is his problem then because I will not give out my SSN.  Be careful about your private info and do not give these people anything.

This number is a scam!
I was woken up this morning by a representative from this number, which is linked to William Siegel and Associates (not exactly sure about the spelling).  They said that I had an outstanding balance in my Chase account due to an overdraft charge of $450.00.  I thought that my card had been stolen, or worse, my identity. I immediately went to Chase (which is across the street from my apartment) and reported the incident.  Chase confirmed that they have ABSOLUTELY NO AFFILIATION with this this phone number (or company).  If they call, hang up and contact the fraud department of the specific company where you have "outstanding debt" (in my case, Chase), IMMEDIATELY!  Please help in the effort to get them caught, because identity fraud really sucks. They just want your information!  I don't know how William Siegel and his army of cold callers sleep at night.

The same company left a message at my parents looking for me leaving the number of 877-247-6116 stating he represented William W. Segall Law office.  I attempted to call them back however the representative name of Karan (sp?) would n ot give me any information regarding his company until I gave him the account number, which I did not do!  I told him that if he couldn't give any information than I could not as well and hung up.  Feels like a definite scam. I haven't resides with my family in 25 years.

My family members keep getting calls from William W Siegel & Associates.  First my 15 year old daughter gets a call on her cell phone looking for me.  I call back, they have the right name and ask me to verify my social security #.  I say no, I am not giving you my social security #, you tell me what you have and I will tell you if it is right or not.  Well of course it's the wrong social security #.  I tell them to stop harassing my 15 year old daughter!  A few weeks later, my 15 year old son (twins) gets a call from the same place asking for me.  I tell him to ignore it until the 5th call.  Call them back and go thru the same routine!!  Now, my wife gets a call on her cell phone from the same place, looking for me!  So I call back and go through the same routine again.  I tell the person to stop calling my family members, yes, you have the wrong person and if I receive another call, I will be contacting the state's attorney general's office and filing a complaint!  She hung up on me!  If it wasn't so annoying, it would be funny!

Just got off the phone with these idiots!!! WHAT A SCAM!!! They told me I had an account with a bank that I never banked with, from 12 years ago. After pushing them a bit...the guy admitted that they were a collection agency and NOT an attorney's office. I told them that I AM an attorney and knew the law very well (total BS but he didn't know that). It was fun listening to him squirm and try to keep sending me to his "Supervisor" who is most likely the guy sitting next to him in a mud hut in India. PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THESE SCAMS!!!! They crop up more around the holidays because they know people have more money on hand and usually get bonuses from their employers. That is what they are searching for.

My husband Eric just got a letter from "William W. Siegel and Associates" stating he owed $644.23 for a AT&T account. He has never owned a an account with AT&T. Their toll free number to call was 888-647-0633. He almost paid it, thinking it was an old Verizon account from his ex, but he noticed it stated AT&T in fine print.

i have been receiving calls for the past couple of weeks.multiple times a day.they always ask for my son. they will not identify the name of the organization they are calling from.i ask them constantly to identify the organization they are calling from.they will not do this. i called the number back that was on caller id and it says it's from william siegal's office.i tell them everyday my son does not reside here. the reps from this company need training. they are very nasty. they have no traing what-so-ever of how to speak with someone. they are also very beligerant.when i ask them to identify themselves they say they can't because it's a business matter of my son's and that it's none of my business as to why they are calling.well' who would pass a phone number along to their child or anyone else, for that matter, ifyou don't know who's calling or what the call is about.the number that comes up on caller id is800-701-0640

I have received 4 phone calls to 3 different houses of me and my family members from this firm, as well as a letter in the mail.  After reading this board I was extremely skeptical.  They said I had $143 of unpaid T-Mobile bill.  These people are extremely rude and abrasive.  However, I called tmobile and they confirmed that my acct was over 360 days overdue and had been forwarded to William W Siegel.  I just paid the outstanding balance with Tmobile directly and wouldn't advise others to do so as well if they're hesitant to pay Siegel.

Weird people huh?  Just received call asking for my son.  Same as others have posted.  Call back at no. that ends with 3992.  I do not have contact with my son very often but I will not pass this on.  I started reading other post and I believe they get this no. through t-mobil.  Friends? Family?  Something to do with the T-Mobil thing.  Not meaning T-mobil is doing this but this bunch of jerks have access to some t-mobil customers or past customers info.  Hey, its easy, if you work for a call center or for a company that has info of customers on file in the computer they could use that info the way they want.  Some people jump from job to job doing this kind of thing.  This of course is just a guess, but the bottom line is do not answer the phone next time and above all do not give them info.

right, well so happy for you. perhaps if i could understand them, i mean we are living in the united states, i don't mind an accent, but i think it only appropriate if i can understand them. how can i know their intentions if i can't understand them? honestly though i have doubt about what you've posted even. no need for the name calling first of all, and if they're so reputable then why did they attempt to collect false debt on me? they said it was a cell phone debt with a company i have NEVER had a cell account with. in fact i have EVER had ONLY 1 cell account, and i am still with it, in EXCELLENT standings. he then quickly changed it to oh i'm sorry for your mastercard debt. hmmmm nope, try again, you guess it i have NEVER had a mastercard nor have i ever applied for one in my life. !! so........... why don't you just sit on man.

they call me while i'm at work, i explain i can not understand due to the thick accent as well as the massive back ground noise on their part i ask them to repeat themselves about 8 times (not exaggerating) for the name of the company in which they are calling on behalf of. today (8/2/10) i decide to confirm my name ONLY, and he Alan or Eric (same person i think) says he is calling to collect a bad debt in the amount of 500.some dollarsfor a cellular phone debt. he said wait i'll give you the number so you can confirm. he then came back with another question for me instead. . he could/would not produce it for me. (of course, there wasn't one) so i informed him that i was currently talking on the ONLY CELL i ever have had. then he said hold please, came back and said i'm sorry not a cell phone debt but for your mastercard, FUNNY i have NEVER had a master card in my life or applied for one i told him. so i just hung up. i did however call them back to harrass them a bit, got some info. their mailing/physical address is 7 Penn Plaza; New York City, NY; 10001. (if he wasn't lying about that) i also asked how many people worked there. he said 15-20. i asked how William Seigel was linked to this company. he said he is the attorney handling the files for this company. i said so he's just your attorney for the company? and how did you get my information since i know it's not from a faulty cell phone or mastercard debt. he just kept asking me where this conversation was going. i said same place the previous one was. i plan on reporting them to the better business bureau.

Like others I received a call this afternoon at my home residents. They actually left a voicemail with the weird british accent, which almost sounded like someone with a digitizer.

The funny thing is that the message says that if this is not "xxx" then press a number, if this is "xxx" wait three seconds as the call contains personal information. What reputable business conveys any personal information over a voice mail.*ugh*

Anyway, they left a number to call them back on: 877-247-6161 along with an account number to give them.

Thanks for starting this thread. :)

I don't know how these people get your cell phone number but I keep getting this and when I dial it back it's  from some law office. They call but don't leave a voice mail and if it was an official business it wouldn't have a problem leaving a voice mail.  Don't answer or call them back.
