i got the same call daily now. Can we file a class action against Discover? My number is on the do not call list

They repetitedly call, and just hang up. they have called about 5 times today, and have been calling for the past 3 days. i finally heard someone talk who asked for ex-husband who passed away about a year and a half ago.

Just call it back and tell them you want to speak to customer service.
Then tell them you don't want to be called. The guy said it might
take up to 3 weeks. I do not believe this is a phishing scam because
I also recieved a Discover business card application in the mail. We'll
see what happens.

I called the number back, got a Discover Card person that took me off of the "soliciation" list...both phone calls with offers and mail campaigns.  I hope it works!!

I keep getting this call all day long every day.  How do you stop it.

I called the number back and threatened to report them as a phishing scam, and they apparently agreed to remove me from their list. That was earlier today. We'll see what happens...

I too have received the calls, so I called up and asked if they would take me off the list.  They did, we will see how long it last.  They did sign me up for next quarters 5% back rewards.

So annoying - they call several times a day - i asked to be removed they said sure and still call me! i have called Discover many times about this. I am forced t cancel the services.
Alos, on top of that they found my parents phone number (which I never provided).
No message, so rude!

They've have been calling me as well for a while at least twice a day. They never leave a message. My # is a cell phone - but I've go tons of time. I usually do not answer number that I do not reconize and they never left a message. This went on for a good week. Because they were a persistant number I gave them ONE chance for their speal, but they never would say anything (they would listen on the speaker for a response -- a typical telemarketer/pervert tactic). I started to just pick up the phone and NOT ANSWER, but allow background music answer for me.  I would hear a hello but then hang up.  At the end, however, I did answer, quickly asked who they where -- didn't wait for a response then told them that I was on do not call and to not call again.  I told them I was not interested in ANYTHING that they had to offer and to not call again (multiple times) and then hung up (I was steaming because of a different issue anyway and they called just at the right time...)  So far I have not been called back, but we'll see.  If they had left a message, I might have been nicer, but if you don't leave a message with me I DON'T CALL BACK!!! If you are not on my list of known number and you want to talk to me, LEAVE A MESSAGE!!!  If you continue to call but don't leave a message, then you're stupid.  If you can't understand that I don't want to talk when I pick up and don't say anything or worse - hang up on you, then you're brain dead.  

TELEMARKETERS:
Don't do your job with me! If you have to make a living pestering people with calls, you're lower than scum -- couldn't find a better job?  No, wait, they're weak and no better than they should be! Not strong enough to have an HONORABLE job? I don't see how anyone could work at a job like this, and not fell like or be scum.  Couldn't use your brains to get a real job? You people deserve to get all the foul, rough, non-responses that you can get!!! It is sad that businesses (if that's who you really are) resort to these types of tatics! Isn't TV, Magazines, Radio, Billboards, the Internet, SPAM, word of mouth, so on enough advertising for you @SS-H@LES-B@ST@RDS!

For anyone else:
If you have windows and don't want to say anything, you can use the 'windows-s' key to cause your computer to speek for you (like Steven Hawkings).  Hi-light any line of text that you want to "say" and use windows-s (usually found between the ctrl and alt keys on the keyboard).  The PC will read the text to you.  If you don't want to reveal anything about yourself (even your gender) you can choose a male or female voice -- this may be changed in the control pannel. Don't give any information out at all -- use generic text US/WE instead of I/ME; entities, instead of people, so on.

I have not received any further calls from this number.

A person with a thick accent has been calling my work # for the past couple days asking for me. When my receptionist asks the caller's name he refuses to say. He will not leave a voice mail message but just calls back a few hours later. He also asks to speak with my spouse, which is a red flag because I don't have one and he is calling a business. Whether Discover Card or phishing scam, it is very annoying.

Annoying. I go through this every few months/years with discover. I won't do business with them.

I am also getting these calls on my cell phone at least 3 times a day for the last 2 weeks now. I am getting pretty mad that they won't stop calling!!!!

I asked for a manager, he said they deleted my number but continue to call and not leave a message. Even put my number on the NO CALL list and they still persist. GGRRR

It is Discover. I called the number today and added myself to the do not call list. We'll see if that works.

They have been calling me, but every time, there is no answer. When I answer I get dead air...

I got several calls from this number recently. They asked my name and then hang up! Very annoying.

Called every evening around 4pm. I answered, no one on the other end. What is this? Make them stop

Similar thing with me Stephanie, but I also got called back just a few minutes ago so they could check all my information. They didn't ask anything too private, so I'm not particularly worried, but the problem I have is that I already do have an active account with Discover which I regularly use, so I don't understand why I wouldn't just get an e-mail or letter alongside my regular updates.

I worked briefly as a telemarketer, and this reminds me a lot of how we used to do things. I'd advise everyone to ask how the callers are getting this information and/or to be placed on a do not call list.

called 4x in the past week or 2 before i finally decided to answer today.
all they said was "hi i'm calling w/ discover card may i speak to stephanie lastname." i said it's me. they asked if i was a business owner and i said no. and then he was silent. i asked if that was all he said "yes, thank you." how weird.

I have called Discover card back, the number 866-402-1044 is NOT from them but it is a phishing scam.  Just block number it.

I am getting the same call too, that's why I googled the phone number.  I've only received two calls in the past couple days, so it's not too bad yet, but now that I read comments on here, I know if it keeps happening I'll block the number.  Thanks for making this number known on this site.  I also though it was quite odd that it was coming from an 866 number.  Most credit card companies are 800 numbers so I wonder if this is a scam like others have suggested.
