I called back. It was a message from the Suffolk County Police Dept. about a missing, deaf, 73 Y/O man. Seems like a legit. service for all areas.

Just got a call from them too, picked up the receiver and hung up just to stop the ringing.  We've had bad weather here for a couple of weeks (typical spring storms), but I never signed up for any alerts.  

Called at 3:30 in the morning? Really? I am furious!

the number is used for code red in your county. I received it today because they were running a test of the system. What it can be used for depends on each county's definition of a code red.  In my town, no school due to weather does not come on this line. Nor have I ever received amber alerts. It would be used for a disaster with instructions on where to go for shelter etc.  

The call came from our city Administrator announcing a parking ban due to weather conditions. From reports I've seen, this same number is used for Amber Alerts and other governmental notifications. I just wonder who the promoter of this number is and how much they charge our local government each time the service is used. I wish I'd thought of this scam to legalize robo-calling. I'm sure it would pay for the equipment and net a tidy profit.

This number is our local Police dept. Code Red Alert to notify residences of any emergency.

I received a message.  It was my township's mayor advising re snow removal procedures in preparation for the upcoming storm.

I received a call from this 5 times and each time I didn't answer, but called it back later out of curiosity and a recorded message answered giving a pitch about a free cruise to the Bahamas but they need credit card information from you for a 59 dollar service charge. These people desperate to steal your info. I only wish something could be done about this

This number called me on 9/21/2013 at 6:22pm. Told me about a 12 year old Ryan Reed that was missing from Dunman way in Dundalk, MD. Recorded message said what the child was wearing when last seen, etc. The message stated that if I knew anything, to call Baltimore county police at 410-xxx-7330. I looked up the number of the local police department, and it was actually 410-xxx-7320, not 7330. This could be legit, or maybe not. I don't know. I looked up the missing child's name, and could find no record of anyone missing from the area. Caller ID came up "EMERGENCY COMM". I did not try calling the number back.

This number 866-419-5000 is "CODE RED 911Service that someone with your number signed up for.

This number called my phone. As with any number I do not recognize, I ignored it. Voicemail revealed it was a message from the Mayor of our town regarding a neighborhood watch meeting. Immediately after I listened to voicemail I received a text message with the same info. It is a legitimate number.

I had a call from this number yesterday. A message was left about it being a county's CodeRED emergency notification test. Then they gave another number to call back if needed, which was (910) 321-6822. Since I still didn't think it was legit I googled that number too and it is totally legit. The search even returned a notice about this very phone call being a test:

First time a call from a number I didn't know turned out to not be spam. A nice surprise.

This was a call from our local police department alerting us that our Village's 4th of July Parade was cancelled.

This is an Emergency Communication from your local authorities to notify you of an event that may require your attention.  It includes Amber Alert notifications and other alerts for your area.

Called twice within a couple of minutes while on the internet, disconnected and called it back and it was a message of the county judge giving instructions on how to sign up for Code Red Alerts through the county website.

I thought this call was a scam, but then heard that a little girl was missing in our town on .TV . Listened to the message from the 866-419-5000 and it was about the 2 year old girl missing since last night.

This number called 1:49 AM with an official sounding recording supposedly about a missing young man in the area.  Yes - 1:49 AM!  I didn't bother answering when the number called again at 8:20 AM.  I have now blocked the number.

CALLER SOLICITING CITY OF HURST TEXAS AMBULANCE SERVICE @ $60.00 ANNUAL FEE FOR ALL HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS AND DEPENDENTS UNDER THE AGE OF 26. APPEARS TO BE A ROLLOVER CALL FROM 817-788-7238, WHICH IS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.

This was a message telling us that there was to be a test of our city's emergency sirens and that they would call again after the testing,  We were happy to have this, with our city suffering thru several weather related emergencies in the past few years.

Got a call at 1:30 in the morning.  When I called the number I was told by an automated system that there's no record of any message sent to my phone number within the last 30 days.  If this is a legitimate number, someone's obviously hacked into it and is playing games.

I had a call from this # at 2 :00 Fri. morning ~~ I was sleeping !!!!!!!!!!    Ridiculous bunch of crap !!  Only JERKS do this.
