I have had this number call me multiple times and it is the same person (man with an muslim accent) everytime. He tells me that it is a collection acency and asks for someone I have never heard of. I have a perfect credit score and I am sure I have no accounts that have been sent to collections. I actually called the number back and the same man answered... he gave no name, did not say the name of the agency, and why is he answering an 800 number directly? It sounds like a scam to me.

I received one call today at around 6 pm from this number saying that i have a debt with Bally Total Fitness and they said that they had my last four digit of my social security number which were wrong, and this man whith an indian accent asked me if I was an American citizen.I did not any answer any of his questions and hang up. I called Bally Total Fitness and they told me I have no debt with them. Becareful this is a scam that want to get all your personal information. I will report this number to the police.

For kicks in between sending out my resume I call these numbers and when some scum bag blood sucker answers I play the HIGH LOUD WHISTLE in their stupid ear. I only hope it actually bursts their ear drum, thus putting them on disability from their BS job and putting them in the Big A** Crap Boat with the rest of us....

Even if you have debts they have likely already been charged off and these a**holes buy your debt for pennies and then come after you to get your debt costs PLUS interest as if they've lost money on you. They HAVE NOT! If they took you to court they could not win because you NEVER entered into any contract or bought any goods or service with a plucking Collection Agency!

I've been getting these calls for some months now. It's just like you say. I've been out of work 18mos. How can I keep up on less than $200 a week? Insane, they have never left a message. So, I put my phone on silent for their number when they call and I'm not disturbed. Common courtesy is out the window with these  people, whoever they are. If they are truly in India, then forget it-I will not speak to someone who speaks English but doesn't understand it! Thanks for your posts, people, they helped me figure this out!

I was called today and they asked for someone that I didn't know.  They told me the guys name address that he was late on his Ballys bill.  The girls name was NEHNGULATI and was Indian, I know cause I asked.  I asked for the girls supervisor and informed him that he was being recorded and that they where very close to breaking the law.  I am going to report them to a few government agencies I know people in!

Have been getting a daily, sometimes twice daily, phone call from this number for a couple of months.  Even on Sunday!  I am a stay at home mom, have no job outside the home and really no reason for a "debt collector" to call- the only debt I have is student loans from college which will be paid off this summer!  I have never picked up the phone.  Oh, they are calling my CELL PHONE!

This number called my home numerous times.  The first few times I wasn't home and no message was left.  The 3rd time I was home, picked up and then they hung up on me.  The 4th time, I picked up and we played the hello game... I said hello, then she said hello, then I said hello... went on for 3 rounds until she hung up.  Sounded like I was being mached.  The next night a women called (same time as the last few calls 8:30pm) and I answered the phone.  I said hello and there was laughter in the back ground.  I finally said, can I help you and a women with a foreign accent answered.  She said hello Mrs. "Smith" (my last name was correct) and asked to speak to "Ernest Smith".  I told her that she had the wrong number, that an Ernest does not live here.  She asked if I knew how to reach him and I told her that I did not that he was not related to me.  This is obviously a collection agency.  After I told her that she had to wrong number I have not received another call.  It has been over 2 weeks.

This number calls me twice a day every day for the past two weeks!!!!   Debt Collection Service.... starts with a recording.     I just hit * & # keys several times..... don't know if it will work or not.     I have not debt to collect, so you know they are just calling random numbers.    I'm on Do Not Call with both house phone and cellphone...... I don't give out my cellphone to any of my creditors so it can't be from any of them.    This really sucks!!!!!   Should be a way to block those specific numbers from calling you!!!

i just got a new phone yesterday and at 8 in the morning this number calls me and has been calling me every two minutes... thanks everyone for posting your findings so i dont fall for some stupid scheme. I too got the Indian sounding man calling for a guy who didnt even live in the same state as me... he asked me for my SS number and I said "HELL NO!!!"... so thanks again to everyone!!!

Bothering my 80+ year parents, whom I no longer live with and haven't for some time.  They need to stop!  I don't even live in the state they are calling.

's me again - I called the number back - it WAS a collection agency - the fellow I spoke with had a far eastern accent (India?).  When I said the person they were looking for didn't live her he said he'd remove the number from his data base.

I receive a call today on my cell phone, I couldn't understand the guy.  I kept saying speak english.  After a while I had it with him, so I shut off my phone.

I called this number back and it said we want to renew your newspaper subscription. Press 1 to renew, press 2 to have your number taken off the list. I pressed 2, left my name and phone number, and it said it would take 24-48 hours to update. They have continued calling twice a day every day since.

I then called and pressed 1. I left the message pleading to stop calling me.

They never did. I'm going to start calling and pressing 1 and leaving the phone on the counter until I'm able to report them on the do not call list.

These jerks called at 8:00 a.m.!  Ughhh...They ought to be slapped!  With a lawsuit, that is!  However, I never answer unidentified calls, especially from 800, 866 or 877 numbers. Thank God for caller I.d.

My cell phone number apparently used to have been owned by a deadbeat.  His delinquent accounts have been passed from one debt collector to the next and to the next.  There is no ending in sight.  This debt collector is the latest of more than a dozen.  I let my phone ring the first time on 9/28/09, and I entered the number on my "Call Reject" list.  Since 9/28/09, my cell phone has rejected five more calls.  I did not set up for voicemail, so they can't leave any messages either.  Sadly, these morons don't learn.

Keeps calling but when we answer no one is there.  We called the number back and they're looking for my wife's ex-brother-in-law who she has not seen in almost 10 years and doesn't know where he lives.

Today I received two phone calls from this number. The second time they called they told me they had the last 4 digits of one of my credit cards and that my credit was more than $5,000. They also said that they had the last 4 digits of my social security number but the numbers they gave me were incorrect, as soon as I told them those weren't the same numbers on my SS they hung up the phone on me. I think these people are fake and you cant trust them.
