Call blocking exists with all wireless carriers. By default, a good 90% of the time, it's a service that you need to pay extra for. Unfair? Maybe, but by default, there's no way to block numbers without the use of a 3rd party program, or some sort of internal call blocking option within the phone.

HOWEVER, If you have a Samsung phone, there's a good chance that it comes with it's own internal blocking list. In most cases, it can be found:
Main Menu> Contacts> Reject List (or Block list)

What is meant by blocking the #? I called Bell & they claim blocking doesn't exist. I hate Bell too.

This is a tip from someone who works in a call centre (not by choice, but because it's the best money I can make to help support my family while pregnant).

Those are people on the other line, they are probably told to call a certain amount of times, and to only take your number off if certain key words are used.  Where I work, we sometimes have to call people back "just as a reminder" even if they said they would call us back.  I know it is annoying, but think that the person on the other end of the phone usually doesn't have a choice if they're calling you or not.  If you really want to yell at someone, please ask to speak to a supervisor, usually call centre agents can't do much about your complaints, except for sit there, listen to you, and get upset.  Just imagine the person on the other end is someone's grandma (there are quite a few elderly people who work at my call centre because it's the only place they are really qualified to work), and try to be kind.  Be patient and explain slowly and nicely that you would like your name/number off their list.  Sometimes you are actually required to read certain statements before you are allowed to take a number off, so interrupting or hanging up when they are halfway through the statement makes it so that they cannot remove your number.  Also, not answering doesn't help, because then it is assumed that you were busy/away from the phone, and they have no way of knowing that you have call display, or that you are in fact getting your messages.

At least there is a number that shows up, I keep getting calls from unknown when I'm at work, and I can't even call them back to see what they want, now that frustrates me!

As I said, I know it is frustrating, even being a call centre agent myself, I am often temped to scream at them when I get calls because of their pushy nature, but then I remember that if I'm rude, that's not helping anyone.  Also try to remember that for many people this is just a job, and they are not passionate about harassing you.  And it could be worse, they could be sitting on welfare eating your hard earned tax dollars.

Okay, sorry this was very long, hope it provided some in site!

This is not fair. We all have been getting calls from BMO Marketing. It, a computer, takes up our time and energy, and we get nothing out of it. BMO owes me at least 20 minutes. Just multiple that by all of us and that is a lot of time wasted, gone forever. They should be crediting me.

I was getting a different marketing number calling me so bloody often that I decided to simply block their calls.  An hour after doing so, this number starting calling me.

I don't want insurance and I don't want to have to tell whomever is on the line that I don't want insurance.  I'm blocking this one as well.

I would suggest finding out from your service provider if you too, have the ability to block a list of particular numbers.

Twice a day; eveyday at all different times of the day! It's nuts! I now HATE BMO!!! In fact, any time I see a booth of them promoting anything, I'm tempted to complain and make their employees complain internally so they know that the damage is done.

I called the number back.  Got Bank of Montreal recording, stayed on the line and selected the options until I actually spoke to a person.  He said they had a telephone system that was malfunctioning and they had been aware of it and thought it was fixed.  The system is automated to call customers (or maybe non-customers too) for the purposes of promotions, air miles, etc.  If the call is not answered, then their system automatically goes on to call the next number on the list until a customer answers and the rep speaks to you.  That is how it is supposed to work, but it has been skipping or hanging up on people even if they do answer, and go on to call the next person.

I told him this has been going on for a while and they should remove the entire automated system because obviously it is not working and it just serves to tick people off.  I told him if they want to speak to customers, they should manually call them and be prepared to talk if the call is answered, that people are fed up with telemarketing in general and to use an automated sytem again just ticks people off.

My practice is to never give out personal information, to never trust that the caller is who they say they are.  So even if you deal with a certain bank and they are calling, I would assume that it is not really them.  The best thing is to contact your bank yourself using a number that is published as belonging to them or see them in person to make changes to your banking.

Hi, I've called my bank, which is BMO Bank and they've told me that this number 866-447-6099 is Bmo marketing number, it's a direct call number, but it does'nt seems to work pretty well. You can't call BMO bank and tell them to take off your phone number, so they won't call back. I hope this works, I just did it.

Everyday, at lease twice, no messages, no answers, it might a snare to let you call back and tell her your personal informations to cancel the marketing call. The better way is report to the police.

Most institutions have a clause in their agreements that lets them keep your contact info forever so that marketing can call you even after you leave.  The agreements usually have affiliates clauses so anything related to BoM can call you.  It also trumps the do not call list.
