Yep, got the text and the (315) phone call afterwards.  All a scam.  Thanks for everyone before me to confirm it.  Confirmed with BoA, no alerts, no weird activity - all good.  Thanks.

You guys are retards! I got f****ng scared as hell after talking to the BofA people who called from that number this morning. It sounded just like when my husband got calls from them, so I gave them my information and got it all straightened out. Then I noticed that the number was different I looked it up only to find this thread.

"Oh god, what have I done" I thought as your tales of fraud calls and texts induced a panic attack. I sat on the phone for 35 minutes only to be told it was Bank of America's ATM fraud people and that they did their job!

So you a** hats who put crap on here may want to call them and get your fraudulent ATM charges taken care of!

This number is OKAY. Received a text message from this number saying debit card had been suspended due to irregular activity. Was suspicious, so I called debit fraud line directly and they confirmed the card had been suspended and that the number on the text was legitimate.

Per B of A, this number is not theirs & is a phony phishing scam!  I received a text message from this number stating, "FREE TEXT MSG alert - Bank of America has temporarily limited the use of your Check Card due to unusual activity. Please call 1-866-459-9195. To Opt Out reply STOP".  Just prior to getting the text, I also got a similar voice message from 866-242-6289 claiming to be B of A & telling me I needed to return the call before I'd be able to use my debit card again.  The message also stated I should reference a message code it provided & call by a specific date - 14 days out (idiots)!!  I called the number on back of my debit card & spoke with B of A.  The rep did not recognize either number as belonging to B of A & told me mine was the second call of this kind from a customer in the last few minutes!  Both numbers appear to belong to scamming thieves.  B of A told me they never text regarding fraud.  They advised to always call the number on back of your card (or other legitimate number you have).  In case you answer a call like this, never give any personal info out over the phone to an incoming caller.  Always end the call & contact the number on your card.  It's the holidays & these lowlifes amp up their activity & new ones come out of the woodwork.  Disgusting....like life isn't stressful enough without this!

I also got the same exact message.  I don't even have an account with Bank of America.  Apparently, my phone number belonged to the lady who has/had an account with BoA.  So annoying!  Thanks Paul for the message!

You are correct it is not a scam.  What I found out about the BOA outsourcing is what really disturbs me - 30,000 layed off since May 2012 - closing branches - telephone banking and customer service jobs in USA gone - where? Phillipines and Costa Rica?

So this call/text is not a scam - just evidence that we got the shaft - after they got billions in bail out $$$

I have been with BOA since they were Nations Bank - this text message and the way the Non Bank of America Rep spoke (outsourced rep in other country) made me very suspicious and uncomfortable -

This is an Out Sourced Call Center from Costa Rica calling and texting - after a $45 billion dollar bail out - Bank of America receiving a huge portion of those billions - they add salt to our wounds and take 30,000 more jobs out of USA since May of 2012.  I am not going to be a "dummy" any longer - my Bank of America days will soon be behind me.

the 866-459-9195 is Bank of America - however - the bank is outsourcing to Costa Rica and the Phillipines- Bank of America layed off more than 30,000 American workers in 2012 and went on a hiring spree out sourcing overseas.  I got a text message that my account was temporarily blocked - the only way I could speak to someone online or via telephone that I was certain worked for Bank of America and was right here in the USA - was to go into my local branch.

$45 billion dollar bail out and they take 30,000 jobs out of the country in 2012 - I think it is time to seek a new bank - a local Credit Union sounds good.

It's not a scam, dummies. BoA will stop use of your card if it looks like strange activity. You have to call this number to reinstate it. You'll know it's not a scam because they won't ask for your account number and will be reading transactions to you.

This actually is a BofA fraud dept number, however it is best if you get a notice to call the number on your card so you know for sure you are calling your bank.  This dept notifies people if their card was compromised because a business where you used the card had information stolen.  I agree it sounds suspicious and  I wouldn't call that # and give information but  it may be worth calling the number on your card to verify if your card # has been compromised.

It's not a scam. It's the legitimate Fraud Department. When you call in, if you call from a different phone number that is on file, they have trouble finding your information. When they finally do pull up your information, they need to verify you are the person you say you are. Therefore, they ask you to verify information, not to tell them.

Got the same call. The number is from Utica, NY. I now live in Syracuse although my cell number is from the south. Wonder what they would say if I asked them for the address and told them I would be right over to get this resolved :-)))))

This number is a scam. They are trying to obtain your banking information. I called Bank of America myself and they said that the number does not belong to them. I reported so that other's would be aware of such a scam. There's lot's of scams out there and you must be alert.

I received the same text message and for my peace of mind, I went into the Bank of America center. Turns out there were fraudulent transactions on my account. I got a temp card and changed all my info. If you are hesitant at least check it out. Your piece of mind is worth it.

I checked my email and they sent email as well. When, I logged into my B of A account online, I went to the alerts sections and all alert sent was logged.

This was legit.  Should always call the number on your card but nice to get notification through txt from B of A.

I'd also received an email and had my debit card declined as a credit card last night.  Still worked as debit with pin though.

8664599195 - Just stay FAAR away from any number you get in message just call to the number backside of your card only. After I spoke to the rep(8664599195) he transferred to claims department, there the system asked me to enter my SSN and the account details. There I got suspicious but I actually entered the details, then the call was transferred to a women there she asked me is this about the claims and asked me to give the claims ID and transaction details but I don't have one. Then I was asked to call when I have the details. This was stupid and immediately I go-ogled the number and got freaked out.  When I checked my online account there was no unauthorized transaction made after 10 mins when I checked again there is an unauthorized transaction. Called the number back of the ATM card. The person said the number might be LEGIT because I informed my current address for the card re-issue that address was updated in BOA system. Then my new claims was submitted to BOA and its under processing.

Also, I know it's not really from BoA because they use a short code system.  I have very cheap phone service that does not accept or send messages from or to short codes (I had to turn off all of my BoA alerts because of this).
