Caller said they called from Windows Tech dept.. I asked if the were calling from MS..would not confirm.. I asked to call back.. they wanted to remote into my laptop, to delete the virus my computer was sending out.. I told them I worked for Microsoft sales ( I do not actually work for MS) and they hung up.. Just as I suspected I would, i also let them know I would report them to BBB and law enforcement.
Thanks

Michael Adams, (866) 460-7455, with a thick accent, claiming to be with Windows Tech Support, just called at 1:30PM, telling me to click flag-R and type in EVENTVWR and hit enter. Apparently, he just fell off of the boat. Could we, please, track him down, and unplug this criminal? I'm on a do not call list.

Michael from the US with a heavy Indian accent claimed he was calling to fix a computer problem. Stated he was from Microsoft as well.

The is a SCAM!!! They have called my cell and house phone several times in the past month. Everytime I play along and say hold on I have to turn my computer on, put them on speakerphone and mute and then proceed to watch TV. Every few minutes they say, "Hello are you there?". I respond with "Yes, my computer is old and still turning on!" After about 10-15 minutes of this they seem to get annoyed. I did get to keep someone on the phone for longer than an hour! "It finally turned on...how do we connect?...Oh No, it turned off and I need to turn it back on! I must have not charged my laptop...." I keep going in circles like that to keep them from calling someone who might not know that it is a scam!
SCAM!!

Had a blocked number just call me but they said they were from microsoft support. I knew it was BS just from that, but then he said my computer was sending messages to them because it had a virus or something. I almost started laughing but led him on just to see what else i could get out of him. He wanted me to the google chrome address bar (which he instructed me to like i was an elderly person that pisses me off even more because you know that's probably who he gets with this crap) and type in itv.name After he told me that i laughed at him and said some things i'll not repeat. Just a heads up to people.

Do NOT give any information. The caller would not give any information except this phone number. It IS a SCAM. Do NOT respond with any information. PS - the won't a name, sounds foreign to U.S. and said at the end - "you're wasting my time."

Got a call stating that I was generating Windows operating system errors and they wanted me to confirm my Windows license ID. I assume this is a scam because when I tried to refer them to my IT department, they refused.

I have received the call as outlined above, and I ran a number search to find these postings, which saved me big time. I have been having trouble with my computer and had contact my IT for help, so I found the call more credible. IT is a total scam.

I got this call and was suspicious from the start. I asked for information about who it was and was given this:
Mark
866-460-7455 x1011
I saw this thread and wanted to see for myself if it was a scam. He talked me through opening the event viewer on my PC and said Administrative Events there indicate a virus that will eventually render my PC useless, and he wanted to help. He sent me to this link and wanted me to http://www.tvi.name/ click the "Join Remote Control Session." I said I would not give him control of my PC. He countered by saying that I'd be in control and he'd just have secondary control. I said I wouldn't do that, either, and he quickly said he could not help me and hung up.
Total scam. Likely he installs a virus on the PC under the guise of a virus scanner, and maybe even can collect cash from folks on top of them compromising their PC to him.
I have up to date McAfee. I do have some admin events posting 2-4 times a minute and will look into what's wrong there. I am curious how he got my number...

Roger and Austin wanted to sell me lifetime Norton Internet Security and lifetime window technical support. They said their company was "Windows Support." They gave me another website to check out their legitimacy and when I called the 800 number on that site, they had not heard of such an offer and told me not to buy it. They said that they knew my computer had trojan viruses. I called the company who I really had a service contract with and asked them to check my computer for viruses and said I had none.
Do not fall for these guys.

It is a SCAMMER. They claim to be calling from Microsoft Tech Support, but Microsoft Tech Support never calls people unsolicited. They tell you that your computer is sending out viruses or is causing errors and they claim to be able to help you to fix them. Then they trick you into giving them control of your computer using TeamViewer, pretending to fix the problem. But that allows them to secretly install their own virus or keystroke logger in the process, which allows them to secretly control your computer after they have supposedly finished helping you to fix your problem and hung up. This allows them to later steal your banking, credit card, identity, passwords and any other information that you have or enter into your computer. Please report it to the federal government's Internet Crime Complaint Center at http://www.ic3.gov/ and also your state attorney general.
