called and left no message

LHR called my house phone asking for (name withheld)

I would not give out any information saying I didn't know who the caller was or the purpose of their call.

Called would not identify self or reason for call and simply repeated original request.

I asked again and got garbled name.

So I said "All right give my your number, and if I am able to pass it on the person may wish to return your call" --  and  was give 866-473-1001 and an extension, along with the threatening admonition "(name withheld) better call by Monday"

Later I called that number and they were closed for the weekend. So much for by Monday.

Still later I learned the number was related to LHR a collection agency in NY.  

Do a Google for particulars.   Not nice.

We get this call for one of our neighbors.  They call every week.  It is a collection agency, and I'm afraid if our number is in their records, our credit could be ruined.

Lewis and Hastie get sued a lot; they lose a lot of the suits because their organization and collection accounts are based on lies, hearsay and bogus documents.

Go to FTC.gov and file a complaint this would be great for all of you above. If enough people file compliants, the government will sue LHR on behalf of the consumer.

They  have letters for making them not contact you and validate the debt. Do not tell them not to write - tell them not to call and write you only - which is all in the letter.  

Don't forget to report them to FTC.gov!
