You're an unhappy individual who insults people as a means to feel better about yourself. With that being said, you are an even bigger loser than people who don't pay there bills on time for this reason. And although I will throw and insult right now, it is directed to you and only you(Not a general public). On that note, I got a call from this number because my Visa was 20$ over limit and I was about to hit Day 30 without payment. Thanks TD for the call and reminding me in my busy schedule. Most banks would not do that.

I see what someone that works at TD is saying here and I have this question for you....what about getting continuous calls on our cellphones from this number when we don't have any accounts or dealings with TD Bank and neither of us ever have!

So please, don't say, TD called you because you owe money and it's legit and pay your bills, etc because that's BS!

I'm 100% positive that if you are referring to the # 1.866.485.5354 then you are being lied to as that is INDEED TD BANK Collections...

This is way too fishy. I just got this call and I know I am not behind on payments for anything because anything TD charges me for is automatically withdrawn from my account and I know my bank statements.

I say, don't be fooled! Check with your branch to be sure. Just as I will check with mine.

Rather than bitching and moaning on the Internet about this number, try calling it back!
I have to laugh at the a$$holes who keep insisting it's a fraudulent call.  Call up Easyline and tell them you're late on your payments and need to talk to someone.  They'll transfer you to this number.  Morons.

maybe if you added TD Canada Trust to the caller ID then people would answer their phones.  toll free numbers usually mean telephone solicitors.

This company keeps calling and leaving messages for Heather Barrow. Nobody by that name lives here nor ever did. They just persist in leaving messages. I am registered with the CRTC Do Not Call List and they still keep calling. I am fed up.

After more digging into this number and similar numbers and additional fraud information.

RCMP advise:

1. Collect as much information as possible about the caller.
2. Do not give out any information on yourself with regards to credit cards, etc.
3. Call your bank through a known number, like the one on the back of your card.
4. Verify the information you have collected from the alleged bank representative.
5. If the bank can not verify the information, then report the caller to the appropriate authorities bank, RCMP, Canadian Anti-Fraud Bureau.

The most important thing to understand is never give personal information unless you have initiated the phone call to a known and trusted bank number (back of Credit Card).

The scammers are the ones posting to this blog and others saying "Pay your bills!" or some other phrase to that effect.

I do not bank with TD bank so I don't know why they have to keep calling my phone. I think they are calling for my boyfriend, so annoying. I keep blocking their calls. I will be talking to him about it when he wakes up. Take my number off your list. I bank with a different bank altogether

The reality of the situation is when these scammers do call they are off shore and are not subject to Canadian Law.  This number called with only TD Bank on the call display.  There was no number associated with the call display.  They did leave this number as a call back number 866-485-5354.  I typed it in my search engine, low and behold, this is the first thing on the list.  Complaints about this number.  I have had similar phone calls from people pretending to be RBC on a 855-560-1406 number.  Currently RBC is investigating this number and other numbers in that range.  In a contact email, they have already stated all numbers show up on the RBC website.  These scammers have some information, but not all your information.  They are "Phishing" for more information.  The banks already have your information.

1. Check your bank website for all contact numbers.
2. Report to RCMP Phonebusters or Canadian Anti-Fraud Agency and your bank (more imortantly, the security/fraud division).
3. If you do answer and talk to somebody, then get the following information:

   a. Full Name of the person calling/Employee Number
   b. Any and all call back numbers
   c. Address of their location (Street Address, City, Province (State), Country
   d. Tell them you will call them back after verifying the above information

4. Do not cave in to threats or harassment as it is their job to separate you from your money.  Banks do not threaten or harass people, they do their best at friendly customer service.
5. If they tell you to mail your money to a specified address, write the address down to pass along to the appropriate authorities.  Always do transactions with your bank directly.
6. Be aware of mail fraud and email fraud.  They will try to send you official looking notices.  These items are easy to fabricate.
7. If they keep harassing, then notify them you will be contacting your bank, the RCMP, the Anti-Fraud Agency and as many news agencies to warn them of this SCAM.

The Scammers are on here saying it is not a SCAM.

When you miss a payment and TD calls you a human leaves a message yelling at you to call them back.  Never a message from this number.  no human message = ignore...

If you are concerned about your credit NEVER call back on the number they called you on.  Never respond to any call even if caller id says its TD.  get the general account number from TD's website or your local branch and initiate contact yourself.

Telemarketer
This is a scam. IT IS NOT TD!! Do not believe the people that are telling it is TD.

They claim to be from Action Collection Alert - they say if you give X amount of dollars they will erase the debt you have with them. However, you have no debt with them. DO NOT PAY. Start giving their number out so they get a ton of calls!

If you are in collections 2 things must be present: 1. You must receive a letter from company you owe and 2. Then they call you.

I have been reciving this call for over a year now. If it was something I hadn't paid my credit report would have already been affected and that has not happened. I also know for a FACT that I am not behind on any bills.

Just let it go to voicemail - if you do talk to them DO NOT provide them with any personal information. At no point should anyone ever be asking for your SIN

I have to agree w/some of the ppl. that have posted ..... some have facts straight and others don't. This is TD Canada Trust and if they are contacting you, you must either owe them something or hold some kind of account w/them.  As one person has say, "pay your bills".

Perhaps so - but the number in question is 1 866 5355 so your information has nothing to do with the subject of this thread. If you had read through the info on here you would have seen that 5354 was a legit number, but that the number in question is one digit off - and not a legit TD number.

100% SCAM!!!
I got a call from these guys 1 866 485 5355, they claimed to be TD and provided a reference number and asked me to call back. I know 100% that I am not behind on any payments whats so ever, so I decided to call the number on the back of my visa card instead of the number that was provided. The visa rep informed me that the reference number given to me was bogus and did not exist in thier systems at all. Also confirmed that my accounts are all paid up to date and no payments are in the rears. They advised me to never give out any information over the phone unless calling the number listed on the back of my card.

You can simiply contact your MP/MPP for assistance.  They can verify who live in your household and who's not. How ?  Voters list. Almost every Canadian citizen over the age of 18 are on that list. They even got the address, phone number & date of birth of each individual. Unless the collection agency is looking for a person who is under 18 of ago or homeless, then you are out of luck.
Ask the name of the agency, name of the person(agent) who handle the case & the case number. Call your MP/MPP, ask him/her to contact the agency on your behalf. Trust me, most MP/MPP are willing to help. Cause you know, there is no free lunch. When it's election time, you know who you should give your vote to.
For people just want to block unwanted telemarketing calls. Please check out my post @386-233-3694
