This number actually called my neighbor and asked my neighbor information, and asked that my neighbor essentially hunt me down. Not hard! She wrote down the number and name for a Lisbeth Ramirez at ext. 6362. I called and the operated asked me to verify my address and last 4 of my SSN. I was recently in an accident and have had lots of calls from insurance companies, etc. so assumed it was related to this. When the last 4 of my SSN didn't match she asked for my full SSN. I told her I wasn't comfortable providing that information, so she asked for my birth date. I told her that I would gladly confirm or deny a birth date she has on file for me, but would not provide mine. I also asked that she explain why she can not tell me what PRI stands for. At that time she said, "sorry, we must have the wrong Vanessa" and hung up.

This is an attempt to access your bank account for future transactions. I worked for this sleaze ball company for three years...sorry god and country but I was starving and ON PAROLE for identity theft so this should paint a picture of the company it's self (yes I could access thousands of peoples information right down to ss# and birth date.... They will not accept money orders as they are quite easily forged and if they don't get your account number with tracking number, they can't run illegal transactions without your permission every time your account shows a balance...yes, we were trained to do that. To everyone. Every time. The names used in contact with the company are fake. Employees pick one or make one up during training and before they get to use the phones to harass folks. Go NAMBLA. GO UAFS LIONS. GO YOUNG COLLEGE BOYS. I LOVE FORT SMITH!

In response to 111's previous comment: go f*ck yourself. DO NOT judge unless you have been in that type of situation yourself. And it's obvious that you work for that company so you are completely biased. I have fallen behind before w/my loan payments and have NEVER given ANY money to the collectors-I make my payments online w/my servicer. Once it goes to collections you absolutely can still deal w/the servicer of your loan and do not have to give money to any a**hole like 111 @ the collection agency. And threatening homes and assets is ILLEGEAL and these companies have no right to do that because there is no way they can get a hold of your home or assets-it is a scare tactic to try & get $ out of you. Get a f*cking life you do***e bag.

Called asking questions about a neighbor who I don't know  and refused to answer questions about their affiliation even though they called to harass me, not the other way around......very rude.  I am not nor have ever been a reference for this person and what they are doing smacks of harassment.  Their sleuthing skills suck.....probably why they are only finding work as debt collectors.  Just ignore these idiots and one day perhaps they will be forced to get a life.....

DCS and other debt collection agencies call my number on a regular basis trying to reach the previous person assigned with my telephone number, prior to 2009.  No efforts to explain this to them in a courteous or angry tone has been successful in penetrating their numb skulls that they'll never reach this person at his former number.  I suspect the economic times have put the screws on debt collectors. I, for one, will be very happy to see them go under and out of business.  Just realize it's going to get worse as the worthless cesspool of humanity working at these call centers get even more pressure to collect outstanding debts. F*** 'em, feed 'em fish heads!

I have been getting calls, twice a day today. The place the loan originates from does not have my law school in there system, so they won't defer my loan. Never mind the fact that as a law student I have no job. I love how because they have an incomplete system I have to deal with this crap. What is america coming to when a human being can be harassed while trying to better their life. First thing out of law school I am suing all these people!!

Ditto here for me. I got a call while driving on my cell with them saying that I was a co-signer on my daughters student loan. The same thing, threatening my home and garnishing my wages. She wanted me to make a payment over the phone. I told them I was going to talk to her about it and call back. Not good enough. She wanted me to give her my daughters cell number to do a three way con call. Believe that? I'm driving and she wants me to set up a con-call ? When I co-signed my daughters student loan I did not have my present cell number so Im not really sure how they got it. She then read the legal mumbo jumbo and said she was going to tell her client that I refused to pay.....which I never did. Who the heck would give out their banking info to someone that they dont know from a hole in the ground which is where these people come from.

We have a client who had a loan with GMAC and now this company keeps calling him and his grandmother. They told the grandmother to give them her bank number at the bottom of her check and the bank's routing number. she gave them a check once, but told them she would only give them a money order.

I received a call from them at my company. They asked for me by only my first name. When asked who was calling, the caller gave Daniella as her name. No company name. When I answered the phone she addressed why she was calling quite frankly - 'This is Daniella and I am attempting to collect a debt to your husband of a past due student loan of $X, totalling $X. How would you like to pay this today?' My first thoughts were shock, as I was at work, I am not on his loan application - reference, etc. I was a student in high school. The company he has a loan with has NO INFORMATION regarding myself or that my husband and I are married. When I questioned this Daniella how she got my information she stated that I was a reference. Then when I esplained that is not possible she stated that his reference gave her my information. His ONLY references are his parents. I know for a fact that they WOULD NOT give my information. They would simply take a message and relay it to us. And they have not been contacted once. By the end of the conversation, when this Daniella realized I WAS NOT going to give her any money, she threatened our assets, including our home, would be in jeopardy. I told her that she did not need to call me at work and disrupt my day since I am not on the loan, I am not a reference on the loan, and I was not a third party contact on the loan. At that point she made, what I imagine to be a pre written generic statement, that 'this was an attempt to collect his debt and it would be noted in his file' and hung up.

My husband made several attempts to contact Daniella back. Without any returned messages, she calls and accuses that he never contacted her and, again, that our assets were in danger - explaining that our home (even giving the address) was going to be seized if he did not make/confirm a payment over the phone right then. Being that I pay the bills and handle the bank accounts, he did not have the information. He told Daniella to call him back in 10 min and he would gather the info for her...she kept saying 'when you call me back'. At that point my husband explained that her AGAIN that he wanted HER to call him back. She, again, threatened him with our home. He got the info she needed regarding the account and we did set a ONE TIME transaction.

I wanted to know exactly what information they had regarding my husband and his 'account' with them. So I called back. This Daniella was completely fine calling my work and demanding money, releasing my husbands personal information but when I call requesting it, it was a 'private matter'. I asked to speak to her supervisor. I was given a Jason Monaham/Monahan (he did not speak clearly). This 'gentleman' was extremely rude. He attempted to lecture me to pay MY payments and I wouldn't be in this mess. That he 'wasted 5 mins of his life listening to me complain when it was my husbands fault'. That 'he had gotten his payment and thats all he wanted'.

This company has also called my mother regarding my student loan. They demanded that she make payment right away. She stated the man she spoke with was very polite. She assumed it was just someone with the loan company and gave him a payment over the phone of over $500. Then, 4 mo later she started getting statements from the loan company stating they haven't received payment. When she called and explained that DCS had collected 4 mo ago, they stated DCS didn't report to them. Through the contacts she had made with the loan company, she learned that DCS was attempting to say they never received payment. My mother keeps very good records of her accounts, as she has been in this situation before, and was able to prove that she did make payments.

My experience with this company was NOT pleasant. They are rude. They attempt to intimidate and threaten. They are not, in any way, trying to help you from court precedings or arrangements to pay back your debt. I would suggest if you receive a call from them, you call your loan company. DO NOT attempt to 'work' with these people. It is pointless.

For those of you on here making comments like 'if you paid your debt...', DO NOT try to lecture me. DO NOT try to tell me how to pay my bills. In the scheme of money, my child comes first, then house, my car, FOOD, gas/electric, misc bills, then - IF I have anything left - student loans. Living in the economy today and in Elkhart County, the #1 county affected by this current crisis, that is how I will handle my money. These companies will be damn lucky that I pay them $10 a year at this point. And DCS employees should be damn lucky they are only over the phone. I know in person they would not speak to myself, or my husband, they way they do over the phone.

Call from DCS, Diversified Collection Services - a collection agency, looking for a neighbor. Per federal law this is legal. However, they may only call you once (also per federal law). They also do not need to give you the name of the company unless you specifically ask them. Since the C in DCS stands for collection, they are not allowed to tell you the full name since it would then be sharing info with you that a debt is owed (also federal law). I don't agree with the federal law. I believe that calling neighbors (by the way I live a block away) should not be allowed. As a general rule, I believe that anyone who doesn't share the name on the caller ID is already trying to hide something. If they want to hide it, don't call.

Received a call from this nunber. A woman who said her name was "Mandy" at extension 6041 and was looking to speak to my nephew. She said she wanted to give him information and it was not bad but good for him, ??? When I asked what the DCS stood for she replied, " I cannot tell you based on privacy laws and if your nephew wants to give us the permission to talk to you then I will." Seems aweful vague and I am not yet at the bottom of this. Just beware until more information is available about this number.

Call from this number for my husband.  The caller indicated she was calling to get a reference on someone. Indicated her name was "Bernadette" and left her extention (6236). When I asked for a company name or who the reference was in regard to she hesitated and said "Uh, I can give you the company initials... DCS." and then hung up.  A little suspicious I would say....

DCS is company know for being brutal over the phone.  THey collect on student loans.  Basically they are out to get your money.  I had to learn this the hardway, I was pursuaded to make payments on my student loan. (I KNEW IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO) But this gentleman by the name of "Joe Schmit" or something to that sounding told me that my minimum payments were 200 dollars a month.  I told him that my hours were cut and that I was not able to make that payment. Long story short.... I hung up.  He started to call me every day, until he caught me on the phone at work after pay day. Since i was under the impression that this was the only option I decided to make the payment.  I did some research on the internet, and to my surprise this Joe guy ripped me off.  He knew I had a family, He knew that my money was tight, and he knew that I was going through a divorce.  Even knowing all this did not stop him from giving me the break i needed.  It turned out that my payments shoudl have been under 100 dollars.  LIARS!!! IF YOU ARE A HARD WORKING AMERICAN.... Trying to do the right thing, but still you come up short YOU ARE NOT ALONE....  I found this guy name "K" he is a student loan collector showing people what their options are.  Go check out his website he'll explain the student loan collector's culture and what they are about.... He'll spill all the beans...
