I keep getting calls from the number but decided not to answer. They call 7 days a week a couple of times each day. Who the h*** is this calling people for no reason what so ever, except to run a scam.
Why is it that we can not get any help from anyone on these type of calls? By-the-way, they just called
me a few minutes ago.

8665013683 calls several times a day, ringing until the answer machine picks it up and then they hang up
| Greg 2011-06-06 21:02:14 Unknown |
Fourth call this week - answer machine picks up - they hang up. Caller ID says "Not Provided". I wonder after using this website if people across the nation get the same phrase on the caller ID - or is it a local tele co standard.

I have the same report as Greg on 11-16-2010 at 10:18 EST. What is their purpose but up to no good.

So tired of these people.......

Calling daily. 3 Rings and nobody on the line when answered. Calling back the number yields a "this number is disconnected recording". Sure, it's a scam or some other unwarranted intrusion (I am on the No Call Registry), but how do you make it stop?
Any suggestions on how to identify and make it stop? Or what tools can block the number?

From another poster
In the past I was involved with doing volunteer work with autistic (and other) kids. I have never heard of these folks. As always, when I want to know about a charity, I go to Charity Navigator .ORG for reliable information.
There was a "Wings of Hope" listed, but it was not even remotely associated with autism. I am pretty sure that they are not the ones calling, and the callers may have intentionally used a name similar to that of a rated charity - it is a common tactic.
If they are not listed on Charity Navigator, and are soliciting nationally (which seems to be the case), my personal belief is that they are probably not legitimate. I have found some tiny little charities on Charity Navigator, some of them well rated. If a charity is not listed on Charity Navigator, and I am not personally familiar with the people involved, or involved myself, then it doesn't get my money.
If you want to help by donating money to an autism related charity (a worthy cause), I strongly suggest that you go to charitynavigator.org and search on the word "autism". You will find a number of reputable groups, some with 3 and 4 star ratings. That way you will know that your money is being used as efficiently and effectively as possible.
In my opinion there are few individuals destined for a lower level of Hell than those who run fake charities. Dante reserved a special place in Hell for betrayers. Charity scammers are betrayers three times over. They victimize the donor. They victimize the afflicted population they claim to represent. And they create a cynicism that suppresses our desire to engage to listen to our better angels and engage in acts of an altruistic nature. They are thrice betrayers, thrice cursed, and thrice damned. So sayeth the lone stranger ;^) .
(I'm not as old testament as I sound, just having a little fun at the expense of the low lifes.)

What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialed the call, and it kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer!!!

Charity Navigator is a good organization. BUT, currently they have evaluations for a bit over five thousand charities (generally, the larger and more popular) in their system. The IRS has an approved list of more than 750,000 public charities. There are hundreds of thousands worthwhile charities not on Charity Navigator. That said, no one, myself included, appreciates random calls from whoever is behind this number.

These people are REALLY irritating. I have call blocker on my phone system and have blocked 3 of their numbers so far - (866)-501-3689; (866)-501-2732; and this one (866)-501-3683 I just keep blocking them. Maybe they will get the hint. If not, I will go through my phone company and /or the Federal and State authorities on these creeps.

I got a call this morning at 9:36 - my caller ID:: Unavailable and the number. They have been calling for weeks
but I screen all calls so I never pick up - only if I recognize the name and/or number. I also set my answering machine to pick up after just two rings to catch all the computer dialed calls - this has stopped many of the calls I used to get. Silence is golden.
