Same here. Only we already paid it. It was at the airport and our car was towed. So HOW did I get my car back if I didn't pay the impound fee? Scumbags!

Received a call and the girl left a vm. Listened to it a couple of times. The quality of the call was poor and it sounded like speaker phone to boot. No wonder is broke the keeps farming out to companies instead of handling their own business.

Just got a call from this number. It was obvious it was a collections company. They have been trying to collect on a $60 parking ticket from 2006... 6 years ago. I walked out as the meter maid was putting the ticket on my truck. I had a timer on my phone set for when it expired, as I was in a cafe studying that day and didn't want a ticket. It was like the guy was sitting out there waiting with 1 minute left, to see if I'd come out. I swore that I would not pay it until I was sure that they'd spent at least $60 mailing me notices over the years. At about $1.50 for each letter mailed, with postage, I figure that's about 40 letters. They've sent me at least 2 dozen, so I've still got awhile to go. I figure they probably purchased the debt for less than half that $60, so that means I've already put them into the red :D

These people keep calling looking for the son of the people we bought the house from more than 5 years ago. They cross the address to find a number. When contacted they are RUDE and don't want to straighten it out. Change to an unlisted number may help.
Steve 2011-06-06 21:02:14 Unknown
Nothing can be done to stop them. They are not breaking ANY law I'm aware of and they KNOW it. I changed my home number. I will never tell a stranger my SS#, especially when I owe zero debt (including parking tix).

Caller asks for my husband, says he has two outstanding parking tickets in Denver. Wants to know is I will resolve this matter right now with a credit card. I quiz him and find he can not provide our correct address or city or type of vehicle and tells me a license number I don't recognize.
Dave 2011-06-06 21:02:14 Unknown
My credit score is 820 and these jerks think I owe them ???? They keep calling my wife's cell. Her number (before it was recycled) used to belong to someone name Harold Burgess who apparently owes them some money. I am NOT Harold, so update your records and stop wasting my wife's minutes !!

From BBB website:
Tell them to stop contacting you. According to federal law, a debt collector cannot continue to contact you once told to stop. After confirming you do not owe the debt in question, send a letter via certified mail to the debt collector advising them to cease contact. Keep a copy of the letter and the return receipt. The debt collector can only contact you thereafter to advise you there will be no further contact or to inform you that the agency is filing legal action.
The question I have is: where do I send the registered letter? Maybe I will try the Denver office.

Thank you so much for your entry. I currently work for the firm. It isnt a scam and we do our best to try and get outstanding tickets that have been turned over to our office resolved. We do not report to the credit bureau because we are a law firm, not a collection agency. We collect on behalf of our clients. Thats all.
currentemployee 2011-06-06 21:02:14 Unknown
So answer the phone, let us know and we will. You arent the brightest crayon in the box are ya?

currentemployee-eat many bags of my feces. you are a scourge upon decent people and your line of work has no honor whatsoever. your shady tactics, lies, and misdirections are not appreciated, are not work, and you deserve all the worst things this planet can possibly offer.

I received a call from them, called back and they had a parking ticket for me from 2001. They had a legitimate license plate # of one of my past vehicles, but I will still skeptical. I spoke with Janet at the Denver Parking Violations Bureau, and she confirmed that they do send all collections to this agency as of this year.
She stated the reason they did not attempt to collect earlier was that they are not a legal acting collection agency, therefore the collections piece was nearly impossible.
I paid this $30 ticket, received a faxed confirmation from the attorney's office, and will be following up with the City of Denver in 30 days to receive my "receipt of payment" from them.
This issue was not on my credit report (yet), probably b/c they recently hired this attorney's office to collect.
As long as you ask for details with this Office, they will give you what you need to confirm they are not a scam.

a message was left on my vm from this number. it was a recording that said it was Jason Koontz from something like wynberger, doggenblair & sampson trying to collect a debt. it sounded fishy because it was asking for my maiden name ... do not trust it!
Harrasment by Jason Koonz 2011-06-06 21:02:14 Unknown
I was getting harrassing phone calls every day from the same recording. Jason Koonz from Winelogger, Doggenblair and Sampson law offices. I called them and they wanted my SS#. I knew they were fising so I turned the tables on them. I told her I knew I had no debt in collection and they could only call me 3 x's a week. I wanted their address and information and she hung up on me. I think I will keep calling them everyday.
I called my AG's office and reported them. There is a complaint on file in WA State. Don't trust these slime buckets. Just report them right away.

These guys are trying to collect on a parking ticket I had for an expired parking meter back in 1996. Good luck with that!
also annoyed 2011-06-06 21:02:14 Unknown
do people really respond to a message saying "you NEED to call me"...about ever hinting as to why? And, given they don't hint as to why, what possible good could come of it? This is another expired parking meter ticket...Denver....geesh, I can't even remember how far back this goes, but probably four to six years. Is this really a profitable line of work, LOL? In an economic downturn? Thanks for the information from the above folks.
jj 2011-06-06 21:02:14 Unknown
I have a near-perfect credit score & no outstanding debts. Based on comments above, it appears this is a collection agency. Do Not Call registry has way too many loopholes - we're getting more calls from 800 & 866 numbers now than we ever did when we were not on the list! I refuse to answer them.
NewDealers 2011-06-06 21:02:14 Unknown
Yep
smae guy as above comment, I am keeping a log and am about to file suit just for fun. Idiots.
