Received several voicemail messages in the last 2 days to call this number.  When I called it did not identify who the caller was.  I was, put me on hold  and when someone came on the line asked me for my account number.  I asked who I was talking with and they identified themselves as being with Citibank.  Of course, I said I was not about to give out any account number and they said there was unusual activity on my account and that I could call the Citibank number on my card to verify.  I did and Citibank did not place the call or found anything unusual on the account.  So I have to assume that it was a spam

I also thought this number was a fraud number at first. However, when I retrieved the message for me, I got connected to a rep. from Citi bank. After verifying that my card had been misused by some other guys, the Rep. closed this card and sent me another one.

This is a valid number from citi bank. You can trust it.

It is a valid number from Citibank.  I had call from this number, I didn't pick up then listened to the msg left from the call.  It is from Citibank fraud department, so I logged into my account online, checked and surely there was a warning on my card.  Called the number listed on the warning and surely there were some transactions over the last couple days that I didn't know about, so got the card canceled and they are issuing me new a new card.

I got a call from this number a few times in a row.  When I called back they said they were from Citi.  They asked for a lot of personal information which against my best judgment I gave to them.  After I hung up with them, I called the number on the back of my card.  Although they couldn't verify the number specifically they did verify that my account had been closed for security reasons (as the person that called said).  I then went to my account online which also verified that my account was closed for security reasons.

That was good enough for me to confirm that it was the Citi Bank Fraud department.

Received a phone call that sounded extremely suspicious. When I called back, the guy was extremely rude and unprofessional. Was suspicious, so called Citibank's direct line. They confirmed the call.

I believe that a lot of these calls are originating from call centers outside of the country, so that's why the quality of service varies.

I've been getting a rash of these calls lately. Even AFTER I called Citi and verified the info. I checked it out. Its legit, but i only use my card for two recurring monthly charges for the last 5 years, So what is up with that? Suspicious activity? Perhaps its my lack of activity and they are goating me to use the card more often... They say that it was operator error in not removing my name from the automated caller

I got the same call. Since I was suspicious, I called the number on the back of my credit card instead of the one left on the voicemail, and it turned out to be legitimate. Please call the number back as this may indicate that potentially there is fraudulent activity on your credit card (Citi cards). Most of the time it is to verify your activity if the spending pattern is different from your usual pattern.
They also have SMS-text number (70650) which is also legit.

That happened to me as well. You need to ask to be transferred to a secuirty representative and clear the specific charge item that triggered the potential fraud event. What they do is to take the last x number of charges and apply a formula to it. If the charge in question (ex, a company based outside of US) is not cleared to be legit, that will keep the "suspicion score" high the next time they run the formula and you will get the fraud alert call again. Once I cleared that specific charge, I got no more calls. HTH...

It IS Citibank early warning system.  They are trying to help make sure the card isn't being used by someone other than you.  They called after I made several large purchases while traveling.  I'm grateful for the scrutiny.

The 866-517-5348 number is Citi Fraud Charges - they suspected unusual charges on your account.  If you do not call back within 24-48 hours they will discontinue use of your card.

They saved me from frad charges on my new Citi card - received it last week.  Call 877-215-2648 to connect to the department.

If you receive this call, definitely DO NOT ignore it! It is Citi's anti-fraud dept trying to contact you. I received several calls every hour from them today and I ignored them until I couldn't take it anymore. Instead of calling the number back, I called the customer service number on the back of my card and the system shot me straight to the anti-fraud dept. They told me that I had a few fraudulent transactions made under my account number. So, thanks Citi!

We received four phone calls today from 866-517-5348, but since it wasn't recognized, we didn't answer it.  Later we discovered that they left a message.  This was a legitimate phone call.  It was from Citi Bank's Fraud Early Warning office trying to notify us that our credit card was being used unlawfully.  They wanted to know if we were in possession of the card.  The transactions were not authorized and the account was summarily closed.  New cards are being issued.  Thank you Citi for watching out for us!

Please, Call them back, it is a REAL number for citi. They will close your account and issue new one plus you  will receive declaration of fraudulent charges and the new card. I am waiting for the card, they say it will take two weeks to get  it and one week to issue, so be advised if you have recurrent payments off of this card, contact the companies to let them know that the current account is closed, so that you would not miss payments

Call the back of your card number.  Do not respond to such questions about your account number etc.  Make them verify it for you.  These are scam artists that go around and call and try to retrieve information out of you.  If you have any problems etc, call the back of your card and dont give out any information what so ever. When you find out that scammers have called you, file a report with citigroup, police and FBI taskforce set up to catch these crooked individuals...

Yes, this is Citi Bank Fraud Department.  I was getting partial message voice mails saying to "press 1 for this and press 2 for that..." without a name or company or call back phone number.  I called citi bank and yes they had been trying to contact me about some charges that they flagged on my account.  The charges were fine.

Got a call from this number claiming there was an urgent problem with my Citi Mastercard.  Only problem is that I have a Visa card from Citi.  Didn't trust the automated voice asking me for account information so I called Citi back directly.  Their fraud department didn't show anything listed on my account and didn't know anything about the automated call.  So I don't know if it's legit and they made a mistake or what's up with this number, but I recommend calling the number on the back of your credit card instead of giving any information to this number.

I also received a call from this number and it is in fact Customer Service for CITI Bank.  I spoke to them and gave some information to them but I stopped half way throught the call because I didn't feel comfortable giving anymore information.  The lady said to give her a moment to document and enter into the database the subject and of the call.  She said to call back if it made me feel more comfortable and assured that it was CITI Bank customer service who I was speaking with.  Rather than call that same number I called the customer service number on the back of my card.  Once I called the number on th eback of the card, the lady who answered after a few questions read to me what had been documented by the first lady at the 1-866-517-5348 number.  My card was cancelled because someone this morning tried to use my account number online.  CITI Bank immediately suspected a fraudulent charge and did not issue approval.

This was a real call from Citi(Group/Bank/Credit). I had made an unusual charge and they verified it without me having to provide anything more than last 4 digits. When in doubt, call the number on the card. I've done that before and Citi confirmed that it was their fraud prevention system that had called.

I have had a few missed calls from this number in the past few days. I returned the call to the phone number and it was Citi Cards. I had purchased two airline tickets for an airline in Antigua which had set off red flags to them so they blocked my card. Thank goodness I called becuase if I had gone to use my card it wouldn't have gone through. They asked for my card number and I requested that they look it up by phone number instead and they did with no hesitation. Nice to know someone is looking out for me.
