This firm purchased a debt from target and the very first contact that we ever received was court papers for district court from them. They sent them standard us mail. Very unprofessional and also very incorrect as far as how to handle collections in proper accordance with the law. Oh, and did I mention that we are in bankruptcy and that the debt they are now trying to sue over is included in it?  I guess they chose to overlook that minor detail.  They claim to be a law firm but act like complete idiots when it comes to a true understanding of collection law.

They are sneaky about how they call.  A computerized voice speaks to you at first, push 1 if its you, push 2 if its someone else.

why are they calling me to collect on a debt in someoneeles name. The person they were trying to collect from, refused to pay and gave them my name

They are a legitimate law firm and they *will* sue you if you ignore them....it's not your typical sleazy collection agency that you can blow off.  We had a debt that was being handled by them (for Lowe's) and they were very professional and willing to work out a settlement since we called them as soon as we received a letter from them.  When you get a letter or phone call from a real law firm, not a collection agency, ignoring it is the worst thing you can do.  Trust me, I learned the hard way!
