ASHLEY 2013-11-11 16:29:03 Unknown
Its actually Telus/Koodo I called to report a payment and got cut off and they called me right back to verify. It shows up as being in the states because its a toll free number and it depends on which agent is picking up to respond to your call there all over the america's. Its easy to see everything as a scam and fraud but if you actually have an account with them they are probably call to verify you are paying your bill or something with your account.

I received a call from 1-866-558-2273 showing up on my phone as beign from the US but my account is in Canada. I didn't answer, but they said they were with Telus and left a message instructing me to call this 1800-777-1888 number or *227 from my Telus phone between the business hours and quote a ticket number they gave me. I was suspicious, so I called the usual *611 to get client care from my Telus phone. An automated message told me my account payments were past due, and quoted what I owed. I thought this was strange considering I had preautorized billing. After talking to the rep, we determined it was all legit, and an issue I had with online card fraud that required my card to be replaced and account to be put on hold for a few days messed up my preauthorized payments. In short, the call from this number was legit from Telus.

This is the toll free telus number
Annoyed by the call 2013-06-04 16:14:28 Unknown
The caller identified as a Telus representative, which turned out to be false. She spoke to me in French and requested that I speak in French as well. When I told her I did not speak French, she got audibly frustrated, questioned whether I spoke French, and kept repeating angrily "I don't speak English! You speak French!". I was a little irritated by this back-and-forth and asked her what the call was about. She hung up on me. Having had good service with Telus, I called their number to complain and inquire about the call. There was no record of such a call and so the ACTUAL Telus representative warned me that it might have been a solicitor or someone requesting for personal information.
ALL IN ALL, A SCAM. AVOID.

DONT give them your pin EVER!!!! They called me last night saying that I am a 5 star rated Telus customer and they were giving me 60% off my next bill. They had all my information; my address, my old alternate numbers and my date of birth. They asked me to confirm my PIN and cloned and hacked my account. Telus fixed it today and they are crediting me everything these guys costed me. Pick up your phone when they call and tell them you know what they're up to.
DO NOTTTTT tell anyone your pin unless it's you calling Telus, not the other way around.

WARNING!!!! The number 1-866-558-2273 is currently being GHOSTED to capture valid PIN numbers so that NEW accounts can be created on the user's valid account without their knowledge.
I called my Telus number immediately and changed my PIN number after this call and had the rep put notes pertaining to the call.
TELUS NEVER calls its clients asking for the PIN on an account in order to "update software on the user's phone". NEVER give out your PIN even if the person claims to be from your service provider. If you want to verify the person's identity, hang up and call your direct number to TELUS *611 and ask them about the situation.
Cheers!

I called this number back and blocked my number. The message said I had reached Verizon conferencing and the number I called is not in service. We used to have a Verizon Air Card and the minutes expired so I agree with the above comments.

I get this call reminder all the time to tell me my air time is running low for a certain phone number....which is not my phone. It constantly gives me updates on strangers' pay and talk accounts.

TELUS Problem Solved 2011-06-06 21:02:27 Unknown
THIS WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM
Call 1-866-558-2273, talk to an "agent" (say "agent" when they prompt you to speak), wait for an agent, tell them to turn off the automated reminder phone calls they make to you just before your pay and talk account expires. Tell them that their automatic text message reminders to top up your account wake you up at 4am in the morning and you'd like them to turn those auto-reminders off too. You must give them all your information (name, address, how much you have left on your account (as if you know this lol) pin number, your phone number, your birth date, the birth date of your next door neighbor's dog and the value of pi to the 100th digit) then they'll turn these auto reminders off for you.

Got a call from this, didn't pick up. Telus left an automated message saying my Pay&Talk time was expired... I have never used Pay&Talk.
PK 2011-06-06 21:02:27 Unknown
I got a call from this number - I have a telus pay & talk phone, and the call is generally to remind you to top up your minutes. If you don't have a Telus pay & talk phone it's likely that somebody used your phone number as an alternate contact for reminders, hence the call.

I have received many many calls from Telus with different numbers. Sometimes 4-5 times in a day. This number called me a couple of times, but never leave a message.
_MD_ 2011-06-06 21:02:27 Unknown
It looks like a Telus number but why the hell would they be calling a rogers customer other than soliciting?
It's a good habit to pick up only the numbers that you recognize.
