This is an automated call from Family Video when you have late rentals.

Family Video for late rentals.

I get calls on my cell phone from Family Video and receive a partial voice mail. I have never purchased or rented videos from this company. Why do they have my number? How do I reach them as the phone is always busy when I call back?

After I made the previous post, I found the Family Video website and called the contact number. I talked to a very nice lady and told her about the unsolicited calls from her company and she said she would put a stop to the calls. We'll see!

damn you family video stop calling me i dont want to return nhl 09 yet!!
MoMarlon 2011-06-06 21:02:27 Unknown
Mary, I get the same partial message. The number is Family Video's universal message line and doesn't receive calls. Look for a local number for them and give them a call. Could be, one of the kids signed up for video rentals. ;-)

I received a call from this number twice. The first time I ignored it, the second time they left a message. The message stated that Family Video has missed me and if I come to a store in the next 14 days I'll get a free rental and 1/2 off any other rentals during those 2 weeks. I find this ironic since I JUST went to Family Video 7 days ago.

Number calls around the same time every other day. Who is it?
La Geek 2011-06-06 21:02:27 Unknown
The number belongs to Family Video. They are not, however, calling about over due rentals. This is a telemarketing call for you to come in and rent movies. They do not leave a message because it is against the law for telemarketers to leave recorded messages. They can do telephone solicitations if you, or a member of your household, has done business with them in the past, or if your telephone number is not on the federal do-not-call (DNC) list. Even so, if you request that your number be removed from their calling list, they must honor your request. You can make your request in writing or call the corporate office. The address and phone number is as follows.
Family Video Corporate Headquarters
2500 Lehigh Ave.
Glenview, IL 60026
(847) 904-9000
If they do not honor your request, they can be reported to the Illinois Commerce Commission for DNC violations.

calls to my cell phone. How do they get that number?
Maggie 2011-06-06 21:02:27 Unknown
It was drom family video to try and get me back as a customer. They offered free rental and some future discounts.
taters 2011-06-06 21:02:27 Unknown
The phone call is a "miss u " call. If you haven't been in your local Family Video in 3 months or more this is an automated call to get you to come back. It isn't "telemarketing" in the traditional sense. They are offering their customers one free rental as well as 2 weeks in their half-off discount program. There are no strings attached and nothing you need to purchase or automatically signed up for as a result for redeeming said offer.

I answered using my name. The woman on the other end stammered a long "oooohhhhh" and then hung up. When I called back I got a fax machine. RE Family Video: I have used them on occasion - last time 3-4 months ago and certainly do not have any old rentals, etc out there.
