Pick up and tell them Do Not Call This Number Anymore and hang up. They are supposed to add your number to a DO NOT CALL list, but if they don't that is a violation and grounds for a complaint. Good luck

Obviously you have no idea what it is like to be out of work for over a year! Trying day in and day out to find work, worrying about how you'll feed your family,  and the fear of losing your home.  The banks don't care or try to work with you believe me!!!! People are losing their jobs everyday, because of our economy and downsizing. I pray this never happens to you or anyone in your family! Thanks for your compassion!!!

They called my parents' house looking for me.  I called them back and they couldn't explain what they were calling about.  I have no debt or outstanding bills.  Bizarre.

The girl I got a call from was really nice. They were looking for my exs GF. I was more than happy to give them her new address, new cell and new employment info along with my exs information. KARMA KARMA KARMA ... that what the GF gets for first of all for cheating with my husband, treating my kids like s*** on her shoe then sending wedding crap (magazines, info ....) to my house in her name (and we only have legal seperation he refuses to file for divorce and I cant afford too) when he cant and wont marry her.

Anyone can search last names in a phone book or directory, and it can be assumed if you have the last same name, and live in the same city, that you could be family. I have had had good experiences with URS and have to say that they send a letter to your house, and that if they are trying to contact your son in law it means he owes someone money and needs to call them back and pay his bills. They are not a scam, they are a collection agency. When I first got a call from them, I found WWW.Ursi.com as their website, try looking there.

Try paying your bills. Then you won't have debt collectors calling. The debt collectors aren't the problem, the deadbeats are.

AMEN! This company sent in a bogus check to my bank and I got the bounced check fee. . .even  without authorization they can do this. So watch out if you paid previous payments by electronic transfer.

You filed bankruptcy. Translation you walked away from your debts, screwed your creditors who then pass the losses they take from deadbeats like you on to the rest of us. Know this: If you have a bankruptcy or other credit problems none of my companies will hire you. Credit check is mandatory for employment with us. More and more companies everyday are doing the same thing. Hopefully the day will come when you deadbeats can't get a job or a place to live and you will move the hell out of the USA.

Your "financial difficulties" don't relieve you of the obligation to pay your bills. Why should should your financial problems become your creditors financial problems. You don't pay your bills, screw over your creditors who then pass the cost of doing business with you on to the rest of us and you want to b***h and whine about the collection agency???  People like you are why landlords like me run credit checks. Bad credit and you can go somewhere else to live. You won't get a job from me with bad credit either.

Call did not come from this number, but this is the callback number that they left.  Said they were trying to get a message to one of my neighbors whom they were "doing business with" but that they had difficulty reaching her recently at the number they had on file.  Could I get a message to her?  I said yes, and the woman left a name, this phone number with a 4 digit extension, and said she was with URS.  I became suspicious when she left such a long number with extension and google revealed this page.  My wife says they have called several times today; she just hadn't been able to reach the phone.

I got a call from a Kristie Baer at 866-582-4085 from URS wanting to talk to "his name" (who happens to be my son-in-law and who does not live at my address).  After I quized her about her intentions, she gave me her name and ph no. for the person to call her back at.  I asked my daughter about it later and they don't know of these people nor why they are contacting him.  My question now is - how did they get the phone number where I live?  I should have asked her that too!  I told her I would pass the message along.  I'll tell my daughter NOT to call them.  Thanks for the previous info listed here.

Same thing as Allen.  Caller ID says 888-763-2423.  Amber says she's calling for my neighbor.  To call back at ext 9028.  Calling this 888 number get's me to "United Recovery Systems" - I'm assuming this is a collection agency.

Yep hey send someone to your house.  If you are home they do not come to the door but sit at the end of the drive and call your home phone.  They got in my mail box and got the name of an old roommate who still gets jiuhk mail and called her.  Today i got a note from the neighbor that they called her and left me a message.  With this economy, we all need a job, but, these collecters are ruthless and will stoop to all time lows to get something for nothing

They just called my neighbor, (actually her 16-yr old son), who simply took their number down. The lady who called said her name was "Sarah Thomas" and she was a long-lost friend trying to get in touch. Thank God he knew better, didn't give her any info. (I love that kid!) Seems like there's something illegal about stalking....not to mention giving out false information/lying to obtain information. I wonder if I report them to the authorities, will anything be done?

Received a call today at 1310 EDT.  They were contacting me about my neighbor asking me to contact them for them. I checked federal law and this is legal providing they only call the neighbor once and do not give out a whole lot of info.  They only have to identify the company if specifically asked.

The Company is United Recovery Service out of Houston Tx.

This is a debt collector, based on info from web.

I'm not telling the neighbor and will report the company if they call me again.

You know they only call other people because nobody answers their calls.  I actually had a very good experience with them.  When my daughter got sick and our credit cards got maxed and sent to URS.  They worked with us and we had them paid off in 2 years rather then the 6 that it would have taken.  They dropped all our interest and fees.  so everything we paid went to principal.  I just wanted to say that not everyone has had a horrible experience with them.

I returned Shannon’s phone call and I requested to know what her call tom me was in reference to.  Shannon could not intelligently answer the question and she would stall answering in order to buy herself more time.  I stated to her that obliviously this must be a scam if she were incapable of  informing me of what her original call pertained to.  At this point I told her not to call me again and cut off her response and continued to state that she was require by law not to call me again upon my request.  This left her baffled and speechless as I hung up.  This is very poorly thought out scam.  Shannon is incapable of an intelligent response and her phone skills are of a highly uneducated person.  

Where does a person report such a nuisance?

the above called from a New Iberia, LA# but left the 866# ext 9144.  Asking to speak to the "owner", not very tactful not to mention the suspcious behavior.  Now getting with BBB checking on this "company"-- will keep you posted.

I also received a call from a local number that left a message to call back 866-582-4085. The lady said it was a personal matter and I should not listen to the message around anyone. I recently have been receiving calls from a company called QAR that leave strange messages too (for example that they need to hear from my legal representative). From what I have been reading on many sites such as this is not to talk to these people or they will never let you be. My father has also been receiving calls for me at his home in another state. I have no idea how anyone would get that number.

The interesting thing before everyone says "pay your bills and they won't call" is that my husband and I filed bankruptcy 11 years ago after getting into a financial mess and since then have not opened a single credit card. We have 2 car payments as well as a car that we paid off that are current and never late as well as a mortgage that is never late or in default. So that is my question...what could these people want to collect? I have read that they buy old debt, even though it is too old to collect on they try anyway because people will pay without questioning.

I haven't received calls from collection agencies since before I filed bankruptcy. I checked my credit report after the calls from QAR began and there is nothing on it...our bankruptcy is not even reported anymore. So obviously they are not legitimate.

Seems to me that if you ppl would just pay your bills. Then your phone wouldn't be ringing and you wouldn't have anything to gripe about.  There no telemarketers..They are bill collectors.

My brother received a call at HIS home, (apparently because of my maiden name) from this number. The caller left the name Mr. Brooks (hmm, that's original, huh?) and a 4 digit extension.  I'm pretty sure it's a SLEAZY collection agency due to our financial difficulties, however, after reading several post re: this company dare them to come to my door.  The "HARASSMENT" LAWSUIT will be filed so freakin quickly, their litttle heads will spin.  Not only will the LAWSUIT be filed, they might want to remember that a person's home is PRIVATE PROPERTY.  If they had mailed a letter I may have attempted to work with them, but since this NO CLASS incident.  They can go to hell.
