Received a call last night, no details on the company, just that this was a legal matter.

Who is this and how are they getting my information that is not listed any where?

This company buys lists of old debt that has been written off, and can not be reported on your credit report any longer. By giving them any money you are just paying them to keep in business and hassle others. Not a dime of that money will go to the company you had the debt with, they have written it off and at least 7 years have gone by so you are not required to pay it back anymore. It goes to line this companies pockets. Worse yet, from what I understand once you pay them something or promise to pay them something they then can by law re-report this old debt on your credit report as a new debt where it will show to anyone looking at it for 7 years.

If you do talk to anyone from this company just tell them not to call you anymore and if they do you will report them. By law once you tell them that they can't call you again.
P.S. Don't be fooled by anything they say. They in most cases are going to be rude when you tell them this and will try and scare you by saying the debt will be reported to the IRS or some garbage. The IRS is not nor has it ever been in the business of collecting consumer debt.

Someone called my friends number asking if they knew me and then they told my friend to have me call this nuber 866-596-9135. When you call back you getmusic and then ithangs up. Is there any place I can call to report this number. Is this a scam again and where do they get information when you have an unlisted number.

These People keep calling me, about my husband, saying that they have a report he doesn't even know about. Then they hang up, never saying who they are?? I called the number back, they answered CRA?? Really bugs!!!

They called on an unlisted phone.  How'd they get number?  Left message that "You don't know how serious this is.  You need to call right away." Thanks to your comments, I'm not calling  them back.  You guys are the greatest.  Thanks for the info!  Just wondering how they can legally stay in business.  Sounds like fraud to me.

I just got a call today Monday The lady sounded really nice and said her name was Dottie and she left a message saying "I really need to talk to you, I don't know if you know how serious this is and something about something coming across her desk that I probably don't know about, but it is very serious and for me to call her immediately and it was called CRA.  I also have a unlisted number. But thanks to being able to look up the number throught you people, I am not anwsering them. Thank You

Hi, I just had the same people call me CRA. The lady sounded really sweet on the phone (she left this message on my anwsering machine) she was saying for me to call her right away, that something very serious came across her desk that I probably don't know about. I am glad I looked up 866-596-9135 online, I would have never known what kind of place it was.

Got a call from this person saying her name was dottie, and she receive a file on her desk. wanted me to call back because it was important.

Received two calls this morning.  First caller asked for me by name and refused to identify herself when I asked who was calling.  She said she had information that she could only discuss with the person she was calling for.  She then called an alternative number and left a message that she was "Ms. Sawyer" with CRA and that she had just received information "you don't know about" and it was very important to call her back.  I called the number and it was busy.  I won't call again thanks to the information I found on this site.

New number they are calling from 832-460-6026. Same deal wanting to talk to me or my wife. They somehow have home,work and cell numbers.

These racketeers have been calling my husband and I for about past seven years claiming he has a debt from 1990.  They surface about every one-two years, we have mailed them several letters asking them to show proof of the debt and demanding that they leave us alone if they cannot provide proof.
Since I am an attorney, I have also sent them a "cease and desist" order and asked them to stop their phone calls and corresondence. They simply wait a year then begin harassing us again.  They employ highly unethical and illegal practices, such as, running both my husband's and my credit reports without any authorization.  I found out because one of their reps got so angry at me, he spilled this unintentionally, after mentioning information about my credit history.  In addition, this idiot actually provided me with my husband's social security number without even verifying who I am.  It's scary that lowlifes like this have access to people's personal information.
