Hey all,
I'm a current employee of this so-called legitimate company. Let me explain something in a clearer light (I've noticed most posts made by employees/ex-employees are not very honest, or maybe they're all naive):
Yes, there are several options to choose from when classifying a rejected call. Yes, one of those options is Never Call Again or Household/Respondent Refusal. These options are the ones that will put you on a flagged list. This does NOT guarantee that you will never receive another call. What this means is that every other number classified under every other code (such as No Answer or Answering Machine) will receive priority status. The system will call the No Answers and the other coded calls first, and over and over and over.
I myself have had people tell me over the phone "this is the 4th time you guys have called today". I have noticed the numbers are re-dialed multiple times in my own 5 hour shift.
So - what happens to the Never Call Again or Household/Respondent Refusal coded calls? Like I said, they're flagged. It only means that they will basically stop calling you UNLESS they are put up against the wall to meet quotas. In this case, supervisors or other "high performance" employees will take it upon themselves to call the flagged numbers.
I don't know what everyone else has been doing during training, but this is what I was told (repeatedly) since June 7th (date of my orientation): perform "refusal conversions" for every call. Schedule callbacks whenever possible. Ask to speak to someone else in the household. Try to avoid using the Never Call Again code because that'll minimize the chances of re-dialing a number.
I've had FOUR shifts and I am sick and tired of this job. I'm not going to get into details here but I will say: I have NEVER been treated this way in my entire life, and I don't mean by the regular humans I had to pester every day. I mean the supervisors, Monitors, HR. They're monsters.
Let me tell you: I am SO sorry for disturbing you all at home and at work, etc... We had to call Albertans. Can you believe that? They're experiencing massive floods and this "legitimate company" had us calling Albertans to ask them about the economy/politics/water licenses. GUILTY is an understatement, in regards to how I felt when I had people telling me they were using buckets to empty water out of their houses or they were looking for loved ones. Ugh.
If you all want to read some REAL reviews on this company, check these out:

http://www.ratemyemployer.ca/Employers/EL/Elemental-Data-Collection-Inc
I am hoping to quit this week but I fear they will screw me over like they've screwed over many of the posters on Rate My Employer. My own experience will be posted there shortly.
Gods help me, may I make it out of this "job" and find something soul redeeming.

I looked them up, on the WEB, and here is what I found.
Here is the Official Contact info, taken from their website as follows:
http://www.elementaldci.com/contact_us/ - - - THIS IS WHERE TO YELL at them...I suppose one could also talk to them, as well. I think they do speak english or whatever your native language is.
Now, we all have someone to scream at...so, go and scream and have a good time of it. That's my PLAN too. :o)
Everyone is trying to "MAKE MONEY". The ONLY problem is the only people that "MAKE MONEY" work in "THE GOVERNMENT MINT" where your country literally makes the money...the rest of us gotta earn it, like everyone else...unfortunately.

This number called my landline (in Canada), and said they were doing a survey on behalf of the government of Canada. I told them I had the stomach flu and it was not a good time.

Phoned to say they are doing a survey for Bridgewater Bank. Then asked me if I had a credit card with them. Dumb question if I had they would know if I had card with them. No name on display.

I get calls from this number all the time. I am on a no call list. I want them put out of business.
Mary 2012-06-22 15:44:54 Unknown
Have received only one call from this number. I make a point of never answering a long distance call unless the number is in my contact list. My theory is, if the call is important they will leave a message. Messages are never left (I have voice mail not an answering machine) so conclude they must be telemarketing calls. I rarely get repeat calls from the same number and have not had a repeat call from this number.

Sad f***k**g parasites. I think they're calling to find out if the phone is ringing. Company is most likely a front for a white collar criminal organization. Don't give them any information.

I have been called every day , AT LEAST!!! 3 times a day! My fiance finally answered the phone and they asked for me by name, and said they were calling from HRDC about Education.... Funny thing is I have never submitted my NAME, NUMBER, OR RESUME On HRDC! Next time they call I will not be being pleasant with them, I have had enough!!

I came across this post when researching who was calling me for the third time leaving no message. It was great for "ex-employee" to leave their spin on the company, as generally we never get the full scope with these callers.
I have learned over the years, that regardless how much you guard your sacred phone number - there is always someone out there that is just DYING to call you.
Having worked for two top computer companines and a one of the upper middle end cellular phone companies, I have long since established a protocol for anytime I set up my voice mail on my phone.. (first if all I KEEP a voice mail.. many choose to not do so and then get annoyed when they get calls they dont want. )
I use my voice mail message to indicate my general 'hi you missed me - leave a message etc, but I also add to that message " by the way, if you are listed as private, blocked, or 1 800 number, and you wish my response, leave a message and I will decide if I am going to get back to you. If you dont leave a message - your calls will not be answered. "
I find that this works quite well. Not only to tell them how it is, but for myself knowing I have warned them how it is, and if they dont leave a message, they really didnt want to talk to me very much.
Cheers

If they keep calling, create a gmail address and call them from there for free to annoy the crap out of them. If they have caller ID, the number that shows up cannot be called back.

I think it's time to lay off the caffeine a bit... just got a call at my work number, but didn't answer. As it turns out, that was a pretty simple solution. But thanks for letting us know that you're a racist.

Elemental Data, a market research firm. That's not necessarily bad.
What's bad is they call, and then hang up immediately when I answer. To ring a phone and then hang up when a person answers is a normal cost saving strategy of mass callers (probably they wanted a female, or there were no call-center people at their end ready when I answered). But, it should be illegal.
Let's all call them and ask for a price quote on some market research... "Study how people feel about bothersome calls."

debbie 2011-06-06 21:02:48 Unknown
calls and then I answer and hangs up
rdba28 2011-06-06 21:02:48 Unknown
OK, maybe they're legit and have real people working for them. I'll accept that. I'm not so sure about the "We can call you because we're not selling you anything" schtick.
Elemental, if you want to stand a snow-ball's chance in hell of my picking up the phone and participating in your survey, use your real company name for Call Display purposes. "Toll Free Serv" simply will not cut it.
Elemental, are you listening? I did the answer/immediate-hang-up thing on you 20 Apr 2011. I'll do it again in a heart beat ...
