I keep getting junk faxes about travel to Mayan Riviera or Cancun.

Every time I get a junk fax, I call the phone number, whether for a travel "special" or health "insurance".  For the travel, the spiel is "Let's see if that special is still available."  They put me on a short hold, then some back and, surprise, it's still available.  At any rate, I keep them on the speakerphone for 10 minutes.  They talk while I do other things.  Finally, I ask them to please stop sending junk faxes.  I provide my fax number.  They promise to do so.  (And I've also spoken with "Justin the project manager".)  They never do.  So I keep calling and wasting their time, as they waste my fax resources.

I urge everyone to call using a speakerphone and waste their time.  That will raise their transaction costs.  If enough people do this, it will make junk faxing unprofitable.  Don't simply ignore a junk fax.  Call from an airport pay phone.  That way, the junk faxer will be charged for the phone call.

I have sent many copies of these junk faxes to the FCC to no avail.

I have filed a complaint on the FCC's web site about these bastards.  The reference number is 09-T00394796.  The FCC's fax number is (866) 418-0232.  Send your junk faxes to that number, and reference my case number.  If they see many people complaining about the same company, I hope they'll be more willing to act.

I am now fighting back to get a refund back on what I thought was going to be a 5 night all inclusive (except airfare) relaxing vacation for two and sent $400,  then when I called to make a reservation, I was  told that I would have to pay and additional $400 for peak season, but were then so kind as to bargain down to only $200 , what nice people ... and oh yea there was also going to be ground fair ... can't walk from the airport now. Only $50 per person ... one way. They can not even tell me how much the return fair will cost ... how is that possible, they only know the cost of one way ... directions in ... out you are completely at there mercy ... or lack there of.
Again ... they were so nice ... told me they would make me a special exception and only charge us $50 total for shuttle to the resort What’s another $200 dollars ...there nice guys ... actually I spoke mostly to ladies, and the fiercest of all them was Shantel ... the dragon slayer ... fax  scammer ...

Okay, just finished reading that.  I don't know about you, but it sure looks like all this BS is designed to sell Sandos timeshares.  Whether the Sandos organized this or not, they're definitely involved, and they're definitely profiting.

Fax those black sheets of paper to 218-754-4508.  And maybe include a note that you're pissed how they ripped off Lyon66 of Northfield, Ohio.

I have complained to the FCC numerous times to no avail. The FCC will do nothing. Our fax number is on the "do not call" list, but this does not stop them. Their removal number will verify that the number is an active fax number and you will get additional faxes. When I call the 866-704-5938 number they want your credit card number and when I have said that I will not give it to someone I don't know they just swear and hang up. Also, when I have said that I do not use credit cards and will send them a check if they provide their mailing address, they again swear and hang up. This is a scam. I suggest that everyone who receives a junk fax from these people, send a fax with a "black" page(s) to their corporate fax number 218-754-4508. If nothing else, this will use their fax toner and take up their time.

I work in a hospital. We get these jokers faxes a couple of times a day.  I've called before to have the number to not receive the faxes any longer and it does no good.

A couple of times i've re-faxed them from various fax numbers in our department several black pieces of paper, which quickly uses up the toner on the receiving fax machine.

I've had 5 faxes going simulataneously with 10 black sheets of paper each, with up to 30 re-tries, after hours.  It feels good, but I get the feeling it's just easier to ignore them or block their fax number than to do real harm to their scheme.

We also receive multiple faxes from here ... same as the University employee stated in their post - I thought of calling to say 'stop sending' but i have a feeling that would only increase the amount I receive.  Has anyone successfully requested that they STOP sending these faxes?
Cheers!
Chris

I urge you all to contact the consumer protection division of the Attorney General's office in the state in which you live.
I asked to be taken off their list and now they fax every week and have sold the number to "Healthcare Coverage you can Afford/Healthcare America"  They might be one and the same thing.  I am looking into complaining with Federal Do Not Call list Registry and the phone company.  I havent found out what corporate entity is controlling these guys, but I am trying to find out and will post.  Am willing to spend the $40 to file a $2500 small claims action against them. Also, post what you can to the internet to end the scam.  As you have all noted they are REAL JERKS on the phone.  My only other suggestion is that we call nonstop and keep them on the lines to divert them from doing any "BUSINESS".  Power to you Joe M - another good suggestion.

These under booked vacations are good for one year and will be made available on a first come first serve basis. And gives details about a fake trip for Cancun, Mexico or the Mayan Riviera. It says to no longer receive these requested promotions in the future to call 1-866-672-0673. They don't list a company name or anything. Stay away from these people!

If anyone's fax machine supports fax number blocking, there is a way to stop this junk fax. I use HP LaserJet 3050 that can block a fax number. However, I cannot see their fax sending number rather than just 1-866-704-5938 that as I understand is their contact number. Does anybody know if this is the same as their fax number that can be blocked?

I called the number.  They answered (eventually) with "Reservation Desk".  I asked what company.  They said "Sandals".  I asked "what's the catch?"  They said "air fare is not included" and hung up on me.  Do you think it really is Sandals?

Stay away from these guys. It's a big scam. They tell you that you pay now and then reserve a room later. They hope that by the time you call to reserve and realize it was a hoax, it is too late to dispute the charge.

My office rec'd a flyer fax advertising "ALL INCLUSIVE - 6 DAYS IN MAYAN RIVIERA OR CANCUN - ONLY $198 A PERSON - TODAY ONLY SALE."  So I called out of curiosity. The first guy I asked for more details said "hold on," then he hung up. I called right back and got some smart aleck little witch (yes, I called her that) who said "maybe we're done with that deal."  To which I stated, "then stop sending faxes about the trip," and hung up on her.  Then it dawned on me - they are answering the phone by simply saying "hello."  I called one more time and got a fella who sounded harmless, so I asked him what his company name was.  He said "Sandals."  I asked for details on this trip and he said "we're sold out." As soon as he said that, I heard some commotion in the background, and he jumped right back and said "how many do you want to book?"  I laughed and disconnected the call.  Sorry this is so long, but I want people to realize THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A TOTAL SCAM!!!!

Here is my question.  I got the same fax.  The fax gives a phone number which can be reached.  we get these scams that can be traced back all the time, easily yet no does anything.  It seems to me like these guys are easy pickings for the FBI.  These people are sending out a fax saying here is my fax number call me and arrest me it is that simple.  It is scary that we live in a world where people can bilk the unaware out of money and no one in law enforcement cares.  There is a website for reporting fraud.  I used to send the FBI all of the internet scams I got but finally figured, they know this stuff, they know these people are easy pickings where all of their documented evidence that would convict them easily but they don't care.  Why.

Here is how you handle this:  Use your fax software to draft a polite letter asking them to please stop sending unsolicited faxes.  Then set your fax software to send the letter to 866-704-5938, with 99 repeat attempts, two minutes apart.

don't bother 'bothering them' in return.

File a complaint with the FCC at
http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

Attach a copy of the fax you received and provide the FCC with the website address for Sandos http://www.hotelsandosplayacar.com so they can verify that the info you give them is correct.

Websites like these can't do anything for you other than make you feel better for venting, the FCC can really help though.
