866-753-6957 calls several times a week. No one is there, the call just hangs then drops. Luckily we have caller ID so now I know not to bother answering. Unfortunately they block a line that a customer could be calling on. Who are these losers and why do they keep calling? What is the point? Must be a dialer machine gone crazy.

Same thing as everyone else-- this number calls several times a day, but no one ever says a thing.  My guess is that it's actually a phone number from the future, "manned" by some maniacal cyborg who systematically harasses those of us living in the past.  The cyborg, I further imagine, has replaced humans in the telemarketer field and, incensed at its despicable existence, it now seeks retribution against the people of the past who developed the technology that made the cyborg possible to begin with.  I mean... that's the only feasible explanation for why no one can trace the number.

IT SHOWS UP AS INTERSTATE GAS. THEIR WEBSITE OFFERS GAS FOR 97.9 PER CCF. SO FAR MY BILL HAS NOT BEEN THAT HIGH, WHEN YOU ADD THE DISTRIBUTION AND GAS RECOVERY CHARGES TOGETHER.

They call the bank I work for and hang up(I did *69).  I would say it happens between 6 and 8 times a day.  We have 4 outside lines and it happens on all of them.  It wastes a lot of time and takes us away from  our customers and ties up our phone lines.  How can we make it stop?  Sometimes there is someone calling and they say they are from the gas company and they want to talk to the person responsible for paying our gas bill. This happens a couple of times a day on average.  It  is very annoying.

I think I got back at them. I call every 5 minutes. Then I ask for the supervisor. It's always a female. I just talk dirty to her. Lets' see if this works.

I thought I was finally free of these calls after the Telezapper was marketed to eliminate computer-dialed calls.  Apparently some have gone back to using live dialing because I'm receiving relentless calls again.  I discovered a way to stop those also.  I always screen my calls, but got tired of hearing my outgoing message playing over & over. There's a feature on the answering machinge that allows me to record a separate outgoing message for a specific incoming number.  I set it as a 3 sec. blank message.  Dead silence must annoy them more than not answering, because the calls stopped 3-4 days later.  I've done this for 6 different numbers so far & with the same results.  Try it.

These freaks have been calling here twice or three times a day for more than a week.  I am sick of them.  I have quit answering the phone altogether now.

Seems like alot of trouble to go to for a prank. More likely someone trying to track when we are home. If you have caller ID don't answer lets  not give them any satisfaction. My plan is to call my phone company and try and block the number.

Claims to be a gas company.  BS to me.  It is harassment and I would like to find these folks.  Discomfort intended.

This company called my home over a week ago, they took my boyfriends address and phone number. Said they worked with our gas service provider National Grid and told him they were giving people a 7% discount on our bill because they were "working through National Grid". I wish he told me about this before he gave them our information because I think we were scammed. I haven't received anything in the mail and they call literally about 5 times a day now but just hang up. I try to call back but cannot get through! If this goes on longer I may just file a police report and even a harassment charge.

says "toll free call" 866-753-6957 on the caller ID, when we answer no-one is there, just silence. If we let the voice mail answer it, they never leave a message, but continue to call here several times a day.It's annoying and frustrating to be harassed like this, someone should stop this company from bothering ppl or tell us how to stop these annoying calls!.

As Frankie wrote on 13 Feb 2008, staying on the line at least 6 seconds then asking them to put my number on their do-not-call list, and to not call back, worked for me.

I called the number back and it was a company called National Gas.  I asked them not to call my number anymore but they said that they can only take the number I am calling from off the list.  Unfortunately they are call a DID (phone number) that forwards to my cell phone.  I have no way of calling from the number they are calling.  The "representative" kept on repeating himself and saying that he could only block the number that appeared on the caller id.  I called 5 times and got the same guy each time but he kept on repeating himself.  I told him that I was going to harass him because they are harassing me.  He said "That's ok, I like the sound of your voice." I don’t understand how they are going to get people to switch gas companies by harassing them.  I called this morning and the call just gets disconnected.  I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

Someone from this number just left a message on my voice mail.  All they said was a "mmmmmm hmmmmm" in a smartmouth tone.  Whatever that is supposed to mean??

This number called my office several times on December 14 and no one ever spoke, just eventually hung up. They have tied up my phone lines and taken employees' time from their jobs.

THIS NUMBER CALLS SERVERAL TIMES A DAY, BUT AS SOON AS I ANSWER IT THEY HANG UP. SOMETIMES THEY WILL STAY ON THE LINE FOR A FEW SECONDS BUT NO ONE EVER TALKS.

This number has been calling my house for a few days now and everytime I answer no one picks up. They have even called back as late as 9:00 PM. It is really beginning to annoy us.

They claim to be some "Interstate Gas" company or something like this.  When I asked them to take me off their call list they said "no" and hanged up on me.

I just got one of these calls too, and I jumped on searchbug.com but came up with nothing but "TollFree"   It scared me because whoever just hung up after I tried to answer.  These people are obviously into mischeif, and not telemarketing.  

I can't believe with all this modern technology, this number cannot be tracked.

I received a call from this number today and the woman asked to speak to the decision maker of bills to my local electric company (she even stated the correct name of my local company), and suspicious, I said that the man wasn't home, may I take a message? The woman rapidly said no I call later and hung up. I *69'd it and got an 866 #. I didn't call them back because I figured it was a scam, and I might get a long distance call on MY bill! Obviously, not from my local company - what are these scammers up to?? Why can't anything be done about this problem??
