No one would get suspended from their job for getting a civil summons.  You are a scumbag employee, manager, or owner of the company in question.  Did you really think people would buy a story that violates just about every collection law in America?

Prank Call
THIS IS A SCAMMER

I get many calls from this number/spammer.

It's an automated message from some place claiming to be "Progressive Management" looking for someone I never met or heard of. They claim to be "collecting a debt" and would like you to respond to their "offer" (which is an oxmoron or a contradiction at the least)... they also give you an option to "opt out"... all of that means it is a SCAM.

Even if you may owe money to someone, it is unlikely you owe it to these scammers.

Pull your credit reports, and you will probably find they pulled a copy, which would give them information on your old accounts to use in this scam.

Since they called supposedly to "serve" you a summons, they are claiming they already "sued" you.  Contact your local courthouse to check, and I bet you will find no lawsuit has been filed.  It's just a ruse to threaten you into paying them without any proof you owe them.

Welcome to the Corona Scam.

Not only are these scams coming from collection offices but watch out with companies who are
doing loan modification loans.  A company by the name of National Consumer Protection Litigation
833 S. Main Ave, Corona, Ca took $4500.00 to do a loan modification, guess what?, this so call attorney
who at one time was able to practice took the money and ran.

So its not only with collections, anyone, anybody will take your money if they can

Well I got a call from the Corona Scam using the name of Transworld Collections, said he was a process
server, well I called the toll free number the female I spoke with told me that I could obtain a free credit
report with annual credit report.  Guess what I did and the information she provided was on my credit
report.  I received an agreement from them, so after all this is done I have proof now in case I have to
sue them.
So far their information is good.

I received a call from 866-767-8814 and reported this incident to the attorney general in California.
Attorney General's office responded:  At this moment we would be unable to help you, make a report
with FDCPA who regulates collections OR perhaps you should pay your bill.
Why did I even make the call, waste of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The truth of the matter is that we do owe money.  However,I find it very confusion and a little annoying to have a company call my work number looking for my husband. Th called asked if we had a policy for serving employees at work... "to serve paperwork for summons for xxxxxx person"?    When I told the young lady who called (her name was Candice) that first of all she was giving out too much informaiton before finding out who was answering the phone and that second she was calling the wrong #, she was very snippy and pushy and said well who every you are, have him call us ASAP to have him served!  I was interested, and wanted to give my husband as much info as possible so he could call them back....so when i asked the name of the company and the amount of the debt to include it in our Chaper 7 filing, she hung up.  I'm confused, if they were really going to collect the debt, wouldnt they want to be included?

Anyway, for what it's worth...I would call them back just to find out who they are and if the call is on the level, the last thing we want is a court summons....Yikes!

They are not NCO.

They are the Corona Scam, operating under many names, using calls from fake "process servers" to threaten people into paying fake "debts".

Check your credit reports.  You will probably find that they pulled one shortly before the threatening calls, and used information on it to fake their "debt" claim.

Debt Collector
These people have harassed my employer and people I used to know like my ex brother in law and my ex boyfriend.  They are wretched.  I asked to provide current contact info and was told no.  I was eventually told by Mr. Roger Lewis that he does not need to talk to me and was hung up on!  I called the Federal Trade Commission and was directed to file a report with them, my local state's attorney which is in MD, and with my sheriff's dept.  I did all 3 and hope Roger Lewis has a good reason other than $8/hour (and 33% commission per craigslist) for attempting to have me fired from my job!  Sadly, I offered Mr.Lewis proof that this debt from 2004 has been paid in full and he refused to provide me an address to send this info to as well.  I was told that unless I provided checking account or debit card info to pay the account in full, he wishes me "good luck in court ma'am!"

This company is called NCO it is a collection agency. They called me asked me if I was home that I was being served? I told him I would be there all day. He responded by telling me that it wouldn't be today it would be in a couple days????? I asked then why did you ask me if I was home?? It was a weird call. I went down to the County Clerks Office to see if there was a pending case and there wasn't not to my surprise. They proceeded a few days later in calling my sister and harassing her telling that I was being sued and that she had better tell me to contact 866-767-8814. I'm really looking forward to that court date. This has to do with a paypal credit card purchase I made. The seller gave me the wrong size and the shirt was return the transaction was cancelled. I got a statement from Paypal for $71.00. I called paypal and explained that the shirt was returned and they told me not to worry about it. A few month later I get another statement with the same charge. And the same thing happened. This was in 2008. Now these scum bags want to sue me for $1500.00. No worries I want them to. They have to prove that I bentifited from this transaction.. I also have emails showing transaction was cancelled and email from ebay saying that I do not owe paypal.

These people called my dad, who lives in another town. Asked for my husband.  We never use my parent's number for any kind of reference!  Told him they were from Nationwide something. said they needed to get legal documents to us and gave some kind of case #.  All I can say is, if you think we owe you money, call US or do it the old fashioned way and send a letter! Definitely NOT calling them!

866-767-8814 call people that lived next door to me. told them how we where going to be put in jail. And got her all upset. And the whole time they was telling lies to her...the person they was looking for was not even us.

One of the things they ask me was I in charge of the bills and money for the person they was looking for.

When I called the 866-767-8814 back...they told me they could not tell me anything because I would not tell them my husbands SS# . And they was really calling about my son. The lady next door does not even know my grown son.

Do not trust the number 866-767-8814 ...they would not tell me name of company

Just had a phone call from a friend who lives blocks away from me and in no other way has any connection with me whatsoever. Friend told me that this company called looking for me, claiming to be a "lawyer's office" and that I am supposed to appear in court or a warrant for my arrest will be issued. This so-called company also gave out my social security number and told my friend about this so-called financial situation. I am well aware of my rights and the laws of my state. I checked the county court dockets (just to be sure) and there is no such case against me. In fact, the "case number" they provided isn't even accurate to the case #'s in either county that I have lived in. So, in all reality, these "people" have broken two laws as of now. 1. Discussing a matter concerning me to someone who was not me. 2. Using harrassment by saying that a warrant for my arrest would be issued.
And as far as I've ever known, you don't usually receive phone calls stating that you are supposed to appear in court, you just receive a certified letter stating your court date.
This has happened to me a few years back, by a different "company". Only they called my mom and got her all upset and worried. She was losing sleep thinking that I was going to be arrested. I had to reassure her that even if that so-called debt had been mine, I could not be arrested for owing money on a credit card.
There must be stricter laws made against people that think it's alright to do this to people!

Employee of the scamming company AKA (PISSED)-

You did the smart thing by ignoring the bogus 'process server' - don't be 'pissed off' - yes, they are scum bags who unfortunately, in this bad economy (or any kind of economy at that) can only do this type of employment - scamming.  Wouldn't be surprised if many/all of the workers in this office used to be the bullies in high school who never pursued a college degree and instead, figured they would continue to bully to get their 'lunch money for McDonalds'.  And 'PISSED' - If you did, in fact, have a court date, it's not from this unethical company, it's probably from one of the victims you scammed.

This company is up to no good.  It's run by another scum bag, Thai Hon.  Let's find out Thai's relatives and call and harass them the way Thai calls innocent people and their families.

Do NOT give this company a dime.  Every time they call you, tell them you are recording their calls and RECORD THEM.  File a police report with your local police department for harassment.  Also file complaints with Federal agencies.

They've been harassing me about an account that was paid off years ago.  Even if you have charge offs, they have NO AUTHORIZATION to collect on the debt.  If they did, they would do everything the legal way - I guarantee you, they will not sue you.  They will bully you into paying.  Unfortunately, many people have fallen for their scams- DON'T BE THE NEXT!

You are right , thats them trying to use scare tatics, first of all a complaint has to be served, and that is just to let you know to contact them within 30 days from date of service to avoid a magisrate summons, and even then its just a civil matter nothing criminal, people will not go to jail nor will their checks be garnished.
