call for my father... who has been dead for at least 15 years but they would not tell me who they are nor what they want

They continue to call and ask for someone who I have never heard of. Then they ask me questions and I have told them to stop calling me, but they call three or four times a day. I am sick of these folks harassing me.

I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know unless a company or individual name is displayed on CallerID. Anonymous calls are blocked completely.  

These features have been part of newer telephone systems for over a decade - if you are still using the old RBOCs like Verizon, AT&T, SBC, Quest, then I think you are screwed.

Smartphones can easily block inbound calls from numbers we don't like.
Just checked a free call-blocking app on Android (Call Control) - they've called 53 times - 2-3 times every weekday.
I am not affiliated with this app, don't get any money or anything else from them. Just sayin' - there isn't any reason to answer any phone calls you don't want.

I have NEVER given out my cell phone number to anyone.  I do give out a google voice number, which forwards to the cell phone AND to my home-office number (VoIP service).  Google Voice does a great job of blocking 'spam' phone calls.  Any call directly to my cell is a spammer, period.

Both of these things are free.

Here's the way to deal with these ( or any ) debt collectors.
The first thing you say is "what is the name and mailing address of your company?". By law if they are a legitimate collection agency they must supply this information if asked. Let them know you will then be sending them a written letter under the laws of the Fair Debt Collection federal policy to forbid the use of this number and any other number related to you they may have on file. ( look up the exact law to go by the guidelines ) they will have to cease all calls. Now, IF YOU ACTUALLY DO OWE COLLECTION MONEY, this only stops the calls and you are still responsible for any outstanding debt. I usually put into the letter that monthly statements with a payment policy is appreciated.

for the las 2 weeks, i receive 2 call every day. i took the call 2 times and is a machine telling me to keep waiting.

They are calling my cell phone.  Even with the do not call in place.  Can't stop them. They call twice everyday. Morning and evening.  I don't answer and they leave no message.

Get a call every day from this number. Never leave a message. I don't answer since it is an 866 number. Must be a robo caller as no message ever left.

Got call several times from them, stating they were Jefferson Capital LLC. Would give reason for call without being given some/any personal info. Never heard of them no bill collectors that I have mine paid off. Plus wouldn't or shouldn't they be go giving the info they were asking if they were attempting to convince me who they seems that would be the correct way it should be done..didn't and won't accept calls or waste time playing their cat & mouse type of games.

These ppl call me every morning.... And I'm asleep by I never answer

received phone call today on my cell at 1:30 and again just now at 2:55, left no message

They keep calling for some guy that didn't pay his bills no matter how many times I say im not him they keep calling don't bother calling them it wants your social security number and when you say  you want a person it says there's no 1 available
