Called the number again and asked for Qwest repair service.  The lady gave me the number for repair service instead of connecting me.  I asked if this was really Quest.  The Lady said, Yes, this is Quest, absolutely.  I asked again, are you really the Qwest phone company.  She then said, no, we are a third party marketer for Quest.  Now I'm wondering why they wanted my birthdate and what other information they might have requested had I continued.  Can you spell phishing?

I wish that I knew what to do to make this go away as it is annoying when I am in another room of the house.    I have been receiving these calls up to 3 times a day and don't answer them.  I let them go to the voice mail. They don't leave a message and make me feel with their " service " showing up on the caller ID that a bill collector is calling.   I am no longer a Qwest customer, and now would not go back if this is what they are going to do to people.   Good luck.

I have been receiving calls from this number several times daily. I googled them and found this commentary. I decided to take the call and tell this third party I was not interested. They introduce themselves as qwest and say they want to do a customer survey because they appreciate our loyalty. Okay, I don't mind doing surveys for the utility companies I use. They ask to access my info. (If they would have asked for info I would have ended the call). I said yes. They first tried selling, internet and it actually sounded like a good deal so I asked a question about it. But as she was explaining I realized my internet was faster. I said no and she persisted, having worked in telemarketing I said no twice more in my next sentence. She tried to sell tv then cellphone after. I was persistent, however my recommendation is to call your actual qwest provider (800-244-1111) and tell them not to sell your info, and to make these phone calls stop. Moral of the story answer call qwest and answer these abnoxious calls only to tell them your not interested and to stop calling. (oh ps they tried selling cell phone service for two dollars more than what I pay only 450 any time minutes, unlimited night/weekend, and free verizon to verizon, yet with my company I have two lines for two dollars less and unlimited phone, text, and internet.)

Caller ID reads: MORTGAGE REPS ::: Solicitor claims that you'll save $200-300/month by purchasing their mortgage reduction plan. Surely an unlicensed fraudulent scheme!

Called the number back. It was QWEST, but they were closed when I called. Since it is not one of the numbers listed on the phone bill, I'm guessing they are trying to sell something else.

Seems to be some confusion whether it is Quest or not. In any case I called Quest customer service and requested a free block from Quest telemarketing attempts. We'll see what happens. If I don't get any more calls I will add a comment letting you know.

Not surprised to read that this is Qwest sales call. The calls that come from this number occur for weeks at a time, many times a day. After a while they stop for a few months. Now, I finally have a telephone that lets me block unwanted numbers - all they get is a continuous ring with no pick-up. The call never comes through. Do-Not-Call lists are useless, since an exception in the law allows companies to cold-call their own customers.

Technically, if they call and the phone hangs up on you or no one answers the other line, it is an abandoned call and can be reported to the FTC even if you have done business with the company.  This was from Qwest.  I called back and spent several minutes on line waiting to talk to a representative.  It seems like it's a marketing call to look at your account to see if they can get more money out of you.  I asked to be put on a do not ever call list.

I was informed it would take 5 days to get my phone removed from the system.  After that it turns into harassment.

Robert, I don't know why they would ask for your birthday, but that is too much information.  Refuse and ask to speak with a supervisor.  I had no problem getting them to put me on their do-not-call list.  I got a confirmation number and the person's name.  If they're still giving you crap send a letter to the CEO and tell him your situation.

Call from Qwest.  Called the number back and asked that my number be taken off the Qwest call list.  The Qwest person asked for my phone number(you'd think Quest would have caller ID), my address, my name, and my birthdate.  When I objected to answering more questions, I was told my name could not be removed unless I answered those questions and a few more.  At that point I asked to speak with a supervisor.  Good decision.   Found out it takes four weeks to get your number removed unless you talk to a supervisor.  Supervisors can remove your number within 24 hours and they don't need you to answer a string of questions.  My Advice.  Start with a supervisor and don't buy any Quest stock.

Guess everyone knows by now it's Qwest as it's been quite a while since any posts were made. I finally answered after days and days of calls (curiosity, frustration, ?), waited the two seconds for the caller to respond, and found a nice, young lady who was calling to ask for two minutes to go over my bill and make sure I wasn't paying for things I didn't want, need or ask for. It was a good experience. But I STILL don't answer toll-free numbers - I just recognize this one now.

It's not actually Qwest. This is one of many vendors that make their living off of selling services for other companies. If they sell a Qwest service, they get a comission from Qwest each month.

I got a call this morning and was able to answer. It was an automated call advertising something about been able to save me up to 75% of my mortgage payment if I was late in my mortgage, then it stated to press 1 if I wanted to be helped or 2 if I wanted to be removed from their calling list. At the begining of the call I did not get a company name either because I did not get it or because it was not stated. So I pressed one to see what else I can find out, and a guy answered the phone by saying something like "HOME SAVERS" (or something like that, he spoke real fast) and asked me if I was late on my mortgage, I said no, he immediately said "THEN GO AWAY" and just put me on hold for a few minutes, he would then every now and then come back to the phone to see if I was still on the phone. I was eventually disconnected. I wanted to ask what the call was about and the name of the company but the individual who answered did not give me a chance, when he answered he immediately just asked if I was late on my mortgage. Some people have the ability to make us see whatever phone # they want on our caller IDs. I don't think that this call came from Quest, I think that this telemarketing company just chose this phone #: 866-815-5318 to be displayed for me (or some of us). Anyway, here is my input for this phone #. (today's date is June 06, 2008)

I am tired of running to the phone for these pests that keep calling my number.  I have told them to take me off their calling list.  When I got home from work today I see on my caller ID that they called here again today.  This should be against the law....I even pay extra to have annonomous calls blocked but I guess because the phone number shows up they can get through.   I am registered on the do not call list but I think that is about worthless too.  I still get calls all the time from telemarketers at home and at my office that is also on the do not call registry.

After seeing that this number had called me ten times in the two hours I was away this morning, I answered and no one said anything.  It comes up on caller ID as 800 services.  Surely there must be someway to stop these harrassing calls.

If you pick up the phone when it is "RINGING", it will more than likely be a collection agency on the other end looking for any kind of info to connect you to an account or create one.  If you see the number on your caller ID and "CALL THE NUMBER", you will actually connect to the actual party that the number was assigned to.

It's called phone spoofing.  This is mostly done by collection agencies.  They pretend to be someone else and getting enough info from you to create an account.  Next thing you will get is a paper threat to pay something in full or go to court.  Some of us have been dealing with these bottom feeders for months and years.  We have programs that track and trace these numbers and then match them to the time and dates with the phone company. None have matched the actual caller.  They also spoof themselves as your neighbors. Advice: take your bill or some proof to the phone provider and have them trace.  If you owe money or have ever in the past, you can bet places like these will be faking themselves as someone else to get the data they need. Make note that these collection agencies can get a lot of info on people by accessing credit reports. Type:"phone spoofing" in your browser or here's a site for a start:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing .  Everyone should be aware of these activities for their own protection. Also see: "predictive dialers" and "VOIP".
Note: Known collection agencies that were tracked: NCO Financial Systems, Law Offices of Joe Pezzuto - Collect America, Cavalry Portfolio, Southwest Credit, Lowery Law Group-CACV and  Portfolio Recovery Services.

I get calls from this toll free company. if you are a quest customer the do not call list wont work you have to call quest to see if they will stop calling you in directly. You are a customer and that is considered a business relation ship   giving them the right to call....

I don't trust them very much to do this so I have implemented a very geeky solution. I started running a Phone Exchange (PBX) on a PC called Asterisk I put in a rule that sends this number and one other from them to voice mail on the same PBX immediately so I never get the call and they think I am never home :)
