I got many annoying calls from this number, some say it's a collection agency, but i am convinced their a scam. Just a quick note, last week i posted my resume on the main job websites, many scammers have "employer accounts" to have access to resumes and the private info on people looking for a job, it is a great source of info for them to spam your phone  and email. If you have a profile in one of these like at careerbuilder or monster and you have your personal data like phone number and email as viewable you can be certain to start geting spammed in a matter of days, sometimes even hours. That's what has happened to me every freaking time i post my resume, especially careerbuilder. Everytime i hide or delete my account there the spamming and calls suddenly go away...curious, huh?

I am trying to get a really low settlement out of them.  I would just ignore it but I can't open another bank account right now because this isn't paid.  They didn't offer to remove all of the interest in their settlement offer to me so I will try to counter with what you suggested.  Thanks!

THIS NUMBER IS A COLLECTION AGENCY FOR BAD CHECKING ACCOUNT USUALLY WITH US BANK (AND OTHERS) THAT HAVE BEEN CLOSED WITHIN THE LAST 2-3 YEARS. THE SITE WWW.PAYMENTOFFER.COM IS VALID. I HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS COMPANY, AND ALTHOUGHT THEY ARE A PAIN THEY ARE LEGIT. IF YOU TYPE IN THE INFORMATION THAT THE SITE IS REQUESTING IT DOES TELL YOU HOW MUCH YOU OWE, AND WHAT SETTLEMENT ARANGEMENTS THEY ARE WILLING TO ACCEPT, OR WHAT YOU CAN PAY. YOU DONT HAVE TO COMMITT TO ANYTHING YOU CAN JUST CLOSE THE BROWSER WITHOUT SIGNING IN BLOOD TO ANYTHING. THIS AGENCY DOES CALL EVERYDAY AND THEIR COLLECTORS ARE RUDE. USUALLY IF YOU CAN SETTLE IN TWO PAYMENTS THEY WILL WAIVE ALL OF THE ACCRUED INTEREST. HOPE THIS HELPS.

So i called this number and the IVR talks about being able to manage an account online at www.paymentoffer.com, which by the way if you have a firewall and a decent anti-virus program it woll warn you before it dispalys the page that this is a potentially dangerous website with no current verifiable certificates (why doesn't that surprise me?) these sites usually inject malware and spyware and God knows what other crap into your system so don't open it! So finally a Johnathan answred the phone and i told him about the voicemails i was getting, he asked for my phone number and said they had the wrong number and that he would delete it from their system. I won't believe it til i stop getting these calls. I am sure they are nothing but a scam.
Red flags: the recording dorsn't even mention your name, real collection agencies know your name and will address you by it.
Watch for any recent online activity you've done, especially if it's related to job websites, these are a great source of info for scammers like these who open an "employer account" to get access to a wealth of people's personal info.
