I'm constantly getting calls from this # for months now.  I did answer once they were rude and asked to verify my name and SS# I sd no.  She hung up but after telling me I'm ignorant and it's unbeleivable.   I was furious I cd Sallie Mae and told them what happened and didn't appreciate it.  They told me if I pd on time I wouldn't get a call.  I told them I'm not working, was laid off, my husband just got laid off he is the only one collecting unemployment.  I didn't qualify for unemployment.  They continued the rude attitude, I asked for a supervisor, I had already got forbearance 3xs they didn't care, the supposed supervisor told me "it was my responsibility and if I pd on time they wouldn't have to call me"  Again I told her look did you hear my situation I need help.  She repeated again pay on time or you will continue to get calls.  So I don't answer the phone.  They have my address & don't send me a letter.  Just calls day and night even weekends.  Don't appreciate the harrassment.  Yes I'm late in making pymt but I'm making pyts.  I refuse to let them ruin my day.  In fact I've given them a name on my phone "Blessings to Me".  So now I don't mind looking at the phone still don't answer but I'm blessed daily.  Works great!

Not only do they not leave me a message, they are constantly calling and hanging up.  Isn't that considered harassment?

After 3 missed calls in the last 3 days, I answer. (I saw someone write something about how to verify who is on the line.. I can call you right now and make up some number out of thin air -which verifies nothing.) Anyway, the call I recieved a man identified himself, asked me my name and then immediately wanted me to verify my address. I said no I will not verify that information with him. He quickly replied that they will be calling me back and hung up before I could get a another word in.  I didn't call him, so why should I beleive him. Their bills come to my address and I pay on time when I get them.  Anyone else pay double payments? Every time I do, they skip the next bill and then follow it up a month later as if I was past due. That is BS. And calling without leaving a message is BS. The whole company plan is BS. I am so glad the Govt bailed them out. They have a great business model... which obviously suffers from a lack of professionalism on top of weak strategy.

I constantly get phone calls every night around 6PM. I answered once and told them to stop calling she said she would continue calling me.
I got mad.

Basically, if you're receiving calls from this number its for one of three reasons:  you just came out of a forbearance, you were recently past due, or its a mistake made by the auto dialer system.

If you just came out of forbearance or were recently past due, they basically want to update your account information and get your next payment to start a good payment history.  If you have doubts that this is Sallie Mae, ask who you're talking to for their ID code and call Sallie Mae customer service to verify that they're an employee.

If you pay your bill sporadically but still generally keep it current you'll get these calls. They'll try to sell you on two things: first they'll attempt to get you to consolidate your loans, and second they'll attempt to get you doing automatic payment withdraws. They use the excuse of keeping your records up to date.

Even when you answer it you're not going to get a person -- wait on the line for awhile and you might get an actual answer. Otherwise you can call this number and skip right through any waiting and talk to someone from this department and ask that they remove you from the automated calls.

I'm personally not too keen on being hounded by phone even when I *am* paying my bills!

I got a call several times from this #. I actually emailed them to complain about this # and to verify if it belongs to them and if so, to stop calling me several times a day.

If it's Sallie Mae then why don't the leave a message? I refuse to answer my phone if I don't recognize the # unless I get a message telling me who it is.
