A woman who identifies herself as Lisa says she is calling from the office of John Taylor about a file that has come across his desk and it's important that I call him back. She does not give her last name or mention my name, a company name, or say what this is in regards to. I've been getting this every other day or so for about 2 months. The name she asks me to call is 866-852-2187, which is not the number call came in on. The incoming call number changes.

I got the "call John Taylor at 866-852-2187" call last night and I don't owe anybody a damn thing, other than my mortgage, which I've NEVER fallen behind on -- I've got a FICO score over 800! I am in the process of refinancing my house, so wonder if they somehow got my number that way. Don't fall for this, it has to be a scam.

The same msg. was received at my place of work (an Attorneys office), I phoned back, told them to remove the number from their list, as it could be in relation to any number of clients, and they say they have done so.

Hopefully the calls stop.

The most suspicious statement that 'regent asset management solution' gave me was that they where going to charge me on my prepaid card and they would not give me a statement or receipt on the account that I'm trying to pay off. all they told me it was with my old bank. and the most frightening thing is that they are not the only ones trying to collect on the same account. who is real and who is not?

I have been receiving messages from "John Taylor" stating that his secretary has been unable to reach me. Please call back 866-822-2187, he will be in the office all day.

I called the number, it is an asset management co. I asked what they were inquiring about as they continue to call my fax number... the gentleman said he would remove my number that it was dialing a wrong number

I just got this call--thanks for the information everyone.  The caller said her name was Lisa and gave me the 1-866-852-2187 number to call John Taylor back.  I sent them to VM becuase the caller ID was a 1-877 number.   I know my husband and I don't owe any money anywhere, so I'm not going to bother calling Mr. John Taylor back.  Also, I'm in Ohio, so the scam looks to be all over the place.

I got this message 6 months ago and actually called back. They said they were looking fior Carl _____. That was it until I received the same message on Tuesday. I'm not answering them. Let them come and take me to jail, at least I'll get free meals!

It's a collections agency, It needs you to verify that they got the right person, once you do, they will never EVER leave your phone number alone.
I have NO bills, I moved and left a girlfriend of mine in NH to pay the last of our bills and she took the money and bought stupid stuff with it. Then the phone calls started, once you pick up and say YES to being the person they are looking for, they will not stop calling. Don't even say "He's not here right now." just say "I never heard of anyone by that name, sorry." or if they keep calling, tell them in your best crying voice that "I'm so sorry, that was my brother(or sister) and they just passed last month." They'll get a deceased stamp on that file right away and it'll go away AND you'll make them feel like crap. I payed all debts owed and they still call so once you verify that you KNOW the person or worse, ARE the person they are looking for, that's it, you're screwed.

Just got his number on my answering machine today and it says the exact same thing as all of you! "Lisa" said "you" (didn't mention a name, just the word you) need to call beack regarding a file that has been brought to "John Taylor." Same 866 number too. If they do happen to catch you on the phone just mention the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and they will hang up on you!

Got the "call Mr. John Taylor" message too. I called back from a different phone number so they could not capture my info (since it's a 1-800 number). I gave them my name and the guy said they had no info on file. Two days later and they keep calling. Someone told me about pay per call scams, so now I'm a little wary to even call. I like the call from payphone idea mentioned above. I will only give my name, and definitely NO other information.

The following is from FDCPA (Fair Debt Collecting Practices Act) and should be read before any communication with the debt collector. Present to the person on the phone that they could be violating Section 15 USC 1692c and 1692d of the FDCPA. Here is what c and d both state: (c) CEASING COMMUNICATION. If a consumer notifies a debt collector in writing that the consumer refuses to pay a debt or that the consumer wishes the debt collector to cease further communication with the consumer, the debt collector shall not communicate further with the consumer with respect to such debt, except—
(1) to advise the consumer that the debt collector’s further efforts are being terminated;
(2) to notify the consumer that the debt collector or creditor may invoke specified remedies which are ordinarily invoked by such debt collector or creditor; or
7
§ 805 15 USC 1692c
(3) where applicable, to notify the consumer that the debt collector or creditor intends to invoke a specified remedy.
If such notice from the consumer is made by mail, notification shall be complete upon receipt.
(d) For the purpose of this section, the term “consumer” includes the consumer’s spouse, parent (if the consumer is a minor), guardian, executor, or administrator.
§ 806. Harassment or abuse
A debt collector may not engage in any conduct the natural consequence of which is to harass, oppress, or abuse any person in connection with the collection of a debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section:
(1) The use or threat of use of violence or other criminal means to harm the physical person, reputation, or property of any person.
(2) The use of obscene or profane language or language the natural consequence of which is to abuse the hearer or reader.
(3) The publication of a list of consumers who allegedly refuse to pay debts, except to a consumer reporting agency or to persons meeting the requirements of section 603(f) or 604(3)1 of this Act.
(4) The advertisement for sale of any debt to coerce payment of the debt.
(5) Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number.
(6) Except as provided in section 804, the placement of telephone calls without meaningful disclosure of the caller’s identity.

Regent is getting more sneaky all the time.  This time call came from 866-643-7657.  The usual message from "Lisa" telling you HAVE to call John Taylor's office..file has come across his desk...blah....blah...blah.....
These are scum suckers that are looking for a quick buck and to get to consumers that aren't informed.  Do not answer these calls!!!! As mentioned before, they buy OLD accounts from various banks and attempt to collect on them.  This firm will attempt to call you from any one of many phone numbers to attempt to reach someone.....If you don't recognize a phone number, don't answer it.....

A recorded message was left on my answering machine to call John Taylor at 1-866-852-2187 to discuss a file that had come across his desk. The recording did not specify or refer to a particular name or the reason. The assertive request to call the number was given twice. I will not call back. My number is on the do not call list.

For all of you claiming that they're taking you off their call list, I have a big, big surprise for you: they won't and they never will.  Your only recourse is to file a lawsuit against them, or, ask for a new phone number from your phone service provider, which will cost you money.

They're listed as Regent Asset Management Solutions, which is in all likelihood a phony front for junk debt collectors.  They aren't really looking for any one specific person, but are trying to get you to give them personal information.

I like to toy with them myself, suggesting Lisa and John are having an affair or that John is a closet-bound Nigerian homo, etc. and get a good laugh out of it before they hang up on me.  It's been going on for a good year now.  The last time I called them back I identified myself as John's gay lover and needed to talk to him about an urgent medical problem I just had diagnosed.

I got a call from this number with the same details asking me to call.  It turns out it was left for a person that used to be at this number.  This has occurred so frequently over the last five years that we have had this number, I've decided to finally file an official complaint through the attorney general of my state.  If there are enough complaints, the AG's office will start an investigation.  I encourage anyone is is getting repeated calls to fine an immediate and detailed complaint.

I also have stated to the company that we are on a do not call list and will pursue it through those avenues.

A final thing is to call US Bank and compaint, that is if like me, you don't have any outstanding obligations with them.

Regent is still at it.  This time when they called it came from 999-999-9999.  Again, these scum sucking bottom feeders continue to harass people regardless if you tell them no or not.  Everyone who gets calls from them need to contact their local AG and file a complaint with the AG.  If enough file complaints as said before, something then may happen to stop the harassment.

I also got the call that came from 999-999-9999 they left a message saying I need to call John Taylor at 866-852-2187 because of a file delivered to his office, and saying he will be in the office until 7 pm.

If they did not use a generic recording and actually indicate who they are trying to reach and the nature of the call then maybe I might actually call them back. But I would call them collect from a pay phone ☺

I was told to call 1-866-852-2187 and ask for a John Taylor.  I call this number and got Pizza Hut Wing Street in Arlington.  Called the caller ID number 1-877-390-0552 and asked for John Tayler and was told this was a ficticious name.  They hung up on me when I asked why his name was left on my phone to call then?

I have been getting calls from this bunch, I got tired of it and called them back. They said they were looking for Evan (pronunciation sounded feminine) Guzmann. I think I remember other people saying they had got calls from Regents looking for the exact same person.

They said they would take the number off their files.

Has anyone else who called them and they said they would take their number out of their files, actually got them to stop calling??

If I get another call from this bunch I am going to the cops for harassment.

We have been getting calls from a Lisa leaving the message to call John Taylor at the 866-852-2187 phone number.  This has been going on for about a month or two.  Today I got home from work and finally decided to call them back. I told the lady that answered that I had been receiving calls regarding a file that had been referred to them and was told to call John Taylor. She said you mean you got a call today.  I said yes.  She said well I show that your number has been removed from the list today (very convenient).  I told her that if I got anymore calls from them that I would be taking action against them but it won't surprise me if my number conveniently gets back on their list.  I have no clue why they were calling. She said that were working for someone by the last name of Warren.
