On this day of 05/19/09 as i was comparing my account balance, i've realised that several transactions unknown to me were made to my account. The phone number was 1-866-878-4104, the name of the company that took my money was Yahoo marketing. They took over $200 dollars from my account today and they also tried to take out an amount of $1000 but my bank has stoped that transaction in time... I am still to dispute the amount of $236 with some change... I tried to call the number for yahoo marketing but it is just asking to enter your account number and has no other options... Can someone find this thief?

SOLUTION --

The toll free 866 number is NOT a part of the scam/fraud. It is a legitimate Yahoo extension, but calling it won't do you any good.

How this works is that someone who has gotten your card/account information has, for whatever reason, signed you up with a Yahoo account for research marketing. What you need to do is cancel your card immediately, then call Yahoo's administrative/fraud departments and give them the number of the CANCELED card. They will be able to pull up the fraudulent research marketing account using this number, and they will void it and issue a refund.

The number you should call for Yahoo is 866-924-6676. There are a bunch of options so follow these steps:

-Press 2
-Press 2
-When it asked for promo code, listen to the options. You will be instructed to enter 00000 if you don't have a promo code (you won't.)
-You will be transferred to someone in the Marketing Dept.
-Tell them your situation (that you have been billed for research marketing without authorization)
-Asked to be transferred to either the fraud department, or the administrative department.

I too received two separate charges in the amount of $480, billed to my account from Yahoo Search Marketing, with the number 866-878-4104.

Are these unauthorized transactions happening because my card number was compromised? Has anyone here who has been defrauded by these people found out whether or not they are in any way connected to Yahoo? Has canceling cards stopped the transactions?

I have not tried that number but, I have tried 866-246-6453 and all I got was a recording that I couldn't get passed to talk to someone.
My fraudulent charges were made 6 different times for a total of 4,300+ I would think the bank could find the crook(s) at the location they want to get the money.

No call but I caught two fraudulent charges $1000 and $200 on my MasterCard  listed with Yahoo Search Marketing and this phone number (866-878-4104). Actually, my bank notified me of the charges (voice mail) as I was calling them. My card was canceled and there is an investigation started. Perhaps interesting to some, $1000 was credited back to my card. However, $200 is still standing and I have to fill out the paperwork to get the money taken off. I can't believe this blog started a year ago and these people are still able to steal money and make life miserable for so many.

last night i received three texts from BOA stating my savings account has been emptied and a charge from yahoo marketing [866-878-4104] is pending for $3,000 dollars.
i tried the number, is it just me or does it give no option to speak with someone? i've never even heard of this company..frauds irk me so much. well, im currently stuck waiting for the transaction to post so that the bank can cancel my accounts and reinstate all of my money to me. this is rediculous..

Same happened to me, on TD Visa (Canada) in month of June, 2008, numerous charges. Also I got charged from Google Adwords. Cancelled the card immediately. There is no pattern to this is it? I'm trying to find out with real Yahoo if they know about this.

I just discovered two fraudulent charges against my Citi Diamond card from 866-878-4104 which says its from Yahoo Search engine.  One charge was for $900.00 and another for $1,800.00. Both charges hit on 1/25/08.  The credit card company immediately killed the card, but just before doing so they noticed that another charge for $2,500.00 was pending approval.  I also wasn't called by my company and I was just lucky that I log on often to check my accounts.
