Got this fishy message on my answering machine referring me to call regarding fraudulent activity.
Called my actual bank first and verified they do not use any 3rd party for fraud detection, no flags on my accounts and all transaction were true.
I called back and used the reference number given and they had my name, easy enough the phone is listed. I asked which bank, Amex, Chase or BoA. They said BoA. Funny thing is I don't bank at any of them. Had this guy stammering and scared about the FBI by the time the call was done.
They are fishing or phishing for your data. They use the numbers 800 889 5280 and 866 889 5280 and show up on the caller ID as 513-900-4000 as the company VANTIV.
I called to VANTIV and spoke to one of the executives and was told that there is a group out there using their company name and caller ID spoofing for the purposes of identity theft. He said do not give your information out and your financial institution has all the data at hand about your account.

Were you able to get it re-opened or re-activated? I was able to.

Call from Vantiv. Fraudulant activity on my account. If you are worried about giving them any information just call your bank. I did and there was suspicious activity on my card. Glad I did. I thought it was a spam call at first. I called the bank to verify and there was a problem.

This is a legitimate call from Vantiv, a service contracted by one of your banks, credit unions or credit card holders. Be sure to call back the 800 number they cite in the voice mail, and not the 866 version that appears in your caller ID.

I just got the same vm. It seems very suspicious! I have been getting texts from them too.

he VM stated that this call is in regard to "suspicious activity" with my financial institution. It gave no specific "institution", but did leave a reference # to refer to. I hid my number, then tried calling it back twice, both times I got the MOBILE recording, "The Subscriber you have dialed is not available or has traveled outside the coverage area".
I have checked my accounts online and see no issues. DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFO TO THE CALLING PARTY. It is likely a phishing scam!!!
