I have had several calls within two weeks from this number or others like it (approx. 20 calls). I have a toll-free number which has a distinct ring pattern. Each time this "person" machine calls me, I answer thinking it is a client with an emergency. There is NO RESPONSE, so I hang up. Today, I dialed this number and got TRG (Rogers Marketting I presume) I am ready to give up my 30+ year relationship with Rogers and predecessor Grand River Cable If my name/number is not removed within 48 hours as promised. ie as of 20:00 November 20, 2007. I have also been an internet used connected with Rogers for 15 years. Pamela could end it all for me. This is very rude and unbconscionable hit andmiss markettingor promotion or whatever. In addition, because I was expecting a null response, today I waited before responding and it was one of  my clients of eight years...very embarrassing, but TRG programmed me to ignore my own toll-free line ringing. How's that for customer service???

It's another telemarketer. Try this:

1) You answer & no one is there: hit ###### many times in rapid succession (creates an even-spaced beep) and hang up; Machine may interpret that your number is bad and take you off the list.

2) You answer & get a sales pitch: say "please hold" and set the phone down till they hang up; If you always waste their time like this, they'd be stupid not to take you off the list.

The company called TRG Client Solutions, they are telemarketers for Rogers. Right now they try to convince people to sign up for Rogers Home Phone service. They call every day around 2:00 pm when nobody is home for the last month or so, but never leave any messages. I called them back and left my number for the " Do Not Call" list two weeks ago and three!!! more times since then. Obviously they totally ignore it although their machine promises that the numbers will be opt-out within the next 48 hours. This is so annoying!!! Want to hear something else annoying - I already have Rogers Home Phone service! The lack of communication within their company and disregard to any telemarketing ethics just amaze me. I intend to give a call to Telecom customer service department in regards to this matter. Let see what happens...

I've done something like SF's suggestions.
Over the summer I've been getting calls from MBNA. They've been trying to get me to get a credit card. I would sometimes just lift the receiver and leave it on the table checking up occasionally to see if they've hung up yet, and sometimes I would put some music on for them to enjoy (the crappiest music I can find...Chinese opera, for example). It's taken them about 6 months to get the point, but they're not calling anymore (but they are still mailing me stuff every month).
Now, I am getting calls from this number trying to convince me to get Rogers Home Phone. They seem to be slightly more persistent than MBNA. They're calling about 5-6 times a day on average. Let's see how long this holds up.
For those who tried to get on the Do Not Call list, have they actually stopped calling eventually or do they still call as in AR's case? I heard that after getting on DNC lists, some people have been getting calls from other 1-8xx numbers...

They are calling me about 3 times a day. I simply hit the ignore key on my phone. But if they keep this up, I do plan on answering and telling them what I think

I just phoned Rogers and told them that if they did not stop this company from calling, I would cancel my service. I was transferred to customer relations and a rep put a do not solicit tag on my account, and told me that the phone calls would stop. She also said it had been happening at her house and she flagged her account and the calls stopped.

I'll post again if it does not stop.

I hope I do get to talk to somebody ... Here's my approach.

No matter what they have to sell, no matter who it is calling:
- I listen for all the details;
- I make sure that I ask all the intelligent questions;
- I engage in a full and positive discussion;
Then:
WHen asked to commit - I say No thank you.
This pisses them off - more than their calls piss me off.  I love it!

This worked for me:
Call the number back, and when automated person comes on press 4, to get off their call list.  You will get transfered and then it will ask you to enter your 10 digit number, and verify.
once this happens, you should have no problems.

I work for a survey research company so I can tell you this, the myths about wasting their time will never work, we are not allowed to remove you from the call list unless you actually say so, if we got no response we will generally call you back within an hour, again and again repeat... the machines that require the callers to press a number does not really work either because despite using a headset we can still press the number on the phone. Of course our company does not sell anything EVER but we do use the same technologies as the other companies... all in all it would be simpler to just pick up the phone and tell them to remove you from the list.

This number has been calling me every day during the last two weeks.  There was no response when I pick up the phone.   Blank messages were left in my voicemail when I ignored the phone.

I just called this number and realized this number belongs to a marketing company called TRG (a company hired by Rogers).  A option in the automated system was provided to allow one to enter a phone number in the "do not call" list.  I am crossing my fingers hoping that they won't call again.

2. When the automated message starts, press 4
3. You will get transfered to the "do not call list" automated message/box
4. Enter your 10 digits number when you are asked to.
5. Enjoy the freedom, you won't get called by TRG anymore !
