Said they needed to tak to me within 24 hours about a court case

10-24-09 one hang up. sometimes one call in a day. another day calls come back to back all different numbers used.

Called and no one at the other end. I called back and recording said Portfolio Recovery Services - a debt collection agency. Girl named Danielle answered.

Calls my work cell phone number numerous times per day. Sometimes leaves a message for ******* . There is no person at this cell phone by that name. I finally answered at 7:22pm when I told the caller she had the wrong number she made a grunting sound like Um(as in whatever). She was extremely rude, unprofessional and evasive to my questions. I asked what company was this and whom was I speaking too. She said if I was not the person what difference did it make and would not give me information. I told her because you guys are costing me money calling my work cell number several times per day all week. She Hung up on me. I called back via redial on my cell phone and got PORTIFILO RECOVERY (spelling). I explained what had just happened to whomever answered the phone and tried to find out Who called and refused to identify the company or themselves. I was put on hold for far too long and finally hung up as more of my minutes were just going to waste. Calls from 757-961-3545. 757-961-3544. 866-940-7640 and who knows how many other number. Refuses to identify. Only found out because the recording stated the companies name on the machine.

They call sometimes 4x a day, everyday, Sundays included, up until 8:30pm, I don't have VM so I just let it ring. I am not answering their calls since I don't answer calls from an Unknown Name. I know they are very annoying and wish they would stop calling. I would love to answer the phone and go off on them but that would feed into there ignorance which I don't want to do....Is there anyway to stop these ppl. I have been on the Do Not Call list since it started and recently updated my status with the registry.

Okay tis number calls me non-stop asking for "Fallin Lang" or something and I think the want me to pay my debt or something but I'm 11 years old so... i bearely even know what debt is. i don't answer the calls and they always leave voicemails saying:
We are trying to reach Fallin Lang.
Press 1 if you are Fallin Lang.
Press 2 if you know Falling Lang
Press 3 if you have heard of Fallin Lang but do not know him personally.
Press 4 if you are not Fallin Lang and do not know him.
Then, it would pause for a little bit and i tried to press four but it didnt anything and it would say:
We have not received a direct response. Again, we are trying to reach Fallin Lang. And then it would start ALL over again and the voicemail would be like 15 mins long. I DONT KNOW WHO FALLIN LANG IS!!!!???? It's sooooo annoying.

I have been receiving hang up calls from Portfolio Recovery Assoc. for the last 2 weeks. They are asking for me by previous for a some account that I was suppose to have opened with Sear back in 1994. I explained that I have no such debt and never did. That I do not owe $300 and some change. They have my DOB but are 1 digit off on my SS#. I explained that I the statute of limitations in Oregon is 10 years. They say that does not make the debt goaway. I said damn sure does especially when I never owed it in the 1st place. I will confirm no information with them as once you do the limitations start all over if you actually do indeed owe the $$$. I check my credit regulaly and I have never had a debt with Sears. They do not seem to care about the law. They just keep calling you back from different numbers. They can piss off!!!

This company calls at least once a week. They are trying to collect a debt from 12 years ago that my son-in-law made and later filed for bamkruptcy. In no case does he owe these creeps. I finally got on the phone and the idiot could barely speak real english, I thought if I could speak rap or hiphip, the fool would understand but I won't lower myself to that degree of inhumanity. When I asked him why he called he asked for my soc. sec. number. I told him to put it where the sun don't shine. He then said they had the wrong number.

Kurt Vonnegut referred to some people, who were in jobs where they were essentially "machines made out of meat."  The people who work at these types of collection firms aren't much to begin with, and in their "boiler room" settings, have supervisors riding them in an atmosphere which would make anyone balmy.  These companies have collected old debts, the vast majority well-beyond any legal collection period, and many with incorrect information anyway.  Auto-dialers make hundreds of calls, and whenever a rep connects live with somebody, they hope to intimidate into paying as much as possible, or begin a series of communication whereby they's offer supposedly bargain settlements.  To coin an expression, "they throw a lot of s#*t at the wall, hoping some will stick.  Just ignore them.  I don't owe anybody.  As best as I can determine, after a divorce many years ago, with an attorney cleaning up all financial items, something isolated MAY have "slipped through a crack;" don't believe so, but it was either that, or more likely, these guys have no only old, but erroneous info.  Whatever, I couldn't care less, and just ignore them, and you should, too.

They keep calling my cell,never leaving a message. Don't they get the hint when no one answers

Most likely these are robo phone calls, since there is generally no response when you pick up. I suggest that you don't respond to the calls and don't ever
call them back. That lets them know that they have a valid number and the calls will continue; and, there has been attempts at getting personal information. There are a couple of numbers that seem to be involved.  Whether they are a collection agency or a scam outfit, I don't know and don't care. I don't answer calls from people that I do not know.  If they are legitimate, they can leave a message and I will get back to them. If not, they will never hear from me. Same with text messages and emails. If I don't know who is sending them, I delete them without reading them. More than ever, security is the name of the game.

They call my house but never say what the debt is for, Is there a why to find out what they are calling for and the debt? I have never gottin anything in the mail from these people, How is that? Has anyone ever been sued from these people? Is there an address I can write them to find out what is debt is they are calling for?

JUST GOT THIS CALL AGAIN.  I STILL DON'T OWE ANYBODY ANY MONEY.

GUESS THEY FOUND OUT THAT I FILED A COMPLAINT SO THEY UPPED THE CALLS.  GLAD SOMEONE HAS ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY THEM FOR THEIR TIME.

I've been getting calls from them for a 12 year old debt for 7,000. For help with tagging their calls I listing for you a bunch of numbers they have used to try and contact me. Beware as *67 does not work on them, they pay a fee for that service not to work on them when people try using it to call them.

Also, they will change their phone number every so often because they know people are blocking the numbers. Seems when you report them you are only reporting a single number not the others so this means they can call you back using another number.

They called and asked for my wife. I asked him right away if he was the bastard my wife ran off with. Didnt take long for him to hang up

I keep getting calls from this company "ha" so I bought a fax machine and connected it to my phone and now they can talk to my fax! They can't leave any messages either. The one thing more annoying that a bill collector is the noise of a fax!Take that you rat basturds!

A consumer who receives a telemarketing call despite being on the "do not call" registry will be able to file a complaint with the FTC, either online or by calling a toll-free number. Violators could be fined up to $11,000 per incident.  They have got to be stopped!! If we all take the time to report them to the FTC, maybe something will be done to fine this aggrevating, rude, and unprofessional staffed company.

They never quit...call around 8:27 am and sometimes again 7:30ish in the pm.  I pick up the call and say hello...when they begin to speak, I blow my whistle as hard as I can.  They just call on another number...I don't answer 800 calls without ID, but I guess I need to change my phone number and make it "unlisted."  I am on the "Do Not Call Registry" so they are breaking the law...guess they don't abide by this. I found company name with Yahoo reverse phone number lookup.

I received a call from this company asking for Roy. I asked who was calling and was given I think Michele Anderson. I asked what company she was calling for and she replied, Portfolio Associates. I then asked her to take my phone number off her list as there was no Roy here. She quickly became hostile and rudely said "And it took you that long to tell me that!" I told her I had all rights to ask who had dialed my phone. She demanded my name and I told her that was none of her business; she called me. I asked to speak with her supersvior and someone called JoLisa came on the phone and I told her she needed to talk to her employees about appropriate telephone etique.
