Not true I am in Law Enforcement and these are scams if you accept the calls. Many of these con artists will try to convince the victims into thinking their loved one is incarcerated either out of the country or in a jail out of state.  The reason the name is sometimes uninteligible is because they convince the person that it is their son, daughter, grandaughter, etc... and they won't let them talk to them.  They present themselves as an Officer, Corporal, Deputy, Etc.. and these worried relatives will sometimes wire money western union to these crooks.  Don't take the call, and don't be duped. I have taken too many reports from victims who have wired $2500.00 and more to people in Spain, Canada, etc... Western Union to never see it again. If your local County jail is calling the recording sounds much different than these calls...

Found a message from this number on my voice mail. Did a reverse number search, and discovered it was from a "correctional facility " ! We only received a part of the message from an automated caller.

ITS A SCAM. a lot of people scam with phone calls saying its from a correctional facility & you have to set up an account & send them money. Dont be stupid... dont give them money.

i get a call frm this number i dont have anyone in jail i would really not like to get a call back frm this number in the furture

I got a call this early this morning around 1:30 a.m. but did not answer it. Checked voice mail message and it was requesting to press 1 to accept charges. Called the number this am and you're exactly right it is to the Correctional Billing Office.

i got i call yesterday from this number at 11pm the recorded name that i heard was my boyfriend's.after i heard his name they said press 1 to accept this call, when i pressed 1 it hung up right away. i didn't have change to talk to him and i don't remember from what correction he called me from and i'm really frustrated because i don't know where he is at.

This obviously a scam. Do not give them any money

This number called my cell phone.   When I called it back, I was prompted to enter my phone number.  I could not get to a live person to find out what the call was about.

Same thing, said it was from an inmate and then I hung up.  No one I know is in any kind of prison.

I received several calls which I missed from (866) 941-6003 so, I called back and got a recording for "Correctional Billing Services" and in that I have had no dealings that would involve any collections, I became suspicious of a phishing expedition and proceeded to check for scams and found this site.

I recieved a call from this number and thought it was my friend playing tricks on me! guess not... I do live in florida though!

I just received a call from (866) 941-6003. I thought it was a credit card so I let is go to voice mail. The message only said if you wish to accept press one. After seeing the above I realize it was probable my brother calling because he was put in jail today. He was detained in the Lakeway area near Austin. So this number is used for all over the states I see.

i got the call at 1:28. i didnt know who it was n i didnt hear amything but some leady talking n as soon as i looked at the number again it hanged up. so i call back it it was asking me all kind's of question's about money.

i just got three calls from this number......did any one who actually got the call have someone in jail? i didnt trust it so i didnt answer it im from fresno....jst another scam i think! hope no one went to jail today and is casllin me for help!

This is a company that provides inmates the opportunity to get in touch with somebody while they are incarcertated.  I know that most of you are saying that everybody is a low life that is in jail.. but keep in mind that could be you.  You might have 1 drink and get behind the wheel and end up in jail.  The person calling obviously has your number memorized and perhaps you might help somebody.  How would you feel if everybody you tried just hung up on you???  Not all people who end up in jail are low life.  If they are incarcerated for any length of time they have something set up.  These calls are from somebody who just arrived and they need to reach somebody.  Someday when it happens to you ..remember what you wrote here...

Got a call from this number.  Showed "800 Service", Augusta, GA in caller id.  I did not answer.

This number has called me several times. Each time a guy makes a little recording telling me to answer. One time the recording said, "Just because Zack (my boyfriend) is there your not going to answer?" I have no clue who would be calling from jail, or anyone who thinks I would not answer my phone because of my boyfriend. I just got another call from it about 5 minutes ago but couldnt hear the message so I decided to look it up because I have no idea what jail it is or who could be calling me that knows my name and my boyfriends name.

Just got this phone call from the county jail in my town; I hung up as soon as they said it was a free call but I'd be prompted to set up an account at the end of the call? The inmate's name was supposedly Mike and sounded like our neighbor Mike across the street, so I hung up and husband called our neighbor, but he's home. After reading the comments I'm racking my brain for anyone else I know named Mike, but can't think of anyone who would have my home phone number. Very strange...

People, this is not a scam to try and get your credit card number.  These are inmates trying to contact an outside loved one and/or friend.  If you don't recognize the person's recorded name and/or voice then hang up!  Otherwise, it is probably someone close to you who needs your help.  If it's someone you don't want to help then hang up as well.  It is very interesting to see people's reactions to automated, prerecorded phone messages.  Sometimes you just have to listen and I think the world has forgotten that we were given to ears and only one mouth for one reason.  Anyhow, bottom-line is just listen and if it is not of your interest or personal pertinence then hang up but don't go running around like a chicken without your head yelling at the top of your lungs saying this is a scam.  People's sons, daughters, relatives and friends may not be able to contact their loved ones during such a difficult time because of senseless comments that lack a solid foundation.  I thank you all for your time and for those who these calls have a particular interest, Good Luck with your case and I hope it is all cleared up in the end whether your loved one is guilty or innocent.
