The hospital told me when I called them that it was turned over to a debt collection agency and gave me their number. The hospital wouldn't take any money because after so long if you are unable to pay or will not pay, someone else acquire the debt which in my case were The Law Offices Of Mitchell D. Bluhm.
I called after seeing the debt on my credit report; which is hurting me financially. I called and decided I myself wanted to pay the debt off after being told that they were handling it. They were very nice and courteous and are working with me to pay it off in full. They told me that they would send me a letter that it was paid off in full to send to the credit bureau. They even took a payment by mistake that overthrew my account. They apologized and put the money back and even said they would pay the thirty dollars that the bank deducted from my account for an overdraft fee.
I don't know what moron ever started the idea that words in all caps meant someone was yelling but get a grip.
They need to die or be in jail? How about the hundreds of people that say "I'm looking for a job so I can't pay this bill" - well I need to die or go to jail but at least I have a f****ng job.
4842 what are you doing in here?
East Coast Rose
yeah to send a bill or invoice for your review to the address they have on file
I got a call from "Judy" who said she was from Mitchell Bloom, an attorney's office collecting a debt for a hospital. They offered a discount of 50% if I paid the bill before the end of the month. Should I have given her any information?
Nuttin But Net
I didn't think medical bills were reported to the credit bureaus. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know. They also use local area codes to try to get you to answer.
Why do you keep trying to tell people to try to settle with the hospital? The accounts that this agency works has already been sold.. You are diverting your perception to influence other people's reality. The hospital will send these same individuals back to the Capio (The owner of the debt). Stop wasting people's time and keep your want-to-be-educated-guesses to yourself.
already young playa and pimp, keep changing the world one call at a time.... Only pay Aaron Walker or Marisa Jones
jack a**- that's making it better. What if the dead beat really is dead. you don't know the person, unless its you!!! Pay your bills!
Before you critique others, it seems that you need to do some proof reading yourself before posting
Attorneys don't make typos?
I received my call from (408) 353-0459 (Los Gatos, CA). Trying to collect write-off portion of an ambulance bill from years back. Asked if I'd take care of if now-I said no. Asked if I could do so soon, I said unlikely as I've been sick and out of work for the past 10 years. She hung up (much to my surprise). I added the number to my address book so I could identify it if they call back.
be careful paying an original creditor if they have sold a debt. if they don't pass the money on to the current owner, you are out of luck.
Are you absolutely sure about this? Even despite the debt being sold I can pay the original creditor and accomplish a resolution favorable to me? I've been informed otherwise that if the debt is sold a negotiated settlement can't be reached with the original creditor. I very much would like that knowledge if you're able to respond.
Alert: these jerks also call from the number (510)-7229761.
They also call from a 5128655420, claiming they are Mitchell Bloom Law Firm.

wrong # and want Quit calling
I have been harrassed by this losers for about two years. They are trying to collect on a debt to an ambulance company that I have never used. How they got my name, date of birth and SSN is beyond me. They reported it to the credit bureau. Guess what, finally pissed me off. Got my attorney, going to seek civil litigation and get the FTC involved. They crossed the line. By the time my attorney drags them into court, they will be out of pocket for more than the original bill. Going after the ambulance service too.
Unfortunatly you are wrong, debt can and will be collected on even after 7 years. The 7 years you are thinking about is how long it remains on your credit report. You should be informed before you try to inform others....just saying...
There are some states that it is illegal to talk to a third party with out permission including a spouse
Ok first off they are legit look them up I just got called and I talked to jimmy hackney and really helped me I owed a bill and I wasnt for Sure that I owed it he referred me back to my insurance company and I did ow it it was my deductible that I had not reached and so I paid it and guess what the sent me a reciept showed it was paid in full.......I don't get how these people are griping if u got the service u ow the bill IF PEOPLE WOULD PAY THIER DAM BILLS AMERICA WOULD BE IN A BETTER STATE but people just want to let them go and u wonder why Obama wants to establish obama care!!!'n
OH BS Bryan.. If you docs would see your pts in a timelyh manner instead of telling us that we can only be seen for ONE thing each time and IF I have three things that need to be addressed that you have to make me THREE appts ..or as my former doc did.. tell me to "go to the ER" instead of seeing me I would not be on the hook for 20% of an $8000 ER bill because you could not write me a scrip to get a CXR and prescribe me antibiotics... and IF the ER had just done the CXR and not refused to give me a script until they did a CT scan for nothing just to make money I owuld not be a 66 yr old Senior with debt I cannot afford to pay.. do NOT blame it on the Government..the Medical profession needs to own up to its share of the blame a major share I might add. I am a retired RN... I know what I saw as recently as last lyr before I retired... you people abue Medicare and Medicaid right and left..
Doesn't Matter..what YOU fail to understand is WHEN I tell them they have a wrong number, they proceed to ignore me and repeatedly call me despite the fact I am NOT the person they are looking for.. they just wont' accept the fact that I am telling them the truth..
Further any debt over 7 yrs old, they cannot collect on.. even medical debts.. IN Florida, btw.. they cannot attach your wages, or sue you for the debts or file liens on your home or car.. WHen you die IN Florida ALL your debts die with you.. just an FYI
The number they are using in florida is 904-5074017 when you ask to speak to a supervisor they just hand you off to another agent.. there is NO supervisor..
This is August 27, 2012... they are now in texas and using the exact same bar # which is a fake..
IF they call you, ask for a copy of the bill IN writing..they will tell you they will note the account..which is wont happen. CAll the Texas Bar Asociation and ask them to send you complaint papers..
Mitchell D Bluhm is NOT a lawyer in Texas.. and the number 064435 is a fake.
Ask for the "unauthorized service" branch or something like that.. the more people that complain the more chance you can shut them down.. there will always be debt collectors but they need to be legal about it..
the other person
I'm getting calls and letters from this agency for medical bills from a hospital in a state on the other side of the country that I'VE NEVER EVEN BEEN TO. I got one of those free annual credit reports, and it turns out I've gotten mixed up with a person in this other state who has my same first and last name and my same birthday (so yes they do use your birthday to help identify you!), but a different middle name, social security number, address. I've cleared it up with the credit agency, but I'm still getting debt collection calls.
So, please explain how I am "somewhat responsible" for someone I've never met in a state I've never been who just happens to have my same name and birthday? It should be pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that we're not the same person, but these vultures are just so eager to get their money that they'll go after anyone on the off chance they can trick someone into giving them money. I bet that the majority of people they harass don't owe anything. I'm sure making all these phone calls doesn't cost them much.
I googled a # I had a missed call from, and I read all the remarks, and bad mouthing of this company. But I went forth and returned the call... Apparently I had 1 last bill from a lab testing, that was necessary when I went in the hosp for a kidney stone. I was happy to be informed that this wasnt yet reflecting against my credit. I got the opportunity to pay off the bill. I was handled with respect, dilligence, and integrity. the bill was ligit, and they were professional, 100%. I disregard what I have read here, after experiencing a pleasantly informative conversation. This is a ligit firm, with real unpaid bills!
