Appears as a missed call on my phone at work.

It's some kind of debt collector. Someone whose name you can't quite make out will call
saying they're an unspecified "process server". They'll mention an unspecified "complaint"
for which you must contact an unspecified "legal department" - immediately - or a uniformed
officer will arrive with a summons.

It's designed to scare old ladies. They've got nothing - just a phone number and an underpaid
shakedown artist.

Some kind of debt collector says ...

"YES, MY NAME IS DAVID J(unintelligible).  I'M CALLING FROM THE PROCESS SERVERS DIVISION.  THIS CALL IS IN REGARDS TO A COMPLAINT THAT'S BEEN FORWARDED TO MY OFFICE ... THE CASE AGAINST (first/last name).  FOR MORE INFORMATION YOU CAN CONTACT THE ISSUING AGENCY WHO FILED THE COMPLAINT AGAINST YOU.  THEIR TELEPHONE NUMBER IS 866-969-7222.  YOU CAN ALSO REFER TO YOUR DOCKET NUMBER WHEN CALLING ... (numeric string).  IF WE DO NOT HEAR BACK FROM YOU, M__ (last name), WITHIN THREE HOURS, WE WILL DISPATCH A UNIFORMED OFFICER OUT TO YOUR LOCATION FOR SERVICE OF THE SUMMONS."

Isn't this considered a threat?  I think these people have called me before when I lived at a different address.  This message is saved on my answering machine.

They way you are handling business is not professonal; therefore if you are trying to collect a debt try a better approach. we as cusotmers of the third party you are collecting the debt for understand that we owe money. things happen in peoples life where they can't pay; therefore keep sending the bill to the address or wait 7 years for the debt to go away. There are laws against how you are threating people. You need to mail a certified document to the peoples address and then take the case to court. the judge will then set up a small payment plan until the debt is paid. As long as you contiue to threaten people you will never collect the money. Try asking people to work out a small payment plan. We all have rights and i will pray for you and the next time you leave your name don't give a fake one.The scare method don't work. If a person don't have money or fraud was committed on a account, than the courts will do away with the dept or make you pay a small fee. Take my advice and "GET OFF THE PHONE". Mr. Daivid Jones.

This number called me and threatened to serve papers on a debt that I have refuted when another ca tried to collect. They wouldnt send me a validation of debt and neither will these guys. When I called to get an address to send yet another validation  letter, the address comes up as Gotchanow processer servers.

I just got a message and initially was about to call back.  Does anyone know the process of serving a summons?  Do they send certified mail first, then a summons?  Everyone goes through rough times, but I will send them something... it won't be much, but whatever I can give.  I just hate talking to them on the phone because they are just sooo damn rude!

Don't send them anything. This is just an underhanded and illegal trick that the collection agency is pulling to scare you into paying.

They tell me that they're calling from my city's "process server division". I called my local and state authorities to confirm this and there is NO SUCH THING. As it turns out, my locality hires out process servers on a contract basis.

If they really were a process server or a LEO (an official representative of the courts), they would have access to my DMV records (my home address), my tax records (my place of work), etc. Bottom line is that they would just come get me because they can. These guys are just a bunch of bums trying to fake you out.

The company is called Prime West Management. They deny that they make outgoing calls, they claim to be connected with "process servers".
