We actually got a call from these people at our restaurant this morning stating they were with National Grid and if we didn't go buy something called a Money Pack Scratch Off card (Used to refill a prepaid visa/mastercard), our electricity was going to be shut off.  Knowing we didn't owe money as I just made a payment and the fact that our service provider is NYSEG, I called them back and ripped them a new one.  The nerve of some people is astonishing to me.

When I get these calls, at home & at work -- I pick up and take whatever I have handy and make a huge racket on the receiver -- I hit the phone on the desk; or with a can - I'd love to have one of those horns they use (like at sporting events) or even a whistle. I've tried calling it back, but if you're outgoing caller ID is blocked, you get a recording indicating use another phone that has caller ID -- yeah, right !!  Doubt it.

These people have been calling up to six times a day. There is always someone with a very heavy accent that tells me they are from who's who. I have repeatedly told them not to call me again.

This number has been harassing the phone lines of many professionals at the company where I work...there has to be a legal process available to stop these people...they're very abusive.

Don't bother filing a complaint with the government. I've filed dozens and I always get a reply that says they can't do  anything. They send these letters on nice engraved (expensive) letterheads with the agency's name in beautiful color.

That's what you get when you file a complaint. Our tax dollars down the drain.

Just a got a call from an Indian accented young lady named Rose.  The company is "Who's who."  It is a scam company, you pay to put your name and personal info in a "database."  I looked this up online, and no one has ever seen this database, and most people think this information is sold to third party companies and could possibly be used for identity theft.

When they call:
1. Check the name of the person and company
2. Ask them to stop calling you
3. Note the day and time and report the incident to the FCC

It is illegal for telemarketers to call you to sell you something if you are on the do not call registry.  Report them to the FCC every single time they do this and possibly, eventually, one day, they will close up their scam business, and stop calling us.

I have been getting these calls from US Pharmacy everyday 2-4 times a day. I  block the number, they call with a new number. It is to the point where I have been extremely rude to them. A female called once and I got sexually suggestive with her trying to piss her off, that didn't even work she seemed to enjoy it. This is my business phone and I refuse to change the number. They will never, ever go away. I have never ordered medication on line. They wish to sell viagra, which I have never used.

They are calling from India trying to sell drugs.  First they ask you what kind of drugs you take, then assure you they can get them to you cheaper if you will just provide your credit card information.

I used to put them on hold just to cost them $.  Now I just tell them I don't take anything.  So far, so good.

An Indian lady called to tell me all of my work information, number, position, email and to say I'd be featured in some magazine by Editorial of Who's Who. She said her editor would be contacting me the next day. When asked not to be featured she simply repeated to me that I could be featured. I repeated my disinterest and her tone got darker and she bid me a good day and hung up.

I said I was not comfortable dealing with a company in India...NO NO he said, we are in New Jersey, I tthen asked him for the name of the Governor of NJ and the names of the 2 NFL teams that play in NJ... he kept chattering then I asked him to hold a second...I wenmt to the kitchen, made a sandwich and when I came back on the line...alas he was gone...its fun making them waste 20 minutes

They've called five times in the past two days:

"Based on your recent submission, you are qualified to be in our next Executive and (something else) Leadership directory!"

(note:  in the background, I can hear at least six other voices, mostly female, in various stages of the same script, so close to him that I can only gather they are all in a 6x3 bathroom sitting lap-on-lap.  Based on the accents alone, I'm guessing Balgalore.)

My response:  I work for a (international consulting firm) and I cannot consent to my entry in any directory without  corporate office approval.

Him:  But this is a directory!  It is the Executive and (something else) Leadership directory!

Me:  This can only be handled by my corporate office.  If you send the information to me via email, which you should have if you have my phone number, then I will forward it to them.

Him:  But this is a directory!  It is the Executive and (something else) Leadership directory!

Me:  Please send me an email with the information.

Him:  You are not listening to me!  Listen to me!  Listen now!

Called here today - Sunday - at 1130 AM.  Didn't answer.  Then got an "Out of Area" call from number 1-000-000-0000  at 1 PM.  Naturally I didn't answer that one either.                866-978-6670       also called yesterday and 3 times in early January.  Fortunately I had googled the number after the first call in January and just ignore them, and all the other unknown numbers.  They can call all they want - eventually they will get the point

Same here LOL I have threatened to hunt them down if they didn't quit, there are days they call as many as 5 times. I work nights and sleep days so you know I am not exactly nice and polite when the phone rings the 2nd time so imagine what is coming out of my mouth by the 5th call. Best thing to do is block - until they come thru on a diferent number which they will.............

My third paragraph above should read:

Firstly, these are telemarketers and the likelihood of someone answering a call when their phone identifies the caller as "unknown," is very low, which is importatnt to telemarketers because they need to try to get to as many people as they can.

I have been getting a call from this number as well.  Reading the comments on here, it could be one of two things.  It is either a foreign company that sells pharmaceuticals because I have also gotten the calls from someone claiming to be from "US Pharmacy" (even though I traced the call back to India).

The other possibility is that this number belongs to a mass server that allows telemarketers to use the same server to call people, meaning many different companies can be using the same number.  There are two main reasons why this is done:

Firstly, these are telemarketers and the likelihood of someone answering a call when their phone identifies the caller as "unknown," which is importatnt to telemarketers because they need to try to get to as many people as they can.

Secondly, these are mainly foreign companies who do not want to be identified (mostly because they are companies breaking the law, like foreign pharmacies selling and sending prescription drugs into the US), so therefore they share the same number with multiple other foreign businesses as their "telemarketing line."  This way, if someone attempts to trace the call back to its source, there would be no way of knowning which company in particular was responsible for the call.  In fact, the only way of finding out would be to file for an injuction with the Indian judgiciary to force the company owning this server to release private information about the companies using its server in an attempt to find out exactly who the offender is and that would only work if the company kept such records.

Ultimately, the solution would be to block the number from being able to contact you, which is a feature most newer phones now have.
