Just got a call from this number at a place of business that I use as a mailing address only. The woman was extremely difficult to understand; I am assuming an India or Pakistan call center. I still am not sure but I think she said she was calling from Tate & Associates regarding a bill. When I asked State & Associates she said yes and repeated the name, I then said Tate & Associates and she again said Yes and repeated (even she didn't know? or was just yessing me?). She then asked that I verify my address. I asked her what she had. After a pause she asked again "I need to confirm your address" I stated again, what do you HAVE for my address. She then said "No I need you to verify your address for security reasons". I stated "Exactly! For MY security I am not giving you my address, do you not understand what verify and confirm means?" She hung up. Now I see that others had the same issues and were given different agency names. I have made calls for the owner of this business to his wholesalers when needing a hand so I can only assume a customer list was sold at some point. It was sheer coincidence that I was here and answered the phone so I was on high guard with this caller to begin with. I am with the others that feel this may be an Identity theft thing.

They tried to get my personal information. I have heard about this scam from my friends and through co-workers. If you felt like you have been scammed, you are not alone. I feel dumb myself,  I mean.. cmon... that indian accent is as believable as Donald Trump's hair. It is ridiculous and makes me furious of the fact that I cannot take any action. I just wish they attempted this fraud to Chris Hanson.

TAKING ANOTHER (best) ROUTE, going public through one of the largest korean broadcasting Co. in hopes to have "866-998-8526 " stop harrassing people. I hate to sound like a brat, but my father is a very powerfu figure in MBC.I am not sure if it is a scam but what I do know is that what they are doing  is unethical, annoying, and stressing. TIME CONSUMING, ANNOYING, STRESSING, and VERY BAD FOR MY HEALTH!!!! Incase anyone was offended by my blog, I have nothing against towards any race. ( my fiance is Indian)

This "Company" called my home phone several times & eventually left a message stating I was past due on an account. I returned their call, spoke to an Indian? Pakistani?..regardless, they had my name, address, ssn and spent a lot of energy trying to get me to confirm the info. I think they are ID thieves.

calls repeatedly, finally left an automated voice mail message where a 2nd voice cuts in with my name like every 2nd sentence! called the number, gave my phone number, and they finally pulled up my name. they are collecting on behalf of bookspan/doubleday book club - to whom i do not owe any money! i told them as such, that the account was closed and if they wished to persist could send an itemized bill (without confirming my address) and hung up.

Got a call from this #-left message on machine stating they were from accounts receiveable regarding an outstanding debt. i do not owe any debt & therefore after reading the other info on this #, have not & will not return the call..this appears to be a scam...the person that left the message also appeared to be foreign!

I cannot understand the people calling from this number so I don't really know how they are but I have asked them to quit calling.

Called looking for our son. Foreign sounding person wanted his phone number, but since he is in the armed service, I refused saying national security was involved.

2 weeks after getting my new (probably recycled) phone #, these guys keep calling & hang up probably since it's my fax line. No way could anyone already have this # to contact me, but then also on my old line 2 which is non-published & not given out except to anyone who I tell to call me on when I'm home sick. I agree with the ID theft idea. Also all of my #'s are on the National DNC list.

The rep did sound like he was in India, but said his name is Raymond Chaps- sure!  Only when I asked, he gave the name of the company as Monarch Recovery Management & said they were in Philadelphia.  We check our credit reports regularly & there are NO outstanding debts still on the reports.  These are just more scumbag collectors that try to collect on debts WAY outside the statute of limitations!

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!  Don't give them a penny toward a debt out side your state's statute of limitations!

I get this call twice in last two days but do not have way for them to leave a message now. I am on a Do Not Call Registry.

called 5 times in 24 hours, never leaves message.

This woman called and asked to speak to someone.  It just seemed wierd.  Had a heck of a hard time
understanding her - and when I requested she put someone on the line that spoke better English she hung up.  Says a bit about the legitimacy of the firm and/or purpose of the call.

While away, several calls with mesgs. left on home phone.
Could not really understand who/what they wanted.
Did not respond or try and call them.

Then just 2 days ago phone call received on cell phone.
Could not really understand who/what they wanted.
Asked how they'd gotten the number.
No response!
Kept saying "this is for ......but couldn't understand what/who they were asking for.
I told them whoever it was they were trying to ask for, I wasn't them and to not call
again or I'd report them!
