Csrss stands for client/server run-time subsystem and is an essential subsystem, that must be running at all times.

It is a legit system file normally found in C:\Windows\System32\csrss.exe

Got an extortion call on Saturday.  An angry man, with East Indian accent, yelled, "I know what you did last night, and you broke the law.  I am going to report it to the attorney general", etc.

Just got a call from 875-643-4231 stating the are getting notifications from my computer. Some guy with a foreign ascent.  If I did not let them access my computer the my computer operating system will crash.  I told them there was no way in hell I was going to give them access to my computer.  I told him I had 15 computers at my office.  Which one I asked.  Oh just let me access the one you use the most.  What do these people think ... we are stupid.  Such a scam!!!!!!!

Just received a call from this number. They claimed to be from Microsoft. Foreign person saying my computer is infected and they will take care of it for me. Just like the above responses. But what little did he know I have been with Microsoft for over 20 years and we don`t call like that what is happening here.
If so were true the IP provider would be contacted, and they would contact you. Its all a scam

Fortunately my phones have a blocking feature. I put in the phony number and it's blocked after the first ring. Got a lot of those numbers stored in there. Hope my phone doesn't run out of room.

Just got a call from "Microsoft" with same story.  My husband told them he would take our computer to his IT guy at work to get it checked out and the person told him that there was no need to do that and hung up.  Another scammer.  At least they didn't want to know if we were signed up for Obamacare yet!

It's a complete scam - what they are trying to do is to get you to allow them to connect to your PC using Remote Assistance like you can do with Microsoft. Of course, they are not trying to do this to help, they are trying to sweep your computer for data and install remote control software that will enable them to access it at any time.

If you get such a call, either hang up or do what I do, play with them for awhile. I got this call recently wanting to connect to our servers (which are in a secured data center by the way) so gave him a bogus address and kept him on the phone for 15 minutes trying to figure out why he couldn't connect.

got the exact type call saying my IP address was hacked.  These people are foreign and have an extremely heavy accent making them very hard to understand.   They call up to 10 times a day.  They need to be stopped.

(875) 643-4231 is calling on a daily basis, at 6:25 am, 6:56 am etc. I told them last week my number is on the "Do not call list national database" time you guys do something about it. Another problem is phone calls from a #6 all the time. This people need to be stopped imitatively, if not why do we have a national do not call database.

I have received multiple calls from this number.  Once I answer, there is silence on the other end, then a beep, goodbye and a hang up.  i have blocked this number on my phone, so I hope it stops

I have been receiving the call from this number . They kept saying they were calling from Microsoft. He was trying to get me to give him my IP address. I never gave him any information, I just called my Internet Help desk to see if they would know anything about this

Got a call at 6:45 a.m. 11/18/2013 from "Austin" with "Windows" saying my computer had been hacked and my IP address was showing up all over Europe. He wanted me to log into my computer so he could show me the error log. He did not address me by my name, did not know my phone number, e-mail, etc., but was insistent that he was only trying to help me. I hung up.

Got a fax sound and then goodbye and then disconnected.

Received call, stated hello several times, no response.  Heard individual speaking in the background, foreign language with an Indian accent.  I terminated the phone call.  875 area code is from India.  

I received the same message from someone with an Indian accent.

Got nearly same call as Curt above from someone wiith an Indian accent and a lot of call center noise in the background. He claimed to be from "Microsoft Server Dept" and warned me that I had a CSRSS.exe virus on my computer running a Microsoft product.  He offered to connect to my computer to fix any problems.  He also provided me an return call number attributed to Microsoft in San Jose.  

Just received a call from this number. They claimed to be from Microsoft. Foreign person saying my computer is infected and they will take care of it for me. I requested something that could be validated. They repeated the same story. I kept pushing and was finally provided a number to call IF i need help. The number provided is 800-200-0047 which is an HP Customer Support number. After getting the 800 number I hung up.

Anyone else getting this?.

Came home from work and saw this number on my caller ID.  They did not leave a message but I heard a lot of noise.  There is no such area code.  How could that be and where can this call be coming from?

I want a valid number for those stupid

They start calling a 630am I am so mad
