They'll call again.  Block all calls from this number.  Ask you son's cell phone provider how.  Or put the number in his contacts list and assign it the ring tone "no ring".  That will send the calls to voicemail without ringing.

my area code is 205. My son received a call from these scammers today. When I realized he had no clue who it was I took the phone. The guy asked em if I remembered signing up for the Publishers clearinghouse. I told him that he called my kids phone to please remove his number from their calling list. I was then told "f**k you B***h" to which my husband then got the phone and had a few choice words for them before they hung up.

I have received literally hundreds of call from the Jamaica area code 876 in the past month.  I have blocked 87 different number so far and filled three reports with the FCC.  If I do not answer then I often received a call with "NO CALLER ID."  In the past week the call are beginning to originate from FL, CA, NY and other states.  Sometimes they ask for Donald Oliver. The calls I have answered usually are wanting to talk about my lottery winning or an investigation into my lottery winning.  Interesting, since I have never played any lotteries.  One was telling me about the $100,000 and new Mercedes I had won.

Recevied a call from (876) 592-6580 a guy claiming to be with the ups office then asked if i was home, i told him no. He said the package was from Publishers Clearing House. Then he give me a package number and a phone number (202) 280-7702 for a joe carter, told me to call him to reschedule my package presentation. Called the guy and got a voicemail. I called my husband to tell him the news and he give me a number to call For pch. Talked to them and they told me it was a scam that if we would have won they would have just knocked on our door! Gave them the numbers and told me and thanked me for reproting it. After getting off the phone with pch i did more rescarch on the numbers and found out the "ups" persons number was from Jamaica and the joe carter was from ymax corp. In Petersburg.

James, you might be surprised to learn that over 30,000 calls are placed DAILY from Jamaica to the United States for the purpose of trying to swindle/extort money. In most cases, these foul smelling creatures have only your phone number and will try to extract additional information from you using the ruse of trying to verify your correct name/address so they can deliver the prize package.

I was first contacted by these filthy, little animals, when I received a call from something calling itself "John Baker" (last week it was "James Faulkner".) In any event, this "John" was calling to tell me I had won 2.5 million dollars from "Mega Millions" in Las Vegas. It instructed me to get a Green Dot Money card from CVS, load it with $499.25 to pay for my "registration fees." A few days after this call, I was shocked to see this particular scam featured on ABC World News. During that segment, they played the audio of a conversation between an elderly woman - who had already sent them $85,000 - and one of these black stained rodents.

When these roaches call again - which they will - please record the call and share that information here in this forum. Please include your area code - JUST your area code - along with your posting name. Thanks.

Scootersaurus, sadly, you will discover that the authorities can not/ will not do anything to solve this problem and that the "Do Not Call List" is useless in trying to combat these black stained rodents from Jamaica. It is up to us to exterminate this vermin. We must continue to be aggressive, offensive and relentless in our tactics!

A man with a pronounced Jamaican accent called me (from phone # 876-395-8651, which appears to belong to "MOSSEL (JAMAICA) LIMITED") to let me know that I had won a car and cash from Publishers Clearing House.  He assured me it was no joke and gave me a phone number & extension (876-277-1930, x. 5) for "Agent Malone" & told me I needed to call him right away.

I decided to Google the phone number - it turned out that some other folks had discovered this to be a scam (http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-876-277-1930).  The Jamaican man called me back a total of FIVE times, all but the last one ignored while I Googled.  I answered his last call & told him that I had looked the numbers up & knew it was a scam - he tried to refute it, becoming aggressive when I told him I didn't want any part of the scam.  I asked him to remove my name from his list.

DO NOT return the call from someone calling from a 876 area code.
This is not a toll free "800" number, it is the international long distance code for the island nation of Jamaica. You are charged international and long distance rates for calling this number. Other international/long distance area codes are 809, 284, and 649.
http://www.att.net/smartcontrols-809AreaCode

Scammers use these number to not only try to scam you out of money, but also sting you with high phone call rates.
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0119-jam ... ng-us-consumers

Also:
It is a scam:
http://info.pch.com/consumer-information/fraud-protection

They never require any money, purchases, taxes, fees, or deposits of any kind to get your prize.

Publishers Clearing House DOES NOT call, email, FAX, mail, any advanced notice that you have won.

"If you are ever contacted by someone claiming to represent PCH, or claiming to be one of our employees,  and asked to send or wire money (for any reason whatsoever, including taxes); or send a pre-paid gift card or Green Dot Moneypak card in order to claim a sweepstakes prize ? DON?T!  It?s a SCAM. If you are sent a check, told it?s a partial prize award, and asked to cash it and send a portion back to claim the full prize award, DON?T.  The check is fake, but the SCAM is real!

Publishers Clearing House does not operate this way and would NEVER ask for money to claim a prize award.  PCH employees would never contact you personally or in advance to notify you of a prize award.  Our prize awards are presented just the way you see in our popular TV commercials, ?live and in person? by our Prize Patrol, with balloons, champagne and check in hand - - and with no advance notification!"

Same story..."Hello, this is Michael Manly, the UPS driver for Publisher's Clearing House..."  Same thing, lot's of money and a Mercedes. Just call the 876-277-1930 number and ask for the General Manager, Frank Parker, who suspiciously had the same accent, and voice. I hung up, and not a minute later, Michael calls back.  I told him that I was happy to win the money and for posterity, would record the phone call. He hung up.

Honestly, these people need to be thrown in jail.

Michael Manley just called me, too. Frank Parker is awaiting my call at 1-876-277-1930. I asked UPS driver Michael Manley, who will appear within the hour with all my money and new car, if I would be disappointed to learn that 876 was not a toll-free number. He assured me that it was, and I would find out all the good news when I called Frank Parker. I called the local police instead, and they suggested I Google search the phone number. Voila! Here you all are, with the same exciting winnings! When checking my phone, I see I received my last call from Kingston, JM - not the home of Publisher's Clearinghouse, I'm sure. Also not less than an hour away. I'll just have to go on being poor...

I received a call from UPS that stated I needed to call this number and speak with a manager because I had won 90k and a mercedes from publishers clearing house. Said i had to purchase a green dot card (prepaid visa card) with $875 on it to give to the driver who would be at my house in one hour-45 minutes.  I told him I already a green dot card and he told me it was no good....I had to have a new one for them.  He argued with me that I should be happy that I had won and I would get my money back. When I told him I did not have the money he asked how much I could come up with.....really? I pray ppl are not falling for this scam....

The man called my husbad's cell phone saying that we were selected in a random drawing for the Publisher's Clearing house and that he was the UPS driver and I needed to call this 800 number to talk to them more about it in details to okay it so he could deliver it. That is the reason that I did a search after I got off the phone with the guy to see if this was a legit or scam. I figured it was a scam and think that these people really need to stop. I had recieved an email saying that if you recieved a call asking you to call a 800 number, to not do it due to they do something when you call it.

And these idiots are calling my children!!!!!

Called me once and said they been calling me for two claiming that i won 950k dollars and a new 2012 mercedes and said i had to pay 375.00 for shipping and handling and for the blue stamp that supposedly the government said that we had to pay to claim our money and car. I said that this could be a scam and the guy kept rambling on saying that it wasn't no scam and that he was located in Las Vegas, NV and was an executive manager named Arbort Johnson. When he said that he wanted us to go to western union he wanted us to send the money to this address and person : FLOYD BOWEN 5 King St. St Mary, Jamaica W.I  had no idea what this was or if it was legit until he kept changing his words and was saying that he was 15 minutes out from my town with the car and money when me and a friend went out searching for this guy.
