Called at 7:30am and said he was from the claims department and wants to deliver an unclaimed package to our home -needed to verify address.  When I asked where he was calling from he said 32 Manhattan Dr. Huntington (no such place).  He had a definite accent and I heard a child yelling in the background.  When I pushed for more info he hung up.

Chances are the check is going bounce better then a super ball in a concrete building..
As a rule, something sent in the mail is under the Post Masters jurisdiction. You can file a report here:

This guy is a real scammer. I have him blocked on my cell phone and now he calls on my husbands cell, and asks for me.  They have sent me checks, have used everyone from Drs., Lawyers and women to call me trying to hook me in. I am taking this last check to the sheriff's office and see if they can do anything. If I cash the check, then they have my bank, and we all know that is not good. His name is James Taylor, or that is what he goes by. They keep telling me I have won Millions, and they want to deliver a new BMW and my check to my residence. Sure the do-I was not born under a rock!
