Male caller, Jamaican accent, rang twice as first time I answered it disconnected. He kept saying Hello, as if he couldn't here and then eventually asked if I'd received their letter from Publishers Clearing House.  I said considering you don't even know my name, I take it this is scam call and am reporting your phone number and hung up.  

I received a call from this number and although the accent was a bit hard to understand I was told they were verifying that I received a letter about a check I would be receiving in the mail. I ask who they were calling and they gave me my phone number and I told them they had the wrong number and he ask why would I say that. So I ask what do you want and he repeated that a district attorney from Kansas City needed to know if I got a letter about this check. I told him I am not expecting any money from Kansas City and he said something about winning something and I knew I have not entered anything so I again said you have the wrong person. Then he said something about a $300,000 check that was to be sent to me and something about IRS. Anyway I told him this is a scam and I want no part of it. He ask again why would I think that. I told him I didn't want to talk to him and hung up. I looked up the area code of 876 and it said Jamaica and I had just gotten an email about calls from the islands and that they keep you on the phone as long as they can to rack up these huge charges against you as they transfer the calls to a number that charges your number per the minute. Needless to say I sort of got a bit of a panic and called my phone provider within seconds of the call. They were very nice and checked and said nothing was showing up and they would put it in the records about my notifying them and not wanting a charge for a call I didn't make. I am to check back in a few days and make sure there is no charges. I don't generally answer the phone to an out of state number as I don't know anyone and if it is important they will leave a message. Not sure why I picked up the phone this time but I will not again.....The caller ID said Kingston,   JM--turns out to be Kingston, Jamaica and not a person.
