, there is never a reason to call back an "876" number these foul smelling chiggers provide. NEVER!  Sadly you will discover that the authorities can not/will not do anything to combat these vile creatures. It is up to us - just as "crowd sourcing" helped to locate the Boston bombers - to exterminate this vermin. When these black stained rodents call again - and they will - please:

1) Answer the phone and try to prolong the call. Ask it to repeat information: its name, its location, etc.
2) Frustrate the caller. If it appears to be in a hurry, talk even more slowly. If it talks slowly, speak rapidly. A frustrated chigger makes mistakes.
3) Determine exactly what information it has about you. Usually it is just your phone number and perhaps your first name. Unfortunately, in one variant of this scheme, this vile creature DOES have most of your personal information.
4) Try to extract as much information from it as possible. There are MANY variants of this scam currently active - if  they are using the  "Green Dot Card,"  variant you MUST switch them to something different (offer to send them a check but compromise and agree to using a Moneygram (anything that forces them to provide an address.)
5) Record the call and share that information here in this forum. When you post, please include your area code - JUST your area code - along with your posting name.

I received a call on my cell phone today from an "UNKNOWN" caller.  Upon answering, a male with a voice similar to "Rain Man" said he "Congratulations on winning some money!"  He was barely understandable.  So, I requested a company name and call back telephone number.  Here's what he provided:

1-876-406-1985
Ask For:  "David Carter"

As American Cash Awards is a known Tele-SCAMMER, I hope he's holding his breath as he waits for my call.

Some guy name Mr.Mark knew all my info and said I win 2.5 million dollars. Major scam!!!!

I received three calls in four minutes from this number.  I picked up the second time, and somebody who said his name was Mr. Mark asked what I was doing today; I hung up pretty quickly.
