DO NOT return the call from someone calling from a 876 area code.
This is not a toll free "800" number, it is the international long distance code for the island nation of Jamaica. You are charged international and long distance rates for calling this number. Other international/long distance area codes are 809, 284, and 649.

Scammers use these numbers to not only try to scam you out of money, but also sting you with high phone call rates.

I received a call from a Mr Anderson at 1-876-450-3363 stating to me that they were calling from an armored truck delivery service and was awaiting to deliver my check of 2.5 millions dollars!! He said that there was a fee involved! for insurance sake and that he could not guaranty a delivery without it!! for the mega million company out of new york.  I do not have caller id,so when i called back to talk to him, this number was disconnected and not in service! so he must have been calling from another number.............i don't plan ever to purchase a money pack period!! Just send me my winnings!!!! Lol...

I got a phone call at my place of business this morning from a Mr. James Miller with a rather thick accent informing me I won at Mega Millions Giveaway, a 3rd prize for $250,000.  He wanted me to go to Walmart and purchase a green dot scratch card.  I had no idea what that was at the time.  However, after doing some research I figured out what it was.  I told him I thought it was a scam and he assured me it was not; that they would have my prize check delivered to my home this evening. We went round and round with him saying he was not selling anything and it would not cost me anything, and he was undeterred even after I told him lotteries are illegal in the state I live.  He gave me a couple set of numbers, which he said were important and then told me he would call back at a set time when I might receive the instructions for the green dot scrach card.  I figured I would use the time to do a little research, just in case I was wrong in thinking it sounded fishy.
