This number (876-464-9839) called me and it was from jamaica.  He had a strong foreign accent and I could hear voices in the background that sounded like kids playing or something.  He said he was from publishers clearing house so I hung up.  He called right back and I sent it to VM but he left no message.  I blocked the number afterwards.  Its an obvious scam that wants you to send money.

Yes just got this call did not pick up that's what voicemail is for if you do not recognize the number.
I pick up and just listen say nothing and they may just give up.
I looked the number up on spokeo and it identified the number as a telemarketer so I knew it some bogus call.
These people like on Craig list are just looking for the right target do not let it be you.
On a holiday when we are thinking of our are lost ones or just celebrating a day off. Do you really think if you won something you would get a phone call? Do not be so desperate to think you won something if you never entered anything regarding this offer and if you have a face book page well they go the load down on you and the kind a person you are by what you display on line.
I like the woman who had the shot gun all load up and got the cops to do there job by protecting her.
I feel very badly for the people who have to hear profanities from individuals who are evil.  You can report this to your cell phone or best like sites like this. Hawaii Locals are not that prone to this since we get it all the time and we have caught on to the pranks or seeking moneys from you before the big pay off come on folks. You reap what you sow.... may God have mercy on there souls. Be happy for what you have even if it just what it is it is what you make your life so if its too good to be true than it is and the price can be giving up your identity do not pick up the phone  from no known number, private caller, or any number you are not familiar with let it go to voice mail they are just going down the line and if you pick up and they do not like what you say make sure you got a loud whistle or horn to blast there ears to where ever they came from that ringing will send that ear drum straight to ENT doc.  They will think again to call your number!  This is really an old remedy when we got prank calls in the 70'z our last name was White so you get the idea.  Take care out there and hope like me I checked out this site so I knew Hawaii was a target so I will inform my community watch that this is going around. I got the call at 8:22 this morning saying he's from Publishers Clearing House & I won 980,000.00 & a Mercedes. Said get a pen & paper to write important information down. I said PCH doesn't call winners. He said yes, I need to call back & ask for him, CJ Sayers & do I have his number & how long would it take me to call back & I say a few minutes. He says great "hun". Call me back "hun".  I go & get on line & Google the number & see all of this as I already knew it was a scam. He calls back & says what happened "hun" & I say, I was on line looking up your number & as I thought, it says you are a scammer. He says what are you doing bi*** & I say did you call me a bi***.... he says yes what are you doing. I say I'm recording you scam man & he immediately hung up. Over an hour later & no peep from the scared nut. These people are really getting brave!! Crazy sick people out there!!!

I Just got a call from "David Fayre" from "Jamaica, Queens, New York". Yeah, cause that's real. I entertained him for a minute and he told me to call back when I said I wasn't interested he did the same thing to me: "f*** you, b****. Suck my d***."

I responded. "You have a lovely day, David. You're such a sweet man."
Most hilarious scam call ever.
I'm more upset they offered y'all more fake money! They only offered me $980,000 and a white Benz.

Received the Publishers Clearing House call this morning, knew this was a scam and put him off. He asked me to call him back later for details. My daughter has the phone number next to mine and she got the call as soon as I hung up, same name and story. These  people need to be found and taken care of, lol.

Since these pathetic pieces of trash are in Jamaica there is little any United States law enforcement agency can do about it.  There is a "Project Jolt" going on between a federal agency and the Jamaican government.  I don't have the address handy but you could do a search & find information there.  You won't get the money back but you might save someone else from the same situation.

my mother in law is dealing with this creep currently ... he is now taking aim on the 409 area code, it is sad and pathetic that this worthless trash has to stoop to this level he needs to get a job like the rest of us and stop mooching off the working people .... He called her claiming to be David Sayer, from Publishers Clearing House he also pretended to be Pierre Beck, Peter James at different times... (all the names he is using are actual names of employees found on the PCH website) ... unfortunately she fell victim to this scums smoothe talking for quite a sum of money... all put on a total of 13 pay pal cards...  Obviously there a several different agencies that are not doing there jobs.. if they were than why is this scum not behind bars....

DO NOT return the call from someone calling from a 876 area code.
This is not a toll free "800" number, it is the international long distance code for the island nation of Jamaica. You are charged international and long distance rates for calling this number. Other international/long distance area codes are 809, 284, and 649.
http://www.att.net/smartcontrols-809AreaCode

Scammers use these numbers to not only try to scam you out of money, but also sting you with high phone call rates.

http://www.dhs.gov/news/2013/03/13/written-te ... 2%80%9C876-scam

Do report the calls, Jamaican and US officials are still actively tracking down and arresting the offenders:

Also:
It is a scam:
http://info.pch.com/consumer-information/fraud-protection

They never require any money, purchases, taxes, fees, or deposits of any kind to get your prize.

Publishers Clearing House DOES NOT call, email, FAX, mail, any advanced notice that you have won.

"If you are ever contacted by someone claiming to represent PCH, or claiming to be one of our employees,  and asked to send or wire money (for any reason whatsoever, including taxes); or send a pre-paid gift card or Green Dot Moneypak card in order to claim a sweepstakes prize ? DON?T!  It?s a SCAM. If you are sent a check, told it?s a partial prize award, and asked to cash it and send a portion back to claim the full prize award, DON?T.  The check is fake, but the SCAM is real!

Publishers Clearing House does not operate this way and would NEVER ask for money to claim a prize award.  PCH employees would never contact you personally or in advance to notify you of a prize award.  Our prize awards are presented just the way you see in our popular TV commercials, ?live and in person? by our Prize Patrol, with balloons, champagne and check in hand - - and with no advance notification!"

It depends.
Did you wire transfer, Western Union, or pre-paid money card like GreenDot or MoneyPak?
If so, there is a very small chance to get your money back, but you need to act fast and contact the fraud department of the company you used to move the money.
If you gave the crook your credit or debit card, bank, or sent them a check, then contact your card company or bank and have them block the charged or check.

Remember, if you have to pay upfront to receive your "winnings", IT IS A SCAM!

never cal an 876 number you do not recognize.  976 numbers can be used like 900 numbers in the usa, and you could be charged a lot of money

This guy just called me from this number to say I was the 3rd place winner of nine hundred and eighty thousand dollars & a "pearl white mercedes benz"! He got an attitude with me about the questions I was asking. He said his name was "David Seer" atty at law for the company Publishers Clearinghouse. Then he started saying he had a bad connection with the phone and wanted me to call him on his landline. When I refused to do it he was angry with me and hung up on me.

I recieved a call just a short time ago telling me I won a great deal of money from publishers clearing house. They told me to get a pen and paper to write down some information. When I told him I did not have access to a pen and paper at the moment he called me a b**ch and told me to suck a pertruding part of his body. I called the number back from a different number and spoke with the same person who just moments ago had a weird accent and who now had a perfectly normal sounding voice and invited him to suck the same pertruding part of my body and called him a b**ch! Waste of human flesh! Scum f***ing scam artist.

Brett, there is never a reason to call back an "876" number these foul smelling chiggers provide. NEVER!  Sadly you will discover that the authorities can not/will not do anything to combat these vile creatures. It is up to us - just as "crowd sourcing" helped to locate the Boston bombers - to exterminate this vermin. When these black stained rodents call again - and they will - please:

1) ANSWER THE PHONE. Try to prolong the call. Ask it to repeat information: its name, its location, etc.
2) Frustrate the caller. If it appears to be in a hurry, talk even more slowly. If it talks slowly, speak rapidly. A frustrated chigger makes mistakes.
3) Determine exactly what information it has about you. Usually it is just your phone number and perhaps your first name. Unfortunately, in one variant of this scheme, this vile creature DOES have most of your personal information.
4) Try to extract as much information from it as possible. There are MANY variants of this scam currently active (e.g. "Green Dot Card," Moneygram) and, most importantly
5) Record the call and share that information here in this forum. When you post, please include your area code - JUST your area code - along with your posting name.

Thanks
Brett

Same thing just happened to my wife. David Sayer. Won a Mercedes and $980,000. She eventually called him out and hung up. He called back and tried to reassure her it was real but she still wanted nothing to do with it. He then said "I'm going to kill you" three times and hung up. My wife then went to her cousin who is a Sergeant with the sheriffs department. He called and no answer. Shortly David called back to hear the answer "Caddo Parish Sheriffs Office" , he then quickly hung up.

no doubt a scam, attempt to defraud and deceive.

remember: "Every days is for the Thief" and "One day is for the victim".....be careful when accepting calls from unknown numbers and too good to be true offers....

My husband received the exact same phone call today and was sure it wasn't a scam. I listened in on the call and they repeatedly asked how much cash my husband had on him. I finally got on the phone and explained I knew it was a scam and told him if he shows up I have loaded guns and am not afraid to use them on intruders. He then told me "ma'am we have bigger guns and we will blow your head off." Then hung up. I have called the police and they will be patrolling my house for the next couple nights.

It's a scam alright, the little jerk hung up when I wanted to have a news crew present when I received my new Mercedes. hahahaha. At any rate 876-464-9839 is blocked forever. Obviously someone is using the ill gotten gains. Now to trace back and cause them some pain. Btw I hear a lot from places like PayPal about "Homeland Security" needing verification. Where are they now and why are they not on this?
