DO NOT return the call from someone calling from a 876 area code.
This is not a toll free "800" number, it is the international long distance code for the island nation of Jamaica. You are charged international and long distance rates for calling this number. Other international/long distance area codes are 809, 284, and 649.

Scammers use these number to not only try to scam you out of money, but also sting you with high phone call rates.

Also:
It is a scam:

They never require any money, purchases, taxes, fees, or deposits of any kind to get your prize.

Publishers Clearing House DOES NOT call, email, FAX, mail, any advanced notice that you have won.

"If you are ever contacted by someone claiming to represent PCH, or claiming to be one of our employees,  and asked to send or wire money (for any reason whatsoever, including taxes); or send a pre-paid gift card or Green Dot Moneypak card in order to claim a sweepstakes prize ? DON?T!  It?s a SCAM. If you are sent a check, told it?s a partial prize award, and asked to cash it and send a portion back to claim the full prize award, DON?T.  The check is fake, but the SCAM is real!

Publishers Clearing House does not operate this way and would NEVER ask for money to claim a prize award.  PCH employees would never contact you personally or in advance to notify you of a prize award.  Our prize awards are presented just the way you see in our popular TV commercials, ?live and in person? by our Prize Patrol, with balloons, champagne and check in hand - - and with no advance notification!"

I got a call from International Pay Out Services claiming that i won 6.5 million dollars and a brand new 2012 pearl Mercedes Benz. His name was Mr. Travis Green and telling me that i won 2nd place in their company's raffle out of 500 people. I supposedly got chosen from using Walmart and for paying on time on taxes and credit card bills. According to this dumb a**! The phone conversation is being recorded by IRS, FBI and their company trying to make it seem legit. Don't fall for this crap. Then he goes on told me that 99% of the taxes is covered by their company and 1% is to be paid by me. That's their scam right there! Then he goes on and gives me a verification numbers to claim the prize; Package prize code, Checking number, and serial number for the car. He told me not to inform anybody about the codes and is confidential. lol! According to Mr. Green, I have to pay the remaining tax balance to the IRS which was $2500 to receive the prize. No way! He then continues to inform me that i have to send the money through western union, the sooner the better to claim the prize that day. The prize will be sent through UPS and a lawyer will be there to verify the codes and accompany me to the bank to deposit the check.

Please be aware of this people and don't pick up the call from this phone number 879-467-3211. All i can say is that "IF IT's TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE THEN it is SCAM!" especially if you have to PAY TO RECEIVE A PRIZE.

These guys are still at it apparently.  I have received over 7 calls today on my unlisted prepaid cell, tho I haven't bothered to answer it.  I'm glad this site is here so I know to just ignore this number from now on.

received over a dozen calls today on this and decided to check the number out here  Right now am unplugging my home phone and also turning off my cell as Mr. Michael Johnson is constantly calling to make sure I went and purchased a green dot card at Walmart for $255.00.  I went there and even if I was warned not to tell anyone about my winnings (HA) they wanted to know why I was purchasing that card and asked several questions as I still wasn't telling.  They said the reason they are asking is that they have had so many fraud cases wanting this card.  They have you tell them the number on the card and right away have the money transferred to their account and you never heard from them again.  DON'T FALL FOR THIS, I ALMOST DID  BUT MY FIRST INSTINCT WAS ITS NOT LEGAL.  SO STUCK WITH THAT.

Clearly states in the Sweepstakes Rules  they notify winners in person or by mail - THEY DO NOT CALL!   They do not even ask you for a phone number when you enter.

Did it ever occur to anyone that if we had a government interested in ending this they could. But instead we have a bunch of lazy a** union employees trying to preserve their job by telling us what to be aware of from a bunch of scam phone calls. How about turning this over to special ops and sending a couple of laser guided missiles into the scumbag's living room?
These a***oles declare war on citizens and the Congress sits around playing with their genitals all day long waiting for some one to give them a bribe.

Prize Offers: You Don?t Have to Pay to Play!
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel17.shtm

excerpt from FTC CONSUMER ALERT
A Dozen Ways to Protect Yourself
The next time you get a "personal" letter or telephone call telling you "it?s your lucky day," the Federal Trade Commission encourages you to remember that:

1.    Legitimate sweepstakes don?t require you to pay or buy something to enter or improve your chances of winning, or to pay "taxes" or "shipping and handling charges" to get your prize.

If you have to pay to receive your "prize," it?s not a prize at all.
