Prank Call
I received a phone call at 9:51 am from 876-505-5990.  The foreign caller claimed I was one of 4 who had won 1.5 million from PCH by shopping at my local grocery supermarket.  I asked him where he got my information.  He replied with the supermarket gig, never listing an actual supermarket name.  I again asked him how he got my information, and he promptly hung up.

Received a call from this number 5 minutes ago.  Said they were calling from Publishers Clearing House.  When I told them I was at work and this was not a good time they hung up on me.  Spoiled my fun of hanging up on THEM.  :-)

Prank Call
Yep got a call from this number saying I just won $1.5 million would be GREAT if I played the publishers clearing house drawing. But seeing as I didn't and they didn't want to take the taxes out of the check I told them to give it to charity...

You have nothing to be concerned about. They're Jamaican scammers. They're as dumb as fence posts & almost as dangerous as one. If you don't have business with anyone in Jamaica don't answer 876 calls.
Live Well.

We just received the same call. Was there a concern that they would actually come to your house? Should we be concerned about the safety of our house?

I was woke up at 6:45am by a call from this number. So I answered it... I said you "Hello" they said "Yes, this is Publishers Clearing House and we have a check for you!" I said "You do realize it's not even 7am?!!!" They replied," Well, your in Springfield Missouri, right?" I said "no, and even if I were, it STILL wouldn't be 7am there....  I have a cell phone a-hole I can live where ever I chose too with this number. Keep your money and take me off your calling list." They hung up.

i just received a call from "Mr. David John Cooper with PCH".  He was calling to inform me that I was the 25th monthly winner with a prize amount of $1.5 million.  He went through a long spiel about how this wasn't a scam and on and on.  Then he said that the Prize check would be delivered to my door within 1 hour and ten minutes as long as I could agree that I could cover !% of the taxes on the amount - $999 (apparently he can't do math).  He said he could cut that amount in half, as long as I could deliver the remaining half after my "valid" check was cashed tomorrow.  I said that would not be possible.  He then stated that my winnings could be donated to charity - I could turn on live national news and see the check being donated on my behalf. After I asked that the money be donated to the Ronald McDonald House, the call was immediately disconnected.  He tried really hard to have an Irish-ish accent, but the Jamaican definitely came through.

Ignore all calls.  My husband received a call from the same number at the same time.

You might want to see if you can check your wireless account online for current charges or if your calling plan covers overseas calls for a fixed price.  Otherwise you will be charged whatever the International Calling Rate to Jamaica is from your provider.

Got this call as well, 1.5M if I payed $999 via a Green Dot Money card.  I think they may have called the wrong person because I've been calling back and messing with them.  I hope I'm not racking up too much of a phone bill but, so far I think it has been worth it.  The conversations have gone from me pleading with Mr. "David John Cooper" to cover me on the $999 and I'd give him 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, and even 3/4 of the winnings in return, to the point that it is at now where he threatens to kill me and I bet him a cookie he can't.  I've really been having fun with this, I just need to stop by my wireless provider and make sure I'm not getting charged much so I can continue.

TVS, thank you for sharing your experience here. As you can tell by the number of recent posts in this forum, these filthy little animals have been particularly active over the past month.

Just when I thought I had heard the last from these foul smelling rodents, I received a call from someone calling himself  "John Felix" (these snakes apparently think every white person in the US has "John" for a first name.)
In any event, this "John" was calling to tell me I had won 3.5 million dollars! Apparently, this was a different scam operation from the one that had contacted me two weeks earlier. In that scheme, I was contacted by a "John Baker" who instructed me to get a Green Dot Money card from CVS to pay my registration fees because I had won 2.5 million from "Mega Millions."

I have observed an interesting trend over the past month. As the calls persist, the value of the prize package increases (from 2.5 million to 3.5 then to 10.5 million) while the primitive intelligence level of the callers decreases.

I can't believe this number is still running this scam! The first post I see on here is from July 14th, 2012. My spouse just received a call (on 04-17-2013) from this number with the scammer at the other end using the name David John Cooper.

Same basic scam as above, but in this instance they said in order to claim your winnings you would need to get a GreenDot MoneyPak card (available from Wal-mart) so they could "register" you with the IRS. All they would need are the numbers from the back of the MoneyPak cards.

Fraudulent idiots!

they called, claiming to be publisher's clearing house.  they had my name, my address.  they wanted to deliver a check to my door in an hour, for a million and a half dollars.    when i questioned motives, i was assured that they would bring a police escort, and would accompany me to the bank to have my check from the bank of america cashed.    the call was being "recorded by the bank of america and the better business bureau".    i have my baseball bat by the door, just in case...
