Joe, thank you for a GREAT post! If more potential victims displayed this attitude this scam would have died off ages ago.

As I am sure you know, there is never a reason to call back an "876" number these foul smelling chiggers provide. NEVER!  Sadly you will discover that the authorities can not/will not do anything to combat these vile creatures. It is up to us - just as "crowd sourcing" helped to locate the Boston bombers - to exterminate this vermin. When these black stained rodents call again - and they will - please:

1) Answer the phone and try to prolong the call. Ask it to repeat information: its name, its location, etc. The more time it spends talking to you, the less time it has to call other potential victims.

2) Frustrate the caller. If it appears to be in a hurry, talk even more slowly. If it talks slowly, speak rapidly. A frustrated chigger makes mistakes.

3) Determine exactly what information it has about you. Usually it is just your phone number and perhaps your first name. In some cases,  these vile creatures DO have most of your personal information. What should you do in that case? Poison their database. "Oh, that is my old address. Here, let me give you my current one." At which point you can provide the address of a vacant lot or maybe the address of your local police station. Use your imagination.

4) Try to extract as much information from it as possible. There are many variants of this scam currently active. If they are using the "Green Dot Card" version you MUST switch them to a different one (suggest sending them a check but compromise on using a "Moneygram.")

5) Record the call and share that information here in this forum. When you post, please include your area code - JUST your area code - along with your posting name.

Once again, "Thanks" for joining the fight!

Prank Call
This is a number associated with the Jamaican lottery scam. They are relentless and will not give up. They have my father thinking he is working with the fbi to catch these scammers. He is going broke and losing his house.

The fake name associated with this call was John Lee

I have several numbers and will be posting this message along with all of them I find on the internet blogs. I have passed lots of information onto authorities. It is hard to catch these people because the people being scammed do no cooperate.

Join with me in gathering information to link the others involved and  help authorities catch these b*****ds. While most are in Jamaica there are some in the United states as well.

These people need to get a real job and stop bothering the elderly and anyone else. Someone should be able to stop these ignorant people from being able to call all the time all hours of the day....

I received a call from 876-508-6233 this morning, could barely understand what he was saying. He told me his name was Steve and said he was calling to let me know I won.  I told him my number is on the do not call registry and I didn't enter to win anything.  He ask if my name was ( something... couldn't understand him), when I said no he said " well F... You B... " and hung up.  About two minutes later he called back and started the same way " Hello, how are you today? You won...." I told him I was not doing good because he had just called me, cussed me and hung up. He said "No, no, Is your name Christine?" I told him no again then he ask if I had a man. I told him yes I do then he started to ask me sexual questions so I told him that was it I was reporting him to the police. He again said " F... you B...." then said "I'll" ( like he was going to say more) and hung up again.

Received a call from 876-508-6233 today, could not understand the caller, all I could understand was "win" I said I didn't enter to win anything and hung up.  A few minutes later the phone rang again, I didn't look at the number when I answered, but it was the same mutled voice, and I did understand loud and clear... "F... You".

Recieved a call from these people telling me that I was going to recieve a prize in the mail today, couldn't understand what he was saying. Just that I had supposedly won a prize that I had never heard of or signed up for. I said goodbye and hung up, he called back twice more within minutes and the calls were ignored.
