Prize Offers: You Don?t Have to Pay to Play!
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel17.shtm
excerpt from FTC CONSUMER ALERT
Scam artists often use the promise of a valuable prize or award to entice consumers to send money, buy overpriced products or services, or contribute to bogus charities. People who fall for their ploys may end up paying far more than their "prizes" are worth, if they get a prize at all.
A Dozen Ways to Protect Yourself
The next time you get a "personal" letter or telephone call telling you "it?s your lucky day," the Federal Trade Commission encourages you to remember that:
1.Legitimate sweepstakes don?t require you to pay or buy something to enter or improve your chances of winning, or to pay "taxes" or "shipping and handling charges" to get your prize. If you have to pay to receive your "prize," it?s not a prize at all.

They're still calling, still promising millions and a Mercedes Benz, and are acting surprised if you question them about what you signed up for (because I don't). All he would say is "Ok, you don't want your prize".

They called me today and knew my name. That creeped me out and I hung up quickly (If I wasn't at work, I would have screamed in the phone).

I have received calls from 876-521-2348 and have blocked them on my cell phone. I see from this website that the calls are a scam. I am on the NO CALL LIST so I am going to report this phone number to the Missouri Attorney General. They will shut them down.

I got a call from the same number on my prepaid cell phone yesterday. He sounded drunk and I couldn't understand him so I had to yell at him to not ever call my number again. My cell phone has a feature to Block incoming numbers and I am going to use it. I've gotten recordings from car companies ? to buy cars....I HAVE a vehicle. So I blocked their number also. I've also listed my cell and home number on the NO CALL LIST and I will turn them in if they call twice.

I got similar call.
| called me at work 2011-09-12 18:45:16 Unknown |
The Caller ID says Kingston JM, the caller asked for me by name and said I would be receiving a Certified Check today. I told him this was my work number and that NO do not call me at work nor was I interested and I hung up. The same number proceeded to call 2 more times but I did not answer! Has to be a scam, but what concerns me is how he got my work phone number that is my Direct Line and is not published!!!!!
