Jamaica, JAMAICA
| Ruby Randall 2014-04-29 19:07:50 Unknown |
I received a call from 876-559-0517 this morning telling me that I had won 1.3 million dollars worth of merchandise. I told him I noticed he was calling from Jamaica and he said, "no, I am calling from Las Vegas," I asked how did he get my number and he hung up.

This particular crew of foul smelling, woolly headed little Jamaican beasts is one of the oldest (i.e. longest running) still in operation. What you might be surprised to learn is that over 30,000 calls are placed DAILY from Jamaica to the United States for the purpose of trying to swindle/extort money. In most cases, these foul smelling creatures have only your phone number and will try to extract additional information from you using the ruse of trying to verify your correct name/address so they can deliver the prize package.
I was first contacted by these filthy, little animals, when I received a call from something calling itself "John Baker" (today it was "Michael Miller".) In any event, this "John" was calling to tell me I had won 2.5 million dollars from "Mega Millions" in Las Vegas. It instructed me to get a Green Dot Money card from CVS, load it with $499.25 to pay for my "registration fees." A few days after this call, I was shocked to see this particular scam featured on ABC World News. During that segment, they played the audio of a conversation between an elderly woman - who had already sent them $85,000 - and one of these black stained rodents.
When these roaches call again - which they will - please try torecord the call and share that information here in this forum. We ARE making progress! Thanks.

I was contacted by a man, with a very heavy accent (very difficult to understand). He said his name was James McDonald from the prize claim center and that I won 1.8 million and a 2014 Mercedes. He wanted me to send him 299.38 to pay for registration fees.

DO NOT return the call from someone calling from a 876 area code.
This is not a toll free "800" number, it is the international long distance code for the island nation of Jamaica. You are charged international and long distance rates for calling this number. Other international/long distance area codes are 809, 284, and 649.

Scammers use these number to not only try to scam you out of money, but also sting you with high phone call rates.

Larry, thank you for sharing your experience. In researching this particular scam, I learned that there are over 30,000 calls made DAILY from Jamaica to the US for the purpose of trying to swindle/extort money. Sadly, many unsuspecting people - especially the elderly - do become victims.
Just when I thought I was FINALLY finished with these filthy, little animals, I received a call from someone claiming his name was "John Felix" (what is it with these clowns - do they think every white person in the US has "John" for a first name?) In any event, this "John" was calling to tell me I had won 3.5 million dollars! As it turns out, this SHLF (Sub Human Life Form) was NOT connected to the scam operation that had contacted me two weeks earlier. In that scheme, I was contacted by a "John Baker" who instructed me to get a Green Dot Money card from CVS to pay my registration fees because I had won 2.5 million from "Mega Millions."
All of these calls are being placed via Magic Jack and the audio quality is very poor. So poor, in fact, I had to abandon my recording of this most recent call just to understand the worthless porch monkey. In order to once again pay for "registration fees of 5%," I was instructed to obtain a Money Gram for $499.25 and that I would be sending it to "Lloyd David Cook, 5201 S. Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA." As it turns out that is the address of a sort of homeless rehab facility.
If you receive any more calls, PLEASE try to record them as this particular scam is now the target of a Federal probe using the code name, JOLT.

Guy called me just a few minutes ago from this number and said his name was "Mr. Larry Walker." He said he was from a prize center and wanted to give me a Cadillac, a Mercedes Benz, and "a whopping 20 million dollars." Heavy accent, obviously not a "Larry Walker" from an English-speaking country. He concluded his jig with "okay?" But when I answered "I'm not so sure..." he hung up.

That number called me 3 times in 10 minutes but I didn't answer. My caller ID said "cell phone JM" so that's why I googled it and found this site.

I got a call from this guy today, he wanted to know if I was over 65, lived alone and if I handled all my own finances, told me he needed to know all this so I could claim "my prize". I filed a complaint with the FBI. My son told me to google his number and found this. Shame on this guy.

Man with heavy accent (India or Pakistan) called my father-in-law (who has dementia) and told him he won Publisher's Clearinghouse and needed his address so his $ 850,000.00 prize can be delivered.
