We recently got a call from (876) 556-4418, claiming that my mother had won 1.5 million dollars. He claimed that he was from the Publishers Clearing House and was currently located in  Rad Rock Casino in Las Vegas. He claimd that she was getting this money because she was current on her electric bill and she was paying her bills on time. She came to get me after freaking out, saying these things never happen to her (which I believe, we're extremely unlucky) and I ended up taking over the call. He repeated all the same things to me, asking me how far away we were from Wal Mart, CVS, Fed Ex, and the Airport- I gave him rough estimates, nothing too precise. He then said that he was going to transfer me to his manager to change the meeting time, and because there was no sign that I was put on hold (it sounded like he just put the phone down) I hung up. As I got online to check out the number he called back and my mom started talking to him and we then found this site, to which she promptly hung up.

He DID try to call back three more times, but we didn't answer.

Be very careful with him, he's very persistent and he doesn't exactly sound like a "Mr Bob Cooper", the accent is way too thick for that.

((As a side note, he had given my mother one name, Bob Cooper, and me another name, John Washington. Hm. Not too smart, huh.))

Same thing. The number was 876 337 1631. "David William" had a strong Jamaican accent. Really appreciate everyone else writing in like this. 1.5million and a black mercedes was my offer. Yeah right. And a lifetime of free lunches as well?

Today while at work I got a call but it was blocked. Micheal Anderson (my agent) said I won 500,000 dollars and a Crv Jeep. In order to obtain my prize i would have to go to western union or get a green dot pak card and load 499.00 on it then give them the numbers on the back before they delivered the prize. I told them I felt it was a scam and another guy got on the phone and start yelling at me that this was legit and wasn't a scam i asked "what's my last name?" he said he didn't have that info because i won off my cell number from shopping at walmart and paying my utilities on time. I knew then it really was a scam because my utilities are in my husbands name and I only use cash to shop BE VERY AWARE!!!!!!!

Called and said I won a Mercedes Benz. And $800,000 dollars. I just told him no thanks and hung up. Gut instinct said it was a scam. Glad my gut was right.  Hope he won't bother me and that I don't have a crazy charge to my phone.

John Anderson called my wife saying He is from Publisher Clearing House and she won $2.5 million.  I researched he is a scam and call to Jamica is $1.99/minute if you call him back. He will talk to you for a long time and you will end up paying hundreds of dollars in phone charges.  Do not call.

I got a call last month about winning a sweepstakes from the same guy.  today I got a call from them telling me i won 29,000.00 - I told him if i won it from wal-mart they would not ask me to pay anything to get it.  i knew it was a scam and told him to fax the info to me before I would act on it.  I have no intention on acting on it, but thought i'd jerk them around a little bit.  the other number they gave me is 1 -876-575-6367.  so watch out for this one too.

Prank Call
DON'T CALL HIM BACK!!!

Received the call and was told by a man that I'd won a Mercedes and $1.5 in a contest hosted by the Bank of America.  He said he's from the Fed-Ex office waiting to mail these items to me in a package and continued on to explain that my number was randomly selected and the methods used were through shopping at Walmart or paying a utility bill.

Since all things like this are too good to be true, I consulted my aunt whom I live with and she instructed me not to mention addresses or telephone numbers as I repeated everything he said to her.  I handed the phone over to her and she asked him one simple question "where are you calling from and where will the package be delivered?" and he promptly hung up.

I just researched calls from that area code and like you might've guessed, giving any information (address, telephone, bank account information, etc) is a very, very bad idea.  But I've also found this and I'd like to mention it for anyone who reads this.

DON'T CALL HIM BACK!  DON'T TEXT AND DON'T LEAVE MESSAGES!!!

From what I've read, the area code is from Jamaica.  However, because it's similar to an 800 number in appearance, many people are fooled into contacting the man.  Don't do that.  I'm not savvy with international call charges, but I googled a site that says they get a certain cut for international calls going inbound.  They WANT you to call them back.  Whether it's true or not, just don't do it.

Calling my elderly mother claiming to be UPS and had package to deliver.  Requested an appointment time we could be sure she was there to sign for package.  When caregive asked "who are you really" they hung up, so no idea how scam was to play out.  Wonder if they have a list of elderly folks for their suckers list?

The request for a specific time was spooky as I imagined someone actually showing up, but seeing call is from Jamaca there must be something else at play.

My son received a call from 876-575-3870 today during school hours stating the same thing as mentioned in other posts. Only Mr. "Jones" stated he was calling on behalf of Fed EX trying to deliver a check from Bank of America. He left his phone number on the message for call to be returned. Obviously we will not be calling this person back.

John Anderson called and left a message on my cell phone that I had a FedEx package they were trying to deliver.  Since I had been out of town for the previous week, I returned the call to see if the package we were expecting was the one they tried to deliver.  At this time, John Anderson informed me that if I would send $199.42 by Western Union, a 2011 Black Mercedes and a certified check for $735,000.00 would be delivered to my home.  John even told me he would meet me with the car at Wal-Mart so when the money was transferred to Doris Rochetti of 1418 Westchester, Chicago, Illinois 60154, he would turn the car and check over to me immediately.  I called Longview Police Department and told them what was happening. They said it was a scam.

He called me 3 times one morning but I only answered once on accident then hung up. 3 days later I get a call from this number while I was asleep. I was not aware of the area code being in Jamaica so I called back. His voice hard for me to understand but he said I won 1.9 million dollars. I told him I apply to win anything he said It was a random drawing from buying objects from walmart. I simply told him I did not want the money and to give it to someone else then he said "F**K your mother" then hung up.
I looked up the number and figured out what was going on. BE CAREFUL.

Be careful calling 876 area code. Any 876 number can be a premium rate number equivalent to our 900 numbers and you may be hit with a big $$$/min charge.

Prank Call
My elderly parents received a call from this number claimimg he was from fedex and wanted to deliver a package containing a check in the amount of 1.5 million dollars from Publishers Clearing House.  He stated his name was John Anderson and when I called the number back his voice mail actually did give the same name but said nothing about Fedex.  He received no information from me as the whole thing was very fishy.

I received a call from a guy today claiming to be a respresentative with UPS delivery service.  He told me that I had won $1.5 million and a Mercedes Benz in my choice of colors.  When I informed him that I knew all the proper procedures for winning a sweapstake since I was a legitimate winner of a previous one we conveniently got disconnected.  Be aware, he tried very hard to get a bunch of information from me to no avail.
