I have got calls from this number to the tune of $600 and I haven't called them. the phone company says that it is direct dialed and therefore I called it. But I wasn't even home during when the calls were made. What can be done about this? Any Suggestions?

I like Robert have been billed $428 for calls to this number.  The phone company advised me it was a direct dial.  They did tell me that this is an adult sex line. I was not home either I wasn't even in this state on the dates.  No one has access to my phone.  I am 63 years old and don't think that number one I need an adult sex line and I don't think that I am old enough to have forgotten that I called.  Something needs to be done.  Does anyone have any suggestions

Todays bill says I called June 11th at 6:30pm and continued calling until 12:03 am.  charged $64.38, and the calls are upto 90mins in length.  I have never called them!!  I just tried and when I did, operator says you will be charged carribean rates, then nothing1  No dial tone, rining or anything.  Rogers is looking into it but they might make me pay!  Anyone know what is up ??

This # is linked to an Adult Entertainment line...what happens is that the user calls an 800 toll free # and after a minute (and pressing the correct prompts) the message informs you that you will be trasnferred to an off-shores # at a paid rate, etc...ya' pervs! :)

This number appeared on my bill as well and I am more than 100% sure that the calls were not made. I have over $3000 worth of charges and the phone company won't even talk about helping me investigate this. I am so pissed!!!

My bill was 603 dollars and some change.  The phone company knows its a not valid calls and they reduced the bill by $275.  But I'm still responsible for the remainder.  Who can we complain to stop this?  Oh they used two numbers the 876-822-3311 and 876-822-3737.

Not only is Adam not an idiot, he's the only one on here who's got it right...this is the quest phone dateline number for those who want to have the cost of using the service charged to their home phone bill...I would imagine 2-3 hours spent on this line could add up to a lot of $$$ ...

Your an idiot.  You are one of the people who keep the phone sex lines alive in this day and age because you can get a woman or a man.

I am a escalation specialist for a telephone company. I have had serveral of these. It is a scam.
What is happening is people are calling with a lottery scam. You aswer and are asked to confirm your address. Once this is confirmed they are able to route long distance calls through your phone line almost indeffinetly.

This is not a Quest or dating sight. The calls aren't made by our customers but, unfortunately, you are responsible for the charges since you confirmed. The best plan is change your phone # after this occurs.

People!

The answer is VERY SIMPLE.

This phone number WAS called by someone in your home. If you dial Quest live phone chat and then listen to their payment options, number 3 is to dial this number and get access to the site.

Someone in your home is using this number to chat with men and women seeking phone sex and hook ups. OH OH! Now you all have domestic issues. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is a fact.

I have been getting calls from Jamaica for almost 3 years now.  They all start with area code 876
and use different numbers after that.  I quit trying to talk to them 2 years ago.  I filed a police
report but they said they couldn't do anything for me, as with me phone company.  I have never
been nice to this horrible people.  They call me also as "unknown-unknown" and "private-private"
and hang up when they get the answer machine.  They call somtimes 5 times a day.  No one can
help me because it's an international call.  Everyone says to change my phone number, but I
have a small business and I would have to change everything.  Don't know what else to do.

Does this sound familiar?

14.Call Forwarding Scam: You may receive a call or message where the caller, requests you to dial a 2-digit code preceded or followed by the * or # key (such as *79 or 72#), and then another phone number to claim some prize. This procedure programs your telephone to forward your calls to another number, possibly a toll or long distance number. Scammers can then call your number, be forwarded to the number you dialed and place calls that are billed to your home telephone number.

There is also informartion on the Federal Trade Commission Website about this kind of fraud

We too have had several phone calls from this number on our Nov/Dec 2009 bill from Sprint. They tagged my account for fraud, never contacted me. I saw the calls while doing online payment of the invoice and noticed the calls. I immediately called Sprint. Fraud had be change my phone id number, and now they say it is not fraud and I have to pay the bill. The 2 phone lines on the account are for my kids, used for nothing but texting. Fortunately this account has no contract attached to it (former employee). We will be canceling and moving elsewhere. The CSR told me she would call me back last weekend - 4 days later no response from Sprint and no help.

I am a supervisor at another phone company (not AT & T) and have fielded calls regarding the same thing - charges from a number beginning with 011-8768 that call records show as Discovery Bay, Jamaica. The customer swears they have never called this or any long distance number. We are aware that these customers are victims of a fraud, but there is little we can do. I have reported examples to security, but the phone companies, too are the victims and cannot do anything about it. I've occassionally offered a partial credit, but the phone companies do not have an obligation to credit these charges. Unfortunately, this scam has gotten the best of us all.
